Yep you nailed it PAK. Since you are interested in the ODAC especially in the northern Shenandoah valley you might be interested in knowing that one of those Mennonites where I work informed me that our institution was asked to support a request by Shenandoah U to join the ODAC. I mentioned that a few weeks back and barely got a nibble. But at the time we were debating the value and disposition of various diplomas. As the Kid pointed out ...K Mack had the definitive word on the subject  ::) and the board was then cleared for "macon folks to discuss history. I've learned to skim the articles rather quickly like non-eagle fans have done for the last number of years.

Anyway ...is the idea of SU leaving the USAC old news or really not that interesting?

Man I can't wait for Miz to provide some spicy post game commentary or Snakehandler to tell us he saw Elvis at the Hardees on Dinkle avenue

As a matter of fact.  I did notice a new BC recruit touring campus yesterday.  I think he maybe the new center.

Good to see we were able to bring out the Snakehandler!  Looks like "the King" has found the summertime location of "Stone Station."  God I miss Graceland.

So, in the meantime, K-Mack, jacketlawyer, yellowjacket and Allsky, it looks like this is your board for the summer...but come September...WE'LL BE BA-ACK!!!

Just funnin' with everyone.

Hey Pak, you and the other BC guys will never bother me. 8)

I kinda miss the BC crowd. Maybe I need to throw some Maconesque  barbs out there and see if they are paying attention.  ;D I tell you what Jacket....I'll trade you one Jacket W over the Tigers for one Tiger W over the Eagles. What do you say?  Can you make it happen? I mean you know....for the sake of the rivalry and all.  :D :D

Hey Allsky,

You boys better talk to Coach Clark first.  I am not so sure he will play along with your deal.  Just kidding, of course.  But if you seriously would make that deal, BC must really be a thorn in HSC's side.

Yeah.....I'm sure he might have a little something to say about that deal.  :D And yeah...the Eagles have been a thorn in the rear of the Tigers.  This year may be the best opportunity for the Tigers to beat the Eagles since the infamous 2003 game.  As I have previously posted, that was a huge game for the Tiger program. As big a W as it would have been, it was equally as big a loss. IMO, it had a lasting impact. I was there that day and I watched the replay again on TV that night. I felt like I had been sucker punched in the gut...twice. I can only imagine how the players and coaching staff felt. BUT....as I'm sure my BC friends will remind me, that is water under the bridge. Life isn't always fair and we must rise above.  I think 2007 is as good a time to do that as any.  8)

I got bored ( yawn ) with the mis-informed rantings from the guy from W&L,  so I have been away.  Also busy with golf tournaments, my primary job.  It gets your attention when you turn 50 and start filling out applications to a few "Senior" events and the college kids start hitting it past you, however.......can't wait for the football season and for practice to start.  Looking forward to the recruit list for all the schools.  Will be at BC for the " pre-view "

Hey Kid,

What's the latest on BC's fourth-string QB?

You can't take all this R-MC/H-SC chatter, can you?

Just imagine if they were both good at the same time. Heaven, my friends, heaven.

Just trying to get some the Bridgewater Brethren back in action, K-Mack.  Kid has broken away from his newlywed bliss to post a few, but the rest of the Eagles crowd is AWOL for the summer.  Do llamas need more food in summer?  Snakehandler must be stuck in the snakepit.  XBCDad is spending way to much time with the Mennonites.  Olinemom is either visiting France, or she's planning to feed brownies to every D3 football team in America.  Skoaltrain must be working on "Lil Skoal 3" or Copenhagen or Happy Days or whatever he's gonna call his next kin.  Rugbyguy must have found a 55 gallon drum of peanut butter for his doggie.  Religion Major must be visiting the Holy Land trying to translate the original Hebrew script for himself, ala Reggie White.  BC Photos is still developing shots from 2006 to see if Guilford or EHC had too many players on the field, or some other reason we can have those results reversed.

So, in the meantime, K-Mack, jacketlawyer, yellowjacket and Allsky, it looks like this is your board for the summer...but come September...WE'LL BE BA-ACK!!!

Hope the summer is going well for all ODAC posters.  Even the Ralphie guy from Texas who is not really an ODAC dude, but is really interested in Lynchburg for some reason.  Send him a street map, Skoalman!

SkoalTrain just checking in.  I've been busy and Pakownr states.  Busy raising little children and practicing on making others.  None in the oven at this point.  3's enough for the time being.  Also, I've been honing my grilling skills this summer.  Cooked a number of Pork Butts so come September I'll have it melting in your mouth.  "Bam! The offseason is the perfect time to talk H-SC/R-MC. Not much to discuss between August and December for the Tigers and Jackets. :)

Kidding, of course.  I sure hope it's another interesting ODAC season in 2007.  It was fun until the last week!

Oh, that's it, you and pakownr ... it's bookstore and clock-stopping and pre-1999 jokes non-stop this year!

I think Shenandoah and Lynchburg news is interesting, but I guess we need a little more substance to nibble on.

Ralph has definitely earned his guru title, with his areas of expertise including the handbook details and projecting the future of the regions. So I imagine his interest in Lynchburg has to do with that.

Nine football teams would be an odd number for the ODAC, but I don't believe Shenandoah or Lynchburg's future would depend on the other.

Shenandoah is probably a fit institution-wise, and for all sports, ODAC travel would seem to be better for them with just the one significant out-of-state trip to Guilford (although E&H might be a longer hike).

I'm sure it's preferable to trips to Methodist, N.C. Wesleyan, Tidewater (CNU and NNA) and Averett

I certainly don't know Shenandoah's reasoning, but I wouldn't be shocked if travel costs and more natural regional rivalries were a factor in their desire to join. Maybe the ODAC seems more stable as well.

I don't want to bring the "academic prestige" factor back up.

I wonder if 9 is a good number, or if the ODAC would look to go to 10 by adding (speculation alert) Averett. I also wonder if Roanoke would seek to add football if Lynchburg were successful at it.

I always wondered why those two schools, neither much different than H-SC size-wise (although I guess with fewer men at their disposal) didn't have teams.

Another thing to keep in mind is how bloated the ODAC would become in other sports with new adds. There is already no chance of Randolph College, Hollins or Sweet Briar ever adding football.

This actually makes good sense from a geographical perspective.  The travel savings will be noticed immediately.  The ODAC offers a home for Shenandoah Field Hockey and for the Lacrosse teams that have been affiliates in the Pennsylvania AC, which is definitely less stable than it was.

The next domino to fall could be the acceptance of invitations to join the USAC by the GSAC members in all sports.  This provides a "Southern Division" for both the women (7 GSAC members) and the men (4 members, 3 of which play football).  This would give plenty of buffer to movement by schools considering other changes, e.g., a CNU going to D-I or CNU being invited to the Captial AC.

The Capital AC has three football-playing members. (Gallaudet, Salisbury and Wesley)  New member Hood is rumored to be adding football.  That would give the four core members.  I think that Gallaudet is the least stable of these, so adding another football member would be wise.  CNU is a logical choice.  That gives five members.  Accept Frostburg St as a football affiliate, and you have six, only one shy of an AQ.  I have postulated that SUNY Maritime, and independent in football would love to guarantee 6 games in its schedule by becoming the 7th member of the Capital.  The Capital would love to have the AQ.  Next Apprentice is invited to become the 8th to fill the open date.  (NNA cannot count towards the AQ).  Voila!  The Capital has an AQ.

The acceptance of the GSAC schools provides the buffer for the AQ in numerous sports, football, soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis.  Division play would be very easy.  The schools could play inter-divisional games that help with "in-region" requirements.

The only issue in this is that Huntingdon and LaGrange have affiliated with the SLIAC in football for 2008.  I wonder what the "buy-out" on that contract is...time in the form of advanced notice? Or/and money?  Is 2-years' notice (2008 and 2009) the minimum participation in the SLIAC?

Hadn't seen this before I responded ... Ralph, on point as always.

Although isn't there speculation of a SUNY conference for football brewing? ... with Maritime, Morrisville, Brockport, Buffalo and Cortland, there are certainly some options.

Actually went to a B'water/H-S battle royal at Hampden-Sydney a few years ago.  Watched Ricca, Singh and Co. duke it out with Eagles at Death Valley (Conrad Singh was a PLAYUH). The Tigers lost, but it was a heck of game. :o

Eventually Martyball will prevail over the Eagles. 8)

Yeah, I saw that game and another at BC where the Tigers came up short.

As for allsky's proposal, sounds like a deal to me.

As for Wacker's pre-E&H tenure at H-SC ... THAT explains why I always disliked E&H as much as H-SC.

Quote from: K-Mack on June 27, 2007, 10:59:54 PM[...] Lastly (for now), your [WLU78's] arrogant attitude toward the academic quality of the rest of the ODAC stinks. You sound like a 7th grader bragging about how he can beat up the 6th graders.

Don't make me get an 8th grader from the NESCAC board to come over here, squat, and take a healthy dump on that Washington & Lee degree.

I wet my pants twice after that one.

Thanks, Kid.  I will gladly accept the silver medal.  K-Mack's quote above is an all-time classic.  Generations of post pattern readers will be repeating it for thousands of years.

God, was that guy obnoxious.

Dang...go away for a few months and you miss the really good go rounds!

I will confess that while the post didn't bring tears, it did have me laughing so hard and distracted that when I tried to diaper my WMD #3, I ended up with a naked child with a diaper doo-rag...

Dang, way to bring the heat K-Mack!

Thanks fellas. Until you mentioned it, I wasn't sure if that was met with a stunned "a D3 guy has crossed the line" silence or not.

'Tis a shame our friend scurried off, though. There was more where that came from. I rarely get to tussle, because the message board Averetts don't often schedule the road trip to Alliance. :)

hmmm...  let's see, it's been about 4 years since the ODAC rumour has surfaced, so this would seem about time for it to appear again.  Seems like this happens every 4 or 5 years up here.

Considering current USASAC travel, I would imagine a once-a-year trip to Carolina would hardly be a concern...

From what I hear it's travel costs.  We've been hearing this for 15 years, it was a rumor even before SU added football.  The regional rivalries would be the attractive part of this from a fans perspective.  I know a lot of famlies in town who have ODAC ties - either kids at ODAC Schools or grads themselves.  I know that SU had 7000+ at the BC game a couple of years ago.

Overall I think it would be a good move for SU, however, there are some great match-ups that would disappear with a move - and that would be disappointing.

I would hope I could still muster the strength to continue to hate CNU...

Do we know that Randolph wouldn't add football? Certainly a way to increase male enrollment.
