Whatever happened to Tiger C.W. Clemmons? Obviously a long shot but I thought that he might have a chance somewhere. Big dude with good wheels. Don't really know much about his heart or work ethic. Anyone know whether he got a shot in anyones camp or not?  8)

Was on the campus at E&H yesterday. Someone must have donated some cabbage. They are re-doing the football field turf AND the basketball floor.  :D Anyone know if they are putting down new sod or installing field turf? The old turf was gone but they hadn't started with the new yet.

I heard they wanted the fastes field in the ODAC, so they are using asphalt.

Yeah....and now they are saying Field Turf is toxic. All these schools that put it down, will probably have to pull it up or risk lawsuits. You know, I walked on the FT over at Liberty U recently and I've felt kinda sickly ever since. Jacketlawyer...what do you say? Do we have a case? I really would like to retire early....uh, I mean be compensated for all my pain and suffering.  :'(  Let me know because I'm sure Skolrod and Scumbucket up in Roanoke will take my case. :D  :D

e & h is installing new artificial turf, field lighting and perimeter fencing.  this will be finished before kickoff in september.  after the season, they will construct a new field house, press box, entrance areas and scoreboard as well as improvements to the seating areas.

I believe the old-style astroturf is what's been called toxic.

Pat,

Not sure what you mean by "old style" but there have been some local reports that the Field Turf installed in the last few years at several of the Lynchburg area schools may have some problems.

That story is unfortunate, because it's astroturf fields that are being tested in New Jersey, not Field Turf.

"The story broke in New Jersey, where state health officials randomly tested levels of lead in artificial turf fields. Levels were so high at two of the fields, they had to shut them down."

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/04/19/turf.lead.ap/

"Both nylon fields were AstroTurf brand surfaces."

While I have never played on Field Turf, I love the look and feel of it from just walking on it. It is certainly a far cry better than the old Astro Concrete from the days of old. Hopefully, this will turn out to be nothing because it seems like it is the direction a lot of people are going. I'll post anything new I hear about it here locally.

Snakehandler

After reading the three articles, it sounds like it is the "old" Astroturf that is starting to break down chemically.  The new Omniturf is not the problem.
On a side note the first article written by Jeremy Mills, was kind of crap. He made way too many generalizations.

Do you have an actual link for this breaking news? Not in the Greensboro News-Record.
