WOW.....never dreamed the jackets would make it through their ODAC schedule without a loss. Oh...that's right...they do have one more little challenge before them.  :D Hopefully, the jackets are saving their conference loss for next Saturday. GO TIGERS!!
Seriously, who would have thunk that these two would be playing for the ODAC title two months ago?  :o UNREAL!! And I can tell you from years and years of experience....don't even bother comparing scores, considering home field advantage, etc. Jacketlawyer and K-Mack.....it's MACON week!!  ;)

Good morning, everyone.  According to the Greensboro News and Record, Josh Vogelbach's 367 yards passing versus CUA yesterday put him over 10,000 yards for his Guilford career - the 18th time that's been done in DIII.  If he stays healthy, he should be around 13,000 or better for his career.  His TD production had slowed a bit the past few weeks, but his two TD passes against the Cardinals puts him at 34 for the season and 103 for his career.  If he has a great game versus E&H, he could conceivably equal or better the 37 he had two years ago.

Speaking of the Wasps, next Saturday's game makes me a bit nervous.  Both teams have a lot to prove - neither wants to finish last in the ODAC (both are 1-4) and both want a winning season (GC is 5-4 and E&H is 4-5).  Guilford is still stinging (pun absolutely intended) from last fall's season ending loss in the final seconds.  The Quakers feel there were some inconsistent calls and clock issues in that game.  I wasn't at the game, but I'm just telling you how they feel.  The Quakers really want to win this game for a number of reasons.

It's Guilford's home game, it's Senior Day and the Quakers appear revitalized after yesterday's better offensive and defensive performances versus CUA.  I'm going to give a slight edge to Guilford in this one.  I'll be there and hope to meet any E&H posters who make the trip. Just let me know you're there and I'll say hello and show you around.  Drive carefully and see you at Armfield!  I think the E&H fans who've been to Greensboro before will be impressed with all the positive changes to the stadium.  Peace

FYI I just went to the E&H website to read about yesterday's game versus W&L and saw the last story posted was the Oct. 21 game against BC.  Nothing about the last two games has yet been entered.  Is this typical or is there some special reason it's so far behind?  In the modern era, most schools post something fairly quickly after the end of a game, so I was a bit surprised this was the latest information.

Hasa,

I would like to think that it's because it's a one-man show SID at E&H and he's extremely busy. However, I would not like to think that it's because the football department is embarassed about their last four outings. It's tough to recruit with four straight losses. It's difficult to build a program when the new sheriff in Town has a record thus far of only 11-18. Since you can't find anything on the website go to the following link : http://www.tricities.com and read the article in the Bristol Herald Courier. Montgomery makes some interesting remarks that are open to interpretation. They are not your typical football cliches' and hyperbole.

I was at last year's game at Fullerton Field when E&H and Guilford met. It was probably the most exciting football game I had ever seen in my life. Not to take anything from either team, it was just a great game.  Sorry to hear that Guilford thinks that there were inconsistencies with the calls and the game clock. Regardless, it was a tough loss.  The Wasps better be prepared to go to war next weekend against the Quakers. Pun intended. If the Wasps don't get their heads up, it's going to be another rough, rough day and another losing season.

Peace,
E&H Dad

Just checked both of E&H's web sites.

E&H vs W&L story IS posted on the main college site: ehc.edu

Game is NOT posted on schools other site: ehcsports.com  .

Why one and not the other....I don't know.

GO JACKETS!!!  I went to the game yesterday and stopped by the "legendary" Stone Station and taked to The Kid a little while and spoke with several Bridgewater fans and parents after the game even though I am obviously a R-MC fan/parent.  I was impressed by how gracious the BC fans (The Kid and his cohorts included), Coach Clark and even some players were in defeat.  The Eagles played tough the entire game and never gave up, even after it was obvious they couldn't win. The Bridgewater program has really earned my respect over the years and they didn't make any excuses about losing yesterday even though they could have.  They were very complimentary about the Yellowjackets football team and wished us well and good luck against H-SC next week.   I came away from the game not only excited and happy with a big win, but also feeling that we had just beaten a very worthy and great football team.  After my experience yesterday,  I will probably be pulling for the Eagles next weekend against Catholic.  But I will be in Ashland (early) to cheer the Yellowjacket football team on to victory against the Tigers.  A big win over Hampden-Sydney would definitely be the crowning achievement for a storybook season.  I am so proud of the R-MC Yellowjackets football team.  GO JACKETS!!!

When E&H hired Coach M I thought it would take him five years to get the program turned back in the right direction. I'm still on board with him but this has been an interesting year to say the least. I agree with EH Dad, why not use the three timeouts and make them kick. Didn't he see the Trinity tape from last week?

Hats go off to the Defense this year. They played great and deserved more help from the Offense. You win and lose as a team but the play at QB this year could have been better.

From this morning's Bristol paper:

"Pick your heads up!" said E&H coach Don Montgomery to his team after the game. "You have nothing to be ashamed of. They made one big play and that beat us. But you can't think about that. We need to be 5-5 after next week's game – that's what I need you to be thinking about right now."

If my nuts were in a vice I suppose I'd be thinking the same way, but what about what the team needs?

Todd EandH, I agree with you about running out the clock instead of forcing them to kick.  That sounds like quitting to me.  Also similar to running out the clock against CUA instead of using timeouts to try and put something together.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you though about picking on the QB.  Booher has shown in the past that he can make the reads, so I wonder if he isn't being coached up properly as of late.  It certainly doesn't help when the typical offensive series of late has been zone right, zone right, pass, punt.  I stand by my argument that coaches need to put players in the best position to make plays, i.e. not blitzing on 3 and 10 with a minute left and a 3 point lead.  Kudos to the W&L for recognizing that E&H was playing "man-press" (Jack Martin's words) and making the hot adjustment.  Like EHD, what happened to playing prevent D?

As mentioned yesterday, this year's RMC team reminds me a lot of the BC teams from 2002-2005. You are set up to use the same gameplan to beat HSC that BC did during the Ricca years. Ball control and dominate the time of possession. If HSC's high powered offense isn't on the field it can't score! Your running back is a downhill runner who was almost never tackled by the first defender. Your QB made the throws he needed to make. If RMC dosn't turn the ball over, it won't surprise me at all if they take care of HSC next week. I'll even go a step further and say with the right match-up, they could win a first round playoff game as well. Yesterday's game in my eyes was between a team playing with confidence and another trying to find it's lost identity. ;) Good luck next weekend!

e h dad -

Thanks for the information on how to find E&H football recaps.  I just wanted to see how the game versus W&L flowed and what to expect against Guilford on Saturday.  Also, you know how these things go when a game goes down to the wire like last year.  From Guilford's perspective, one of E&H's passes on the sideline was out of bounds and they felt too much time was left on the clock on a couple of plays during the final drive by the Wasps.  It's hermeneutics - where two people can see exactly the same play yet see the outcome in two diametrically opposed ways.  No big deal, but what makes sports great I guess.

Hope to see you in Greensboro November 10.  Peace

Well spoken.  As will I.  I had to work this weekend, which prevented a trip to Bridgewater, and an appearance at Stone Station.  The Stone Station fellas are all classy guys, and I hope to see them all at the Stagg Bowl.  That they were gracious comes as no surprise at all. 8)

Rivalry Week starts tomorrow.  YA-HOOOOOOOO!  Will enjoy this week for the first time in a long time.  Go JACKETS.

Thanks Olinemom.  Mentioned on an earlier post why I was unable to get up to Bridgewater on Saturday.  Hopefully I'll get some brownies at the Stagg Bowl. ;D

Good luck to the Eagles this weekend! :)
