Speaking of stadiums, any truth to the rumor that RMC is going to upgrade their current stadium?. I heard they were going to build a new Home grandstand on the opposite side where the baseball outfield is currently and turn the current home stands into the visitor side moving the baseball field else where. After seeing HSC's new football field and plans for W & L's new stadium, I guess it is time to keep up with the JONES.

My bad on the stadiums!!! I thought someone had told me there were two or three in NN.

Actually is was the Shiners bowl against NNA when my son was playing in 98 or 99

Oyster Bowl? If so, that was Darling Stadium in Hampton. Or it could have been a Shriners Bowl I'm not aware of...you could have played anywhere down here....I've never been to NNA's field so I couldn't comment on that. NNASID probably knows what game you are talking about. What team did your son play for?

Darling sounds right.. I'll have to ask sid. Could have been Oyster bowl but the shriners were there.. My son kicked  for Wesley

That would be correct.  When we played Wesley in the Oyster Bowl the first time it was at Darling.  That was the first Oyster Bowl game since the mid-to-late 80s (I believe on the dates..dont hold me there).  The Oyster Bowl benefits the Shriners Hospital for Children.

That wouldve been the site where your son kicked.  We played you in the Oyster Bowl again a couple years ago but that one was here at Apprentice.  The game was going to be at Darling, but heavy rains the weekend before pushed high school games back to Tuesday night of the next week and we would've been like the 4th game out of 7 that week.  So we got the game moved to our field, where with no soccer or field hockey games (teams for us) on it, our field still looks and plays great after a major rain.

Years ago, (I am telling my age now) the Oyster Bowl used to be played at Foreman Field in Norfolk. That stadium is now owned by Old Dominion University and is being enlarged for ODU's new football program that will kick off in 2009.

Just noticed on Averett's web site that they have posted the 2008 schedule already and have Bridgewater scheduled as the 1st game. Dunlevy loves to play the best.

Can't speak to that; I've heard nothing about it,at least to date.  Some of our baseball field is pretty much permanent.

But keeping up with the JONESES you mentioned isn't a bad thing.  If true, I'm glad to see the money going where the mouth is!! 8)

GO AMHERST LANCERS....ONE MORE TO GO....CRUSH THE SHERANDO WARRIORS!!!  ;D

Allsky, I heard that Amherst has two or three kids going to play at Tech next year and are favored heavily, but let me know what you think of Sherando's QB Metheny.  The kid has been nothing short of amazing this year.

My source (a local newspaper writer) told me five kids from Amherst were heading to Virginia Tech next season (one being a walk-on).

To all my ODAC and DIII friends, I'm really sorry I will now not be able to attend next Saturday's Stagg Bowl.  I already offered my apology to Llamaguy.

As luck would have it, my boss just changed the company holiday dinner from Friday night to Saturday night at 5:30 pm.  I live 2 hours from Salem and the kickoff is at 4, so you see the problem.  Since I'm one of the four people who lead our plant, I have to go.

Have a great time and know I wish I could be there!  :)

Why is HSC garnering so many accolades ? Four of the last five O-POY , three of the last five Dudley awards(Conrad was a runner-up)and now Two Gagliardi finalist in the last three years?

Olinemom

Because the have had outstanding players, that's why!!  They can't there with only Marty voting for them.  The others have to vote, too.  I don't get a vote, but he was the determing factor in our defeat!!  I did get to vote for him in the fan vote for the Gagliardi vote, Drew Smith, that is.   ;D ;D

The only two that I know for sure are Rose (QB) and McCoy (TE). I knew there was at least one more going to VT but not sure. My neighbors son goes to ACHS so I will see if I can find out more info on the others.
Speaking of the LANCERS.....congratulations on their 56 to 10 victory over Sherando in the AA Division 4 SC yesterday. The Lancers are just on a different level. My congrats to the Sherando Warriors for a great season before running into the Amherst buzzsaw. They seemed to be a well coached and classy bunch.
The QB (#15) for Sherando is a very good QB. He  methodically led them down the field on the opening series of the game and scored. He got hurt in the first half yesterday and only played a little in the second half. Doubtful it would have had any impact on the final result of the game but no doubt hurt Sherando with him not in there. #29, the RB for Sherando is a solid player too. It is very difficult to play O, D, and special teams against a quality opponent and not take a pounding. I think he was hurting by halftime.
Llama and Skoal.......sorry I missed you yesterday but I WILL find you this coming Saturday.  ;)
