2.  Trivia Question
When was the last time that a RMC-HSC end of year rivalry game determined the ODAC Champion?

I should know the answer to this one but I don't.  Perhaps K-Mack can wade in with this one.  If I had to guess, I'd say back to the early '90s, at least. ???

Did the Harrisonburg Daily News-Record get into our fun chat about the E&H attendance padding, or was it an honest mistake?  The Monday paper reported the BC/Guilford attendance at 23,691 ! I am sure this is an error. I was at the game and I am sure the attendance was something below 20,000.

That's funny! :D

Our box score reports 3,384 people were in attendance.

The stands were packed (holds 3,144), the fence was lined a couple people deep (on the Bridgewater side), and there were a good number of people on the hill.

Honesty is a beautiful thing.

Speaking of attendance, am I seeing the E&H/R-MC box score correctly ... only 445 in attendance?!

Kind of surprising that R-MC doesn't have more fans coming out to games with their hot start, and that E&H fans don't travel well (you'd think at least a handful of the 10k or so that make it to home games would).

I need to let it go ... I know.

A lot of schools are on fall break right now, so most of the students are elsewhere.  It'll be the same at GC when W&L comes to town on Saturday.  Still, you would think there would be more than 445.

LOL! The only attendance I care about is the 65 or so BC guys who will be on the field at Emory & Henry Saturday. If they show up like they did for homecoming we will atleast have a fighting chance against the wasps at their place.  ;)

Hasanova is correct.  Fall break is in full effect.  Rest assured the R-M faithful are thrilled about this 2007 edition of the R-M program.  We love it. 8)

Here's one for our statistical researchers:  is there any other team in the country that's surrendered 253 points in its first six games and still has a winning (4-2) record?  lol   In Guilford's two losses, the Quakers have given up a whopping 132 points, but they've still allowed 121 in the four wins!  Please stop somebody!  :)

Kind of nice that this last game was at home as BC got 91 of 93 dressed players in the game (according to the DNR).  Must have been fun for the radio announcers to keep up with all the subs!
Also with 3,000 plus in attendance I can't even imagine having 7-10,000 people there!!!  It was so packed there was no place to park an hour before the game started!  Where do they fit everyone in these other D3 towns and stadiums?

To drum up some conversation, here are my thoughts on the ODAC...

Randolph-Macon (6-1, 3-0) ... yes, they've won their first three ODAC games, which include W&L and E&H. And lucky for them, four of their conference games are in Ashland. But they have yet to play the three top offenses in the league (GC, BC, H-SC). I wouldn't be shocked if they finished the year 6-4. They' had a nice run, but their loss was against a horrible team in Frostburg State, in Ashland. Frostburg is 1-5 on the year.

Hampden-Sydney (5-2, 3-1) ... they finally got the Bridgewater monkey off their back, but they follow that up with seven turnovers and a loss against E&H. I would say had they only turned it over six times, they win that game and are sitting 4-0 in the ODAC. They are in the driver's seat for the conference title, and I would be shocked if they didn't win their last three games (CUA, Huntingdon, R-MC).

Bridgewater (5-1, 1-1) ... I called it back in March that the Eagles' toughest game would be at H-SC (read). Although we were one play away from coming away with the victory, we still deserved to lose. What a wake up call. After an impressive 76-6 (er, 76-28) win over Guilford, I think the Eagles should win their rest of their games. That doesn't mean they will, though. And that's why we play the games.

Emory & Henry (4-2, 1-1) ... the best defense in the conference (to date), but a very one-dimensional offense (run, run, run). They take care of the ball on the ground (309 rush attempts, only one fumble), but when they're forced to throw it, they're bad (112 pass attempts, seven interceptions). I can see them winning three of their last four, or losing three of their last four.

Washington & Lee (3-2, 1-2) ... it looks like they're still thinking about that 42-0 loss to Wilkes in the playoffs last season. They had unimpressive wins against 1-5 Franklin & Marshall and 0-6 Averett. In their other three games, they've given up 36 points a game. Where did the conference's best defense from a year ago, go? They have four difficult games remaining on their 2007 slate, so they can still make a statement. But three are on the road, and they have a 2-6 road record over the last two seasons.

Guilford (4-2, 0-2) ... their football team gave up more points to Bridgewater (76) than their men's basketball team did during the regular season last year (66 and 52). If their remaining opponents (W&L, R-MC, CUA, E&H) watch the Bridgewater film, and (a) get their DLs to make Vogelbach (who looked 5'9'') throw over their outstretched arms, as well as (b) play their defensive backs up close to the line of scrimmage, then I can't see the Quakers having much success the rest of the way. But then again, a good offense will always give you a chance to win on Saturday ... so we'll see.

Catholic (4-2, 0-2) ... they're only 19 points away from 0-6 on the year (with wins by 7, 6, 1, and 1 points), but they get their next three games at home (albeit against H-SC, E&H, and GC). I have a feeling their heading towards their fourth straight 1-5 or 0-6 season. Ricca has to have a mistake free (or close to it) game for the Cardinals to win, and he hasn't many. Perhaps more an offensive line issue than a Ricca decision making issue. They played E&H and BC tought last year (lost by four and seven, respectively), so they certainly won't go down without a fight.

Ok kid...you asked for it. I had a great weekend (even though I only got my D3 fix online) and got a good night sleep last night so WATCH OUT!!  ;)

Great info kid. Everyone knows I am a Tiger homer but here goes. Hard to say that the undefeated team is not in the drivers seat but based on games played and games remaining, they are not IMO. allsky7's prediction....say you heard it here first.  :D
Hampden-Sydney wins the ODAC title outright and makes their first NCAA playoff appearance since 1977. Bridgewater will beat E&H this Saturday and H-S will take care of business in DC. I have to confess that I am a little nervous about the DC trip for the Tigers but barring a complete meltdown, the Tigers win this game. Anything can happen when the Tigers and Jackets meet but the Tigers make it seven in a row to win the title.
And oh yeah.....The Eagles win out and get the at large.  ;)
Ok....how about that for some Monday AM gasoline on the fire?  :D Let's see who is awake out there? Now let the floodgates open!!  :o

As everyone knows, I am also a Tiger homer, but I agree with your prognostications 100%, Allsky.

I think the Tigers will defeat in Catholic for the 7th time in a row this coming Saturday.  Marty Favret has been on the winning side of a Cardinals / Tigers game every single time except 2000 .... and that's about 14 out of 15 games, either as offensive coordinator for the Cardinals or head coach for the Tigers .... and I don't think things are going to be any different this time.

So I'm betting the Tigers will defeat Macon in Ashland and the Eagles will defeat the Wasps, giving the Tigers the ODAC championship and the Eagles the at-large bid.   But I'm putting no money on this ....  :D

Hmmmm.  Let's see BC beat the Waspers first.  E&H plays defense, and it's in Emory, where bad things happen.  Happy Halloween. ;D

Jacket.....you are probably wiser than I. Just trying liven up the board on a Monday!!  ;D Remember, I also picked the Tigers to beat E&H so Eagle fans may not want my endorsement.  :D

Allsky, I'm glad you did.  I was going to comment on The Game as well, but figured I'd wait until after two tough road games against the Quakes and the Eagles.  I'm sure the Jackets aren't looking too far ahead, either. 8)

In the meantime, I'm going to sit back and enjoy seeing Randolph-Macon on the top of the ODAC conference rating for a couple of weeks.  I've even bookmarked it! ;D  I've gone back to the site a couple of times this morning just to remind myself how good it feels.  ;)

Let's hope the fellas have a good fall break, and make the most of next week's bye.  Then I hope we come back and play at least three more weeks of inspired football and. . . win. . . out!! ;D

I left you and K-mack a little love on the ODAC pick em board this AM. Course, you know I had to throw a Macon jab in there too.  :D
