Offense wins games defense wins championships. That holds so true in this case.

What wins "Championship" "Games"!!??   :D :D :D :D

Trenchs
Look at New Orleans. Their D is no better, no worse than last year but the offense does not stay on the field for those 7-8 minute drives anymore.

Sounds like GC-Q.

G-Q scores quick and the defense is exposed to more time on the field. If perhaps the GC-Q drives ate up more clock they would be fresher and less likely to be exposed to other offenses. Than again they may not have the talent on D or maybe they have run into some high octane offenses.

But that is their MO on offense. Blitzgrieg.......

Also; remember if you can see them they can see you.

It is better than 1999-2002.

I agree with y'all that, regardless of what position he's playing, Paylor has got to step up and perform.  However, like the Ok. State coach, you guys need to lay off of one player.  Pick on the coach or pick on the team as a whole, but don't place all the defensive woes on one guy.  One guy can be a playmaker, but he can't make all the plays.  Blame Kiesel & Co. for not scheming correctly to stop the offensive onslaught.  Blame the entire unit for not performing as a whole.  But don't blame one guy.  He's a leader and I agree he's responsible for helping to maintain the defensive intensity, but at the same time sometimes you're going to lead the horses to water and they're still going to refuse to drink.
EHC - I think you may be misinterpreting the comments on #40.  As we've said before, football is a team sport, so everyone shares responsibility.  We're just saying as the Captain, it's his team to continue to lead by example.  Number 40 gives 100% effort every time out - no one is questioning that at all!

TheEHC52

hasa,

And I quote, "I think it's time for someone to step up on that defense and make some plays. I know your out of position but you should be the leader of that defense and get them ready to play. Defensive End is a pain in the butt but your a good player and shouldn't matter where you play at you should be making plays even if your real position is linebacker. Lets go #40 it's your last year."

While you might be making a critique of his leadership skills, others are actually questioning his abilities on the field.  As somebody who personally went head-to-head with him for three years, there should be no question of his abilities.  I personally think he's been handcuffed by the schemes he's had to play again.  Which brings me back to my original point, blame Kiesel & Co. or the entire team.  Don't put the blame on one player.

Ok where are all the HSC vs. BC game predicitions?

I predict it will be a war. This is one of the hardest hitting teams I have seen at BC. HSC is always physical. The defense that steps up will win this game barring a bunch of turnovers! Hopefully it will be another classic. Can't wait until Saturday!
I am sorry, it is my ardent desire not to offend you or any other member of the board, but I must very respectfully disagree with your terminology. I know you are using the term "war" to mean a hard fought game, but personally, I feel using that term I think cheapens what brave men and women are currently doing in the Middle East.

Point taken! And an excellent point it was. I should have used different terminology. I am the first to respect our troops giving me the right to watch football on Saturdays.  ;)

I'll say it again, I'm not questioing his skill or putting the blame on one player.  When you use a quote such as this, perhaps you should atribute it to the person who made it.  As stated, it may leave some readers with the incorrect assumption the quote is mine.

TheEHC52

Perhaps you should read the first sentence of the second paragraph.  I clearly state that you are making a critque of leadership skills and others are talking about ability.  I don't think there was anything misleading about what I said.

I carefully read everything you wrote, but I still stand by my request.   You may think you "clearly state," but I respectfully disagree.

Snakehandler

What conference game does your team "mark on the schedule" each year? I'm curious to know which game is the "biggest".  And don't tell me "they are all big" or "we only take one game at a time"

RMC is HSC
HSC is RMC right?
BC is HSC
E&H is BC?
Catholic?
Guilford?
W&L?

"Fear the Snakehandler, for he speaks with forked tongue"

Catholic doesn't have as long a history as others in the ODAC, so the rivalries aren't as strong.
I know the HSC game was the big game for several years with the whole Marty connection to Catholic. I don't know how much people get up for that now since all of the connections between Favret and the Catholic staff are gone.
RMC was a team that played Catholic before they joined the ODAC, and they are also geographically closest to DC in the conference. Macon-Catholic games always seem to be close, and both teams have gotten the better of the other enough that I think it is a good rivalry.

Snake
I personally do not think GC-Q has one in the conference. I think it's outside the conference. Actual alumni might disagree.

But 2 teams have to beat the hell out of each other on a consistent 50-50 basis to develop one.

That has not happened in the past at GC-Q. They have had the hell beat out of them with no return fire....until recently

Hey Snake, I'm surprised you didn't suggest Eastern Mennonite start a football program so they could do battle with Catholic...of course, future 'big games' for Catholic could also be with Methodist...or Moravian...and why not Brigham Young too?

Ralph Turner

Just have Mennonite join the ASC...
East Texas Baptist, Texas Lutheran and the other 6 football schools (5 Baptist and a Methodist).

I think we are all just catching our breath after seeing the Snakehandler down as picking HSC in the ODAC pick-em's...

He is just trying to catchup after a rough start!  ;D Gotta pick who the others aren't . ;)

Perhaps...but you don't sell your heritage for a mass of pottage, and you don't pick against your own team...for therein lays the path to madness.

That last part is for the late Prof Albright, who always seemed to interject something remotely approaching English literature into sports discussions...
