excuse the author. He was thinking about Llama and couldn't control "hisself" :D

Hey O-line Ma.....any chances of the brownies making it this way next week?
That's the plan.  I told Jeremy that I was going to send them.  I will either make them Sunday or Monday and send them on the 3 day deal at USPS.  If it gets to Linfield in 3 days, I know it can get to your place in that amount of time.  Can u believe that it's almost 2:30 and Religion Major is picking me up at 6.  I'm going to die at some point tomorrow, probably right after kick-off.  I'll just snooze away and miss the whole game.  I'm now officially (that doesn't look right, but Hasa has already gone to bed, so maybe I'll get away with it) going to bed!!!

Good morning, Olinemom.  Have a safe trip to Emory!  Contrary to popular belief, I am not the grammar police.  lol  Someone is probably on duty in that capacity 24/7, but it's not me.  :)

This week I'm going to use reverse psychology methodology. GO BC!!!!!!!

BC by 14 over my WASPS.   I pray that I'm wrong and the Wasp's are not a mirage.

Where is EHC 52 when we need him? Pledging at Fullerton Field to become a member of the Stone Station Crew!

Quoteome of my wife's friends missed our wedding....it was the day of the Clemson/South Carolina game....we understood! Besides, they sent the gift via UPS!!!

I want to question your manhood for getting married during football season, but its not a bad deal to get a gift and not have to pay for the guests at the reception. I really shouldn't judge though...maybe this was a wedding that had to be done on the quick and you didn't have a choice. ;)

The choice was easy...CNU didn't have a football team way back then and I hadn't started my grad work at W&M yet. So, we married on a Saturday so I could still watch the NFL on Sunday!!  ;D shhhh....she still doesn't know that after 22 yrs!! :D

I will send you a different address in a PM. I'm not going to be at work Thursday or Friday....the other BC @ VT Thursday night...should be a blast!

BC defeats EHC
Tigers defeat Catholic
W&L defeats Guilford

Here are the current ODAC standings using the "Games Back" format:

Team       Won        Lost         Pct.        Games Back
    RMC          3          0       1.000             ---
    HSC          4          1        .800             ---
    BC          2          1        .667             1.0
    W&L          2          2        .500             1.5
    E&H          1          2        .333             2.0
    GC          0          3        .000             3.0
    CUA          0          3        .000             3.0

Next week:
Emory and Henry at Catholic - with the Wasps' losses to both BC and RMC, this game is of less interest than it would have been.  Catholic is still looking for it's first ODAC win.

Randolph-Macon at Guilford - important game for RMC, heading into next week's Bridgewater/RMC game.  Guilford is still looking for it's first ODAC win.

Bridgewater at Washington and Lee - and an important game for BC, heading into next week's Bridgewater/RMC game

Let me preface what I'm about to say by declaring that Bridgewater certainly deserved to win this afternoon.  Emory should've stopped Carter from scampering to the 13 and putting the Eagles in FG range that late in the game when it was tied.

That being said, the officiating today sucked.  There is no other way to put it.  There were some horrible calls on both sides, and I'll admit I'm inclined to notice the ones that hurt EHC more.  The first TD scored by Bridgewater was phantom.  The ball clearly hit the turf before #87 caught it.  There was also a no-call facemasking on the reverse Emory ran.  Finally, the biggest bone I have to pick is with Emory essentially scoring two TDs after the forced fumble on the punt at the three.  I don't understand how two zebras call a TD and one (who wasn't in position to make the call) calls it off.  The sad thing was Emory crossed the plane again on fourth down and still didn't get the call to go their way.

I will say there were some holds not called that should've helped Bridgewater and there were some other penalties called that shouldn't have been that hurt BW.  This isn't a diatribe about why we lost, rather it is about the horrible officiating that seems to plague the ODAC year-in and year-out.  Bridewater stepped up and made plays when they had to to win the game.  I just hope Commissioner Bankston saw that our officiating crews need some more training- or at the very least some eye-exams.  Congrats Eagles.  Let's see if you can win the ODAC now.

I hear ya EHC......it seems officiating is getting bad at all levels. I was watching a d1 game on TV last week. A penalty was called on a punt...it was a post possession penalty against the receiving team....block in the back....guess what they did....they marked it off from the original line of scrimmage and gave the punting team a first down. it wasn't seven close to being right. the block occurred about the time the ball was coming down.....plus the ball hit the receiving team player, the punting team recovered the ball.....they said the punting team touched it first, then they marched it back and gave the punting team a first down....they stopped play for over 8 minutes trying to get that right. I can't even remember who was playing and I was ticked. The kids on the field deserve an officating crew that knows what they're doing.

So, I understand your frustration....and I like the way you presented your thoughts....+1 for you

From 99-2001 I saw the absolute worst calls and game management by officials in my life in the ODAC.

That is as HS and college player, and HS and college coach. I mean it look like they had just called a middle school game the night before.

I do not care where the game was GC-Q, BC Bow ties, EH, they were just losers.

Sound like they still are. I find it hard to believe these scum bags are making the money and not being graded and fined. If I did my job like they do theirs in the ODAC I would be unemployed.

Even the losers down in Carteret  County NC get graded. Uh... sorry Papi. just joking ;)

Another tough Saturday for Catholic in the ODAC. I didn't catch the whole game, but the Cards played well in what I saw. There were a few dropped passes, but they executed offensively about as well as I have seen them in a while.
HSC didn't wow me, but they made enough plays to show they are the better team right now. Corey Sedlar has a good arm, but he overthrew some passes. HSC was relying heavily on Drew Smith, and he had a great game. Josh Simpson is also an impressive back. Athletically he doesn't appear like anything special, but he knows how to run the ball. He has great vision and is constantly running down field and moving his feet.
Its rough for Catholic to be 0-3 in the ODAC, but they are a lot better team than they have been in the previous 3 years. This is also still a very young team, starting 4 sophomore O-lineman and with just 9 seniors on the roster. With Guilford at 0-3 it looks like the Cards have a winnable game coming up. Keep working hard Cards.

As a fan of the winning team, I find myself agreeing with EHC52 that the officals left a lot to be desired today.  I wonder particularly about several holds that were not called on EHC during their first scoring drive.  I would say that in both close games that I have seen Bridgewater play this year (HSC and EHC) the officiating has been very poor.  I too join EHC52 in calling on the league to do something about this ongoing problem in the ODAC.

Kind of funny you bring up the officiating. Bridgewater fans were complaining all day that the calls were going Emory & Henry's way, ha. There were, like RM mentioned, numerous times EHC was clearly holding and it wasn't called. I even heard Clark, who doesn't complain a whole lot, yell at the ref "at least call it fair."

Oh well. I feel your pain. Whenever BC loses, it's easy for us Eagles fans to point fingers at one play here, one play there. And it's REALLY easy to blame the refs.

Point being, us BC fans could easily say we would have been up 14-0 at the half, had it not been for two turnovers we basically handed to you all on a platter. And then our spurt in the second half would have made it 28-0 (or worse had we made out field goals).

Just be careful not to blame the officials for a loss. In any close game, again, it's easy to say "one play here, one play there." And if that's the case, then the calls the refs missed are put under a microscope.

Admit it. Our defense held you all in check all day until the final quarter (when you scored your 14 points). And I'll admit that your defense did one heck of a job on us.

Again, leave the refs out of it. Refs make bad (or miss) calls all the time in games. And to be honest, I wouldn't even say the game was called that poorly. I think you're having a knee-jerk reaction.

Great game, though. Back and forth, defense battle. Phew.

FINALLY!!!  Emory & Henry was honest about an attendance...

4,147.

I have a feeling it had something to do with us Bridgewater fans coming to town. A couple of us did do a quick count (and yes, included both stands, the end zones, up on the hill, and people who tailgated the whole time), and we estimated between 3,000 and 4,000. So kudos to the "gate counters" for getting this one right!

So where were the 10,000+ Wasp fans we hear goes to all the games?!

It was a beautiful day; it wasn't fall break for E&H; and you all were hosting a top 25 team. Seems like a recipe for a big crowd (if you in fact ever have them) to me!

I will say that the Wasp fans were very nice and accomodating.

Stone Station set up in the middle of where all the tailgating was going on, and numerous people came by and introduced themselves and said hey.

It was nice to finally meet "casper" ... and I believe olinemom and religion major met "ace."  Again, two very nice guys.
