The coaching staff at GC-Q needs to have a "smoke session" Monday afternoon. Run them until they are puking buttermilk.  Gag me with a sharp spoon.  :-[

Hang in there, abnrgr.  I bet the GC-Q coaching staff was crazy during and after the loss to AU!  Not sure how many laps they need to make them run, but it sure won't get any easier at Sydney this coming Saturday!

Quick Week 3 Summary

Randolph Macon finally wins the game. Hampden Sydney and Catholic are both 3-0. Guilford falls for the first time. Bridgewater and Emory and Henry are still rebuilding.

Saw Catholic and McDaniel, and its hard to take much from that game. The 31-7 score was impressive, but Catholic wasn't great. They weren't consistent with the run, and the receivers dropped a lot of balls. However, McDaniel just isn't that talented of a team, and Catholic was able to make some big plays.

Ricca did a good job of controlling the ball, and Catholic's only turnover was an interception on a heave right before the half. If Catholic improves a few things with their offense and continues to keep their turnovers down, they should be a good team. They are certainly capable of being better, and should have put up a few more TDs against McDaniel today. Against better teams they will need to improve on the small things.

Glad we got a win on Saturday, but we'd better be ready to play you guys this weekend when CU comes to Ashland.  Could be a very good game. ;D

Appears the HSC defense turned the corner this past weekend, basically shutting down a pretty good King's College team.

It will interesting to see how the "D" responds to the pressure Guilford's offense will put on them.

If the "D" can continue with the effort/results established this past weekend, the Tigers may well successfully defend their ODAC title.

Should get interesting as we go into league play this weekend.

Good Luck to all !!!!!!

tigerfanalso ... I agree that the King's game was a good beginning, but let's see how the defense does this week against Guilford. That may be prove to be a truer test.

Lets hope Saturday was he beginning of a new era and the defense will continue to play that way the remainder of the season. Those guys were flying to the ball and really looked good. King's had no answer. Time will tell if King's just isn't that good or if our defense is getting better.

Go Tigers !!!!

Booher quit at Emory Monday.

Anyone got any details?  That qb/center exchange can be tough.

Kinda glad he is gone.  Play like Romo (the positive aspects) one week and can't
even get the snap the next.

Good riddance.

BTEXPRESS

What happened to W & L's returning QB,? I see they are now starting a Freshman and don't even see the old QB's name on the current roster.

TheEHC52

Casper what kind of jackass are you?  It's never good when a guy quits, especially a good guy like Booher.  I don't want to sound like Stan Gundy, but lay off individual player attacks.

SCguy

The QB quit. He saw the new OC wants to run his option offense and RJ is more a traditional QB. Westfall is an option QB. They pretty much gave Westfall the O from day 1 so RJ figured it wasn't going to get any better for him and he wanted to devote his time to his studies. The kid was FOY and now is out of the game. That's how quickly it can change in a program.

SaintsFAN

How do players react to something like that now-a-days?

When I was in school (many moons ago), we had one guy quit during the season over playing time... he was an outcast as a result.  Many guys had playing time changed... hell we even had a LB elected as Captain for his junior season... got benched after two games and never again saw more than kickoff coverage.  He committed to the team for the season and didn't give up on us because his role changed.

Maybe this QB will have a change of heart after thinking it over, and if he does, hopefully his mates forgive the betrayal.

Apparently he felt that given the time committment and where his academic career is, football had to take a backseat.  I can see that if you are helping the team and making a substantial contribution to the team, then you're willing to pile FB time on top of your academic time load. If you see that the program has headed off in another direction and "your services are no longer needed" then you revert back to the primary directive of your presence in college: the degree.

BTEXPRESS

SC, Thanks for the update. It just goes to show you the downside of college sports even at the Divison III level. Here was a very talented and athletic kid who started as a Freshman  and Sophomore and with an internal coaching change he is on the outside looking in. He is doing the right thing getting his studies in order and we sometimes forget that getting that degree is more important in the game of life.

EHC52 - I'm the kind of jackass that prefers someone like that would have done
that type of evaluation in the offseason instead of being an individual and putting
the team in a situation like this.  Obviously his head has not been in the game all season.

You and I both know he has probably been on the fence about playing.

Unless there is some medical, family or academic reason - quitting during the season
is pretty damn selfish if you ask me....don't care how much of a "good guy" you are.

Let's just hope it isn't "girl problems" or something social like that.
