Well everybody. It still sucks here. It seems "they" (I hate they) are still trying to whack me. It must be a coincidence.

I do not have time to check the back log so can somebody give me a ODAC dump in 4-5 sentences. Who got fired, who signed the next Air Vogel, who is going to win the ODAC. Be quiet Skoal because I know your answer. Speaking of Skoal I almost ran out last week. Talk about the shakes.

Dust, dirt, gunships, vehicles getting carbonized, just another day in hell. No wait....Rwanda was hell. This is just a sub level
Hey, abnrgr.  Good to hear from you!  This board's been pretty quiet, actually (see bird fart question as a measure of the desperation!).  As far as I know, no coaching changes, but I do see the comments about BC's Clark.  I saw GC Coach Kiesel at a basketball game last Saturday and he said he had 34 recruits in that morning.  No specifics, but he seemed really enthusiastic about the future for the Quakers.  Air Vogel's last season coming up - Joiner is now gone, but lots of other receivers in the lineup.  I thought the Quakers would go 8-2 last season, but the injury bug helped drop them to 6-4.  I'm still thinking 8-2 is a reasonable goal for 2008.  Who'll win the ODAC?  Hard to say - lots of teams - W&L, BC, GC, RMC, HSC and even E&H - have reason for optimism.  Heck, CUA also has skilled kids who are now upperclassmen.  It should be wide open next fall.  Take care, my friend.

mike clark named as one of the finalist for the vmi job on a scoop site as well as a vmi fan site. 3 others also named.

I was just told that the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports VMI has offered Sparky Woods (former coach at South Carolina and UVA) the HC position.

Any news on Lynchburg's study whether to add football?

BTEXPRESS

I would think that Lynchburg & Roanoke(with their renovated stadium) would seriously think about adding Football. It is an oppourtunity to bring 80 to 100 more student athletes onto campus and add additional atmosphere to a campus on the weekends.

And don't forget Randolph -- previously Randolph-Macon Woman's. They could definitely use one.

What better way to attract males to a school than to start a football team. In Randolph's case it might be a little more expensive because they don' t have the facilities in place like Roanoke & Lynchburg do. However, what what the ODAC do if these schools did start teams? I guess if they had enough, they could split the conference into two divisions, but you would have to make sure each had 7 to keep the automatic qualifier for the NCAA playoffs.

That was the strategy for Mary Hardin-Baylor.  They were founded as the Female Department of Baylor University in 1845.  In 1929, there was a disastrous fire on campus that almost bankrupted the college.  In the 1930's, the Hardin's (Mary and John G. Hardin) "saved the college" with a large gift.  In 1934, the name was changed to MHB College.  UMHB went coed in 1971, but the college finally moved to the next level by adding male sports and especially football in 1998 (by current president, Dr Jerry G. Bawcom.)

The ODAC can handle 10 teams.  Also, remember that Catholic is an affiliate who might move to another conference if "necessary".

Randolph, Lynchburg and Roanoke would give 10 teams.  Breaking into two divisions would take away a regular season date, and might add a harmful loss when considering Pool C.  (The ASC had 10 teams for 6 years.)

BTEXPRESS

Ralph, Thanks for the history lession. I didn't realize that UMHB had been co ed for so long before they staryed Football. As far as the ODAC, I agree that there would not be a reason to split if they had 10 teams playing football. I was originally thinking there would be more than 10. Your comments are always interesting. Keep them coming!

You're welcome, abnrgr.  For several years the ODAC was easy to call - i.e, BC - now not so much!  Personally, I'd like to the see the Quakers get a title!  Stay safe!

I've heard you sing so I know you didn't teach him that.

If he was trying to hit an 88 mph fastball while severely hungover, I could believe you taught him that;  or, if he was trying to beer bong 6 beers prior to scoring 3 goals in an intramural soccer game, I could believe you taught him that;  But singing... no way!

He actually had one of the worst performances. :-\  Hopefully he will make the cut and pick a better song next week.

That's funny stuff right there.  As Coach Spencer always told me, "Sometimes you have to play hurt."  Hangover and all.
