Well I've been away for awhile because of my own football problems. But I have a serious bone to pick right now. I really don't understand how Guilford cannot stop Hampden Sydney on at least one series to win a game. I mean come on its not that hard fly around and tackle people. I know you have to play the whole game because the offense scores so fast but that should just mean condition more so your ready for it. I think it's time for someone to step up on that defense and make some plays. I know your out of position but you should be the leader of that defense and get them ready to play. Defensive End is a pain in the butt but your a good player and shouldn't matter where you play at you should be making plays even if your real position is linebacker. Lets go #40 it's your last year.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.  Guilford seems content on a shootout.  The best way to keep the opposing offense down is to keep them off the field.

Offense wins games defense wins championships. That holds so true in this case.

Hello from Charleston, SC.  Actually, the Quakers did get a few stops, but still gave up 56!  There was an interception, but they couldn't capitalize and at least two or three punts.  In my opinion, the facet of the game that hurt them the most was huge returns on kickoffs!  HSC was operating with a short field the whole night!  It was really frustrating to watch.  As I said before, Hampden-Sydney's Offense impressed me, but Guilford's Defense and Special Teams need to step up.  I have seen much better efforts.  As Quakes75 said, it's your team #40 - show these guys your proven Senior leadership.

Ok where are all the HSC vs. BC game predicitions?

I predict it will be a war. This is one of the hardest hitting teams I have seen at BC. HSC is always physical. The defense that steps up will win this game barring a bunch of turnovers! Hopefully it will be another classic. Can't wait until Saturday!

He has done that the past three years.  He's also been 0-3 with those picks.

I agree with y'all that, regardless of what position he's playing, Paylor has got to step up and perform.  However, like the Ok. State coach, you guys need to lay off of one player.  Pick on the coach or pick on the team as a whole, but don't place all the defensive woes on one guy.  One guy can be a playmaker, but he can't make all the plays.  Blame Kiesel & Co. for not scheming correctly to stop the offensive onslaught.  Blame the entire unit for not performing as a whole.  But don't blame one guy.  He's a leader and I agree he's responsible for helping to maintain the defensive intensity, but at the same time sometimes you're going to lead the horses to water and they're still going to refuse to drink.

The best thing about the ODAC this year is the parity! With the out of conference record the way it is, the conference games will be a blast. As much as everyone thinks BC fans love to win, we also love a good game. I would rather be worried about the outcome of the next 4 Bridgewater games than know if we play our B game we still win by a few. There is a lot to be said about having to WIN your way to a conference title and roll into the playoffs with a swagger from a great season.

+1 for you too, my friend!  Well said.

Every game will be tough, and I'll be nervous as heck heading into each one.  I just can't see the ODAC champ going 6-0 this year.  Kudos to a team if they do!

I was thinking more about the need for a running game to help keep the clock running knowing the offense is so potent.

To be honest, the run game is there (for the most part). They have been averaging 4.4 per carry thus far. They have been getting some good chunks of yardage. The D has just been inconsistent. They have showed they can play... unfortunately they have also showed that they can get beat (too much).
It's aggrivating to see a team get an 8 yard sack to force 3rd and 14+ and then give up the first on the next play. I have faith in the D to hold teams to atleast enough for the quaker O to do their business and get the win... Sometimes you just have to wonder if they have the same faith.

I am sorry, it is my ardent desire not to offend you or any other member of the board, but I must very respectfully disagree with your terminology. I know you are using the term "war" to mean a hard fought game, but personally, I feel using that term I think cheapens what brave men and women are currently doing in the Middle East.

I agree it will be a hard fought, physical football game, but it is a game and in the end everyone goes home. Sometimes we go home with our feelings and pride hurt, but we go home.  Not everone gets to go home after a war. There are men and women far away from their families, some of which will never return, fighting a war with real bullets and very real, long lasting consequences. They are there allowing us to go and enjoy games.

I am not trying to make any postive or negative political statement or begin an arguement, it just aggravates me when we, especially the pros that are making millions of dollars a year refer to a game as a war.
