Three? (3?)

Where has anyone said there were three??  One's too many, just curious.

I can honestly say as a player there is not a single Coach in the country more concerned with academics, personal life, and anything else you can thing of than Coach Monty.

No offense, but unless you played for all 239 other head coaches as well, you can't come even close to making that claim. That doesn't mean he isn't concerned, but let's drop the hyperbole.

Personal feelings aside, this is an embarrassing situation that hopefully the entire ODAC will learn from.  People didn't pay attention after it happened to Guilford, but hopefully now our schools will take a closer look at who ends up on the field.  Everyone tosses around "student-athletes" to describe D3 players.  We can't forget that "student" comes before "athlete."

Pat, You are correct i did not play for any other college coach. So let me put it like this. I think it would be hard to put in the time, passion, and dedication to each student lke Coach Monty does. I am sure there are some out there, and I applaud all that are like him.  He is a players coach not in the ways that most imagine a players coach, but in the ways that he is not only a leader on the field but a leader in the way he lives his life.

My goal with my response to the situation was to give some of those people out there that assume they know Monty and assume he did this to get an edge, a differnet view point on the man.

Pat in all honesty I still feel my intial post is true. but that is just my opinion in which i am entitled.

absolutely...i never implied any intent...i don't think e&h purposefully used ineligible player(s), but i would expect the head coach to buck up, be a man and take responsibility for his own program - instead he seems to be passing it off to someone else ("our institution made a mistake") and it seems to me that he doesn't understand that winning outside of the rules isn't ok ("If [the NCAA] wants to hold us accountable for that, so be it. But we still won those games. You can't take that away.")

in the spirit of teaching life lessons it seems to me that the bigger thing to do would be to take responsibility and the punishment and learn from those things...but i might be alone in thinking this...who knows

i understand that these things can happen at ANY institution (including my beloved MU)...people make mistakes - i've just always been of the mind set that when you make a mistake, own it and learn from it

I concur narch, when your winning percentage is 23.3% you may want to buck up and tow the company
line, not blaming the institution for your football teams problems. The AD showed the class you would expect when the NCAA sanctions you for mistakes made.

Did some spring cleaning today, found my ticket stub from the Wesley-HSC playoff game. If there's a Sydney fan out there who is interested in it (I'm a big nerd, I keep stuff like this for BC) then private message me your name/address and I'll send it to you (free, of course). It's in perfect condition (no crease).

Here's a scan;

To show you how much of a collectibles nerd I am, I had to take this one out of a frame to scan...

Any BC fans still have theirs? If you do, you may notice we sat on the Mount Union side (ugh). Good seats though!

This may be old stuff for some, but I am just trying to get some talk going during the dry season here.

You have the following rivalries between USC & UCLA, Alabama & Auburn, Michigan & Michigan State, Ohio State & Michigan, Florida & Florida State, Virginia & Virginia Tech.....so who are the rivalries in the ODAC? Is it Bridgewater & Hampton Sydney, RMC & W&L, or Emory Henry & Hampton Sydney? Sound off, who do you thing the big rivalries are. Or, are they with out of conference teams like Greensboro & Guildford?

Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon is the oldest at over 110 years.  But as far as the quality of football played, at bit lacking until this past year.  The Tigers have won 7 or 8 straight.

RMC has lost 7 in a row but Pedro is only 0-4 and the margin of victory has been less in each consecutive
year.

That is a long time and lots of history and tradition. Were these two teams D1 like Washington & Lee was at one time? Averett is old but it's football program is only 6 or 7 years old. Wow, 110 years...that has to be a 200 question and answer paper just on those two teams playing each other. Do you know what the overall record is?
