I don't think that the Generals want to move.  They are very competitive in the ODAC.

I am interested to see how they exert their influence in the discussions that arise from the D-IV/D-III issues.

Ralph, I don't get to read all the boards on here, but I'm wondering about the origin of the D-IV proposal.  NESCAC?  I know the ODAC would love to be like the NESCAC (all of the participant schools in the Top 50 ranked liberal arts colleges, billion dollar endowments, etc..), but it's not going to happen anytime soon. . . if ever.  :-[

Jacket, I remember the NCAC as being the most vociferous about it.  The first page of the Future of Division III thread has stuff on it from the very first post dealing with legislation for the January 2006 meeting.

For years I heard nothing from W&L leadership other than wanting to move. Admittedly, some posts have changed, but I am not sure the sentiment has. We certainly have seen a lot of W&L complaining on this board in the past about how their academic standards are so much different than the rest of the ODAC.

I don't think the word "different" was used.  I think the words of choice were "better" or "higher".

I'm sorry I will not be able to attend tomorrow's game with the Generals, even though I bought season tickets.  Life comes at you fast.  lol  It's the 21st meeting and the series is tied at 10-10.  Unfortunately, the students are on fall break, so the crowd may be down a bit, but I still expect a good turnout.  Wish I could be there!  Hopefully, Vogelbach and the rest of the team will be back in stride after last week's less than stellar effort.  Go Quakers!

While we're on the subject of why I can't come tomorrow, I have a few words of wisdom for the groom, who is my girlfriend's coworker.  Sure, your team may have a bye tomorrow, but mine doesn't.  I would have serious reservations about getting married to someone who suggested an October wedding, on a Saturday ... at 1 pm.  Dude, what are you thinking?  There were so many other viable options!   We are now reviewing your "man card" status.  lol  :)

My condolences :'(

I am not better, but definitely older.  I seriously doubt I am wiser, but the roughly three decades I have lived longer than you have undoubtedly taught me some valuable lessons.  For example, when they ask "which do you like better, football or me?", lie without hesitation.  If you pause for even 3 seconds, you cannot overcome the faux pas.  It's like stepping on a landmine.  You hear the click, but you can't move your foot.  The die is cast.  Also, do not attempt to qualify your answer by having a foolish ranking system such as "Well, I like you better than Fresno State at Air Force on Thursday night, but this is the Stagg Bowl!"  Again, there is only one correct answer.  It must be delivered quickly, unequivocably and with the best tone of voice you can possibly muster when you are blatantly and, to most reasonable men, obviously lying.  Truthfully, for those three hours, I would much rather be at the football game.  If I did go to the game, however, I would  spend the next three years regretting my shortsighted decision.   It's all about the brownie points ... and her birthday is next Friday ... so there is no room for error.  lol  :)  Peace

Exactly.  Thank you for your condolences.  lol  Karma for you.  There are only five home games ... and there are 21 other hours in those days!  I'm even willing to give up a road game.  I bought season tickets.  Five Saturdays.  That's all I ask.  I also missed W&L's last trip to Greensboro in 2005, so I'm looking at a 6-year gap to see the Quakers play the Generals in Greensboro.  The food better be good tomorrow!  :)

Hasanova,
I follow you.  Nothing wrong with filling the "emotional bank account."  I'm doing the same tomorrow as I'll be listening to the Eagles/Wasps game on the internet at home with the wife in one hand and a cold beer in the other.  Saving up enough dollars in the account to take out for the W&L/BC game next week.

skoal, you are wise beyond your years.  lol  Trust me, the "emotional bank account" does exist!  Ignore it at your own peril.  lol  Enjoy the game tomorrrow - and your time with your wife.  I'll check in tomorrow night and see how the games were won or lost.  :)

Yeah, I've seen the commercials.  Funny!

CNU85

I hear y'all!!! I too am collecting wife brownie points this weekend. I was invited by the family of a player to tag along to NC with them for the CNU/Methodist game. But I'm collecting the points this weekend so that the following week I have enough  to cash in to go to the NCW/CNU game which should be the key game of the year for the USA South. Last week I scrubbed all the hardwood floors in the house - that was my down payment for next weekend!

Also need more points so that on Nov 3rd I can head up to BC and join Llama and the gang!

;D ;D
