I wanted to give some feedback on the attendance at the E&H - HSC game.  Personally, I think the number of 7950 is low.  The home stands were at least 90% full and the fans around the field was 4-5 deep.  I don't know what the home stands hold, but there was a huge crowd at E&H last Saturday.
Congratulations to the Wasps for their big victory.  Kudos also to all the fans who attended.  It's great to see the ODAC so competitive and with such outstanding fan interest.  It should also be a good game when the Quakers visit BC this Saturday.  Obviously, a big game for a lot of reasons.  In fact, all the ODAC games this weekend are big!  Hope to see many of you at Bridgewater!  Go Quakers!

First get some sleep. :)

Second I see the photo of the Eagle on your post. Looks like they used you as a model without a t-shirt huh. ;) It would not be Skoal because he would have an IV in his arm with a keg attached.

Going 25-3 out of conference: Will that get more than one ODAC team in the playoffs or help with the seeding or both? Or just bragging?

In my opinion it will definitely help a second team getting in depending on their final record. There are more teams nationwide with 1 loss already than in previous years. Just look at the number of Top 25 teams who have lost in the past 2 weeks. The only way I don't see 2 ODAC teams in is if the ODAC beats up on each other in conference play and the winner has a 4-2 in conference record. If a team from the ODAC has 2 in-region losses it will be really tough to get an at-large (Pool C) bid!

ps. I don't need sleep, I work to 0200 every morining, Sir!

The E&H stands hold 5,500. It if looked full, I'd say that's roughly 4,500. The gate counter's estimate of another 3,500 around the field is very generous.

At Bridgewater's last three Homecoming games, we've had the stands full and people "lining the fence" pretty deep too, yet we've publicized crowds of 3,420, 3,000, and 3,300 ... and our stands hold 3,000.

Again, it might seem like a huge crowd, but keep in mind it's at a Division III game inside a Division III stadium. A crowded stadium that should hold 5,500 (like Fullerton does), may have only 4,500 in the stands. That's the way I look at a "full Jopson Field." It's not 3,000 like the stands are suited for, it's actually more like 2,250 to 2,500.

The standard seat size on a bleacher is 18 inches. Measure your own rear and tell me people sit that close to one another at a football game.

Oh, this is going to get good.  Does Emory & Henry have a Math or Statistics major available to students?

Yes, it is going to get good.  More importantly, do they have someone available to do a butt measurement histogram and normal distribution.  I seriously doubt the validity of "self-reported" data.  lol

Fully realizing Wasps has more than one meaning:

A big game out in Emory land
No dead Anglos or Saxons are banned!
With fingers they're countin' ...
The Protestants mountin' ...
A new record for butts in the stands!

Not sure what size butts they have down at Emory but I saw quite a few nice 18 inch ones down at H-S. Problem is, I saw quite a few twice that size too.  :D :D

That stadium holds 5,500 at 18" per butt.  :D Now that is funny. I spec the average butt size has increased dramatically since that stadium was built.  ;)

I think the best part about this is that no one is absurdly backing E&H on their bloated attendance figures.  E&H Dad doesn't live on here supporting it.

Their voices silent, everyone pretty much agrees E&H attendance figures are bogus.

Matt, Thanks for your help about myself starting a web site for SU like you have done with BC. With any luck I will have one up and running in a few months. It looks like it will be a lot of hard work but its something I would like to do for the fans of the Hornets and the team.

Hey, not a problem, man. I'm glad you're doing one!

Keep your questions coming through email. I know I haven't gotten back to you on your last one, will try tonight. Been super busy lately (which reminds me, I still haven't posted the SRFP or ODAC pick 'em results ... grr).

Very good post Algernon, You are very right on the way you view the ODAC.
This is going to be a tuff season and the ODAC champ will deserve it.
Being a Tiger fan, I walked away wondering how the game was as close as it was. And a part of me felt good about us playing so bad and it still being a fairly close contest.
HSC - 413 Yards offense, E & H 306 Yards Offense.
First Down's HSC- 25 > E& H -18
So how did we lose ?.....Of course, oh yeah,....... 7 TURNOVERS !!!!
No way, can a team win with that many TO'S
We have played and beaten Bridgewater and Guilford.
Both have good teams and ether are good enough to win the ODAC.
If E&H gets better on offense.....Look Out !
W&L is W&L.......Always solid !!!.....Never count them out !
Macon is playing great as is Catholic......WOW, can it get any better ?
No Sour Grapes and congrad's to a solid E&H team......But, As I think they even realize, HSC did not bring their A game.
But, if you look at the stat's....It don't take rocket science to figure that out.
The one thing, I will give the Wasp's....They will take your head off !!!
They do love to hit.....Any football fan can appreciate that !!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL ODAC PLAYER'S.....THIS IS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL YEAR !
GO TIGER'S !!!!
' It's not whether you get knocked down.....
It's whether you get up !

Thansk for the compliments.  The team really prides itself on being more physical than the guy in front of you and I think that showed saturday via the turnovers.  The fumbles were caused by some big licks.

By the way you should have felt good about the game, HSC is no slouch team.

Hey K-Mack just like old times again this weekend in Ashland.  Will you be there?

ODACfan1

In response to patcummings post...i think there is only maybe 3 or 4 people who post on here from E & H...so excuse them if they have other things going on in their lives so that they arent able to post every hour...I attended the Emory and Henry game versus Hampden-Sydney as an ODAC fan and supporter...the attendance figure has to be accurate if not under...the atmosphere was great...I have been to all of the ODAC venues and Emory and Henry on Saturday was one of the best if not the best atmospheres I have encountered...
