I knew you guys were closet Packer fans.  Enjoy your sip of the green and gold kool-aid.

I won't give either of you karma points, but I will give you a brat (Johnsonville is the official bratwurst of the Green Bay Packers) smothered with Sargento cheddar (the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers).

CNWho, when your girlfriend threw up at the end of that Super Bowl, was it because she was sickened by the Vikings performance (please notice I did NOT call Bud Grant's teams the Viqueens--your current team's moniker) or was it your performance that turned her stomach!!!  Just pullin' your chain, Dude.   ;D

Enjoy watching Taveras the rest of this season.  I guess I will have to settle for that "old man" Favre, who only has 149 regular season victories (more than any other QB in history) and 34 post season wins.  As Linda Ronstadt used to say, "Poor, Poor, Pityful Me."   :)

By the way, do either of you guys own part of the Viqueens?  Just curious.

Signing off while dripping with smug sarcasm,

I may not be able to route for your fudge-packers and I can't tell you much about CHU85's junior high girlfriend... BUT i can graciously accept a brat and cheddar.

A few notes on your post:
I miss Bud Grant.
What will you do when Farve retires? Will your real team be exposed like when Kiss took off their makeup?
I have no excuse for the vikes thus far. Tjax is killin me almost as much as the weak play calling.
...and did you just actually use a linda ronstadt reference on here?

I know this is a football board, but thought some of you might be interested in Guilford's 2007-08 men's basketball schedule.  In addition to the full ODAC slate, Guilford will play 5 USASAC teams (Averett, Greensboro, Methodist, Shenandoah and NC Wesleyan) plus Villa Julie and Emory.  The interesting game, however, is a Nov. 5 exhibition date at the University of South Carolina, which is not so much of a surprise if you know USC Head Coach Dave Odom is a Guilford alumnus and former basketball and football player.  :)  What a dilemma for me since I have degrees from both!  Not really - go Quakers!  :)
Hasa... I fully expect the Quakers to make run at the ODAC title on the hardwood this year. However, you may want to jump on the Gamecock bandwagon for this one.  :D
Yeah, USC is definitely DI, but they "ain't" Elon.  lol  We'll see.  Hopefully, Coach Odom will not beat up on his alma mater too badly.  If he subs early and often, maybe a 30 point spread in Columbia.  I've met Dave Odom a couple of times and I know he follows the Quakers, so I'm sure he'll roll out the red carpet for Coach Palombo and the team when they visit in November.  I'm pretty sure Coach Odom congratulated Jordan Snipes and Tom Palombo after Shots #1 and #2 and I think he contacted the team after their quarterfinal run last season.  It'll be a good experience for them. :)

Follow up answers:

1. I miss Bud Grant, too.
2. Mr. Favre's name is Favre, not Farve.  Emphasis on the MISTER to you.  And my team will be just fine after he retires with the defense carrying the load.
3. So sad.
4. Yep, but she was my college roommate's woman, mine was Olivia Newton-John. :)

Don't know if we will have brats at the Guilford/Bridgewater game, but if you make it to Stone Station on Oct 13, the Stone Station crew (Llamaguy, Skoaltrain, Snakehandler, et al) will feed you well.

Good luck to Guilford this weekend, not to the 'Queens.

Pat ... I wonder if the 7 votes Hampden-Sydney received were from individuals who excused Hampden-Sydney's Game #1 loss against Hopkins.  Maybe they were aware that the Tigers' quarterback had never taken a snap before ... or maybe they were aware that the Tigers were missing their top running back that game.

Now that Corey Sedlar has gotten his feet wet as quarterback, the Tigers are looking pretty good over the last 2 games.  Maybe not Top 25 material, but you have to admit that the Tigers' Game #2 slaughter (54-7) of the Gettysburg Bullets was pretty impressive, especially after Gettysburg came back the next week to defeat Hopkins by a margin of 41-10.  I would be willing to bet that the team Hampden-Sydney defeated last week, King's College, will go on to win quite a number of games this season.  (The Monarchs' other 2 losses this season were to #5 St. John Fisher and #30 Ithaca.)

Uncle Jessie

I posted this over on the USAC side first but thought you guys would like to read this as well.

Anyone that is interested in knowing more about why SU would like to join the ODAC should check out Scott Musa's article in todays campus newspaper. http://www.su.edu/pr/publications/sun/Sept19.pdf
It answers all the questions anyone may have about it. Its on page 6

yeah, don't know where I was with "farve." I think it was one of those thinks where my brain just left the thought process for a second. I'm usually one of the people who corrects others when they spell it wrong. Most have been since i was on my way to lunch.
Good call with Olivia over Linda.
I will do my best to get up to BC and meet up with the stone station crew. Until then, good luck to both squads... it will make GC and viking victories so much sweeter.  ;) :D

Really good article.  Seems to make sense and answer the questions of "why" pretty thoroughly.

Why is Shenandoah wanting to join the ODAC rather than the CAC?  The article doesn't address that question, but it's worth noting that the distance to CAC colleges would be less for Shenandoah than the distance to ODAC colleges.

One of the reasons that SU cited in the artical for joining the ODAC was that it would provide a conference for all of their varsity sports.  I don't know if the CAC sponsors all of the sports that SU is trying to find a conference for.  For instance, CAC does not sponcor football.  Catholic, a CAC team is an ODAC affiliate in that sport.

Pat Coleman

Catholic isn't in the CAC anymore, it's in the Landmark.

If Shenandoah (and Frostburg, who is talking to the CAC) both joined the league, the CAC would have football. But it would always be tenuous at five teams and would have to add affiliates to get an automatic bid.

Plus, Gallaudet is on probation from the conference and may not last.

The CAC has lacrosse, field hockey, track and field, swimming .... everything except for football.  Perhaps the CAC could get a couple of affiliates, to qualify for an NCAA bid.  If not, perhaps Shenandoah could join the CAC and affiliate with the ODAC for football.

With the addition of Randolph College in men's basketball, the ODAC is already expanding to an 11-member conference in men's basketball .... and there are also 11 ODAC members in women's basketball.  I think there's something to be said for having only 8-10 teams competing for a conference championship.

This is certainly meant as no offense to Shenandoah, as I have had a long connection to the institution and think highly of S.U.

Latest on Wheaton QB, Zach Ullirch:

I am an ex-Wheaton football player and recently got the update from one of the coaches on Zach Ullrich.  The preliminary diagnosis was that he suffered a hematoma on the brain (aka brain bleed), which is extremely serious and even life threatening.  It sounds like it was very serious for a while, but it looks like things have gotten better.  He has been responsive and the bleeding has stopped, which means he shouldn't require any surgery.  He isn't in the clear yet, so keep up your prayers, but things do look better.  The last thing I heard was that he was still in Barnes Jewish hospital in St. Louis.  This hospital is supposedly great at dealing with injuries like Zach's so I believe he is in great care.
That's all I know at the moment.  If I hear anything else I will let you guys know.  Just keep he and his family in your prayers.  As for his season, well that looks like it is pretty much over.

Thanks for the confirmation.  That is pretty much what I had heard via 3rd hand sources.  I didn't want to bug the coaches, so I figured I wait until information was more readily available on his condition.

This is consistent with what I had heard. I would add I heard the hit happened in the 1st quarter and he was checked regularly for concussion sypmtoms throughout first half as well as at halftime by doctor on the sidelines. He played one series in the 3rd quarter and collapsed on the sidelines. Because it was burst blood vessels it doesn't have the same sypmtoms of concussion.  Very scary.

Please keep this young man in your prayers.
