Uncle Jessie

Here are the game notes for the SU/BC game Saturday night. http://www.su.edu/athletics/Football_gn.pdf

Also for those that are interested check out this article on the Hornets offense and its problems in the red zone.

("Shenandoah offensive guard Nick Oakley said it was just several minute details that prevented the Hornets from establishing their presence on the line."We're a great offensive line that can move people," the senior said Wednesday. "Taking the right direction with our step, looking at the right guy ... those things will be fixed for this week.") By Robert Niedzwiecki

Personally I wish Barns would forget about the ACE-WING. It just is not working but he seems to be to stubborn to try something else. I'm hoping for a miracle on Saturday night against BC. Hoping the D can be just as strong as they were last week. But I have a feeling its going to be a looooong night. But I have hope ::), otherwise I would not be going to the game. GO HORNETS!! I'm praying for that miracle for you.

Hey, any Guilford fans have news on Mike Six? I knew he had a great year last year and was an Honorable Mention All-American yet no stats in the Southern VA game. Anyone know his situation? Thanks!

I haven't heard anything, MoveDaChains, but I also noticed Mike didn't start or participate versus SVU.  Number 94 is listed in the preseason roster posted just a few days before the first game, so he must have been practicing.  Perhaps he has a little nagging injury that the coaches and trainers thought would heal better if they kept him out a week.  Tougher games are coming, so this might have been a game they felt they could spare him.  This is purely speculation, since I have nothing factual to back it up other than his name is still on the roster.  I hope he's OK!

I was wondering the same thing. Saw he wasn't listed on the 2 deep game day chart. Only guess would be an injury.

hey hasa,
Hoping to be at all the home games but you never know. Was also hoping to get to Methodist, Greensboro, and Bwater. Looks like I can't make it this weekend with a prior engagement taking up my day. Still think I should be good for the hime games, gboro, and hopefully a trip to Bwater.
As for the game... I agree. I think GC wins pretty soundly; somewhere around your prediction. I'll say 33-13 (2 missed Xpt for GC). I noticed the same trend last week with a few blocked kicks. With out being there I can't say what went wrong, but knowing kiesel I can say, it was most certainly addressed this week in practice. Thinking Vogs gets 4 more and add a rushing td in there as well. Would be a decent start for the quaker D if they could hold Methodist to less than 14 this weekend.

PS. Thanks to Kmack for the GC note toward the bottom of "around the nation." Always good to see the team get some recognition.

Hey, Trenches.  It looks as though I may be able to go to BC on Oct. 13.  I thought MHC's home game was Oct. 13 (visiting my son), but it's actually Oct. 6.  Since the Quakers are open that day, I may be able to see MHC and BC.  A friend and I also want to see Appalachian State this year, so I think I'll go to the WCU game in Boone on Nov. 17 (unless, of course, the Quakers win the ODAC and start the playoffs lol)  Hey, it could happen!

When I predicted 34 for the Quakers versus MU, I was figuring 2 kicked PAT's and one 2-point conversion!  Just a hunch!  My thanks also to KMack for some Quaker recognition in ATN!

I'm going to MU this Saturday.  If I don't see you there, I'll catch you at the Averett game on the 15th in Armfield.  With a 7 pm start in the first ever night game on campus, I'm expecting a large and spirited crowd - especially if the Quakers are 2-0.  First things first, however, MU should be a good game.  Peace

hasa & Trenches-

We would love to see you guys make it up to BC this year.  Get there early, we'll have pork coming off the grill around 10:00ish and it will be ready for consumption soon after, I think a run of chicken will be ready close to noon.  It was a big party last year and will be even bigger this year.  Just don't let the score of the ball game get in the way of you having a good time.  ;)  We owe you one.

Hey, snakehandler.  Thanks.  I'm going to make every effort to be at BC this year.  I was worried that I had a scheduling conflict, but now I see I don't.  Obviously, I enjoyed the SS trip to NC last October.  Llamaguy left the rig at my house Friday night before setting up shop at Guilford.  It was a blast and I'm sure we can make that arrangement again next fall!  Yeah, you do "owe us one", but hopefully the Quakers can hang with the Eagles and make it another exciting game!  Both teams should be up for this one!  Good luck to both ODAC teams this weekend versus the USASAC!

Snake,

Do you do the pork butts, BBQ or what? What time do you usually have to start cooking in order for it to be ready by 10 and finally, what type of grill are you using. Sounds good, we've talked about doing it, but didn't know what kind of grill (Gas or Charcoal) and how long it would actually take.

Snakehandler

Llamaguy is the grillmaster. He has a stainless steel cooker big enough for about 75 chicken quarters. We only use charcoal. I'll let llama or skoaltrain take over and give you the specifics about how we slow cook our butts. I'm not sure how much they want to divulge.   It's a thang of beauty!!

Hasa -
Enjoy the game this weekend. I expect a full report on the game. haha. see you the 15th.

I look forward to the feast in bridgewater. I'm hoping nothing will come up between now and then and I will be able to make it up there. Hoping both will go into the game with unblemished records and it will be a true showdown!! see you and the rest of stone station soon.

tigerfanalso

Good luck to all of the ODAC teams this weekend. Hopefully the conference will show well again. I believe the Tigers will find a way to beat Gettysburg which should give the ODAC a chance to sweep this weekend.

Safe travels to all. May your teams play well and survive without  injury, at least serious injury !!!!!!

Thanks.  I'll give you a report either late Saturday or early Sunday.  Yeah, I'm looking forward to the AU game on the 15th.  See you there.  BTW, I know you're out of school now, but do you get a sense the students will turn out well for a 7 pm start, especially considering the team should be good this year?  I hope it's packed!

I've been afraid to say it because there is a lot of football to play, but it would be awesome if both were 5-0 on October 13.  I think it's a possibility, but MU, AU, HSC and Gsbo are tough.  One game at a time.  Good luck to everyone this weekend!

It's tough to say. I think it may be a decent crowd. There have been more "athletes" on campus the last two years, which is helping the attendance numbers. 7pm on a saturday should be interesting... if anything I say there will still be good attendance... just a few more intoxicated students in your midst.  ;) :D The interesting thing will be to see if they stay till the end as it could be around 10 pm when the clock runs out. One thing I can garuntee will be the campus party will be under way by 10:01.

As for the BC game... agreed... MU, AU, HSC, and GBC have all proved themselves to be teams who play GC tough. I wouldn't look past any of them. BC looks to have an "easier" schedule until then, with HSC being their top opponent. More so just a hope for the best from both sides.
