Good point!  lol  ... but I was referring to George and Robert E.'s extra bling!  Now, if they were only reverse pickpockets like the Burger King!  :)

Hope you'all get it in gear this weekend against So. Va.  We have a formidable task with HS coming to town!  Our team is so young and green, but they have played well in spurts.  Afraid if they down play the whole game at 120% that it will be a long afternoon, but the Olinemom will be there to cheer no matter what!!!
Thanks, I'll be leaving for the game soon ... 7 pm start tonight.  It sure feels weird going to a Friday night college game!  I hope to see you and the Stone Station crew in Greensboro on the 18th!

Final:  Guilford 47 - Southern Virginia 31

Hey, everyone.  Odd, but entertaining, game at Guilford tonight.  SVU ran more plays 96-62, had more total yards 484-420, won the ground game 203-152, had more passing yards 281-268 and dominated TOP 34:34 to 25:26, ... but lost!  Guilford trailed early 14-7, but took the lead, 19-14, just before the half.  SVU scored first in the 2nd half to take a 21-19 lead, but Jordan Nelson took the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to put the Quakers up for good, 27-21.  An SVU field goal then challenged GC, 27-24, but the Quakers scored 3 unanswered TD's in the 3rd and 4th Quarters to take a commanding 47-24 lead.  SVU got an almost meaningless late TD pass to close it out.

Despite their 1-5 record, SVU is better than they were last season.  You'd expect them to lose to McNeese State and Morehead State, but I now understand how they stomped Lincoln and challenged W&L.  The Knights have a good QB (who can run their option Offense), an explosive RB, a good kicker and a bruising TE.

Guilford scored 7 TD's in 4 different ways:  3 by air (good to see Vogelbach back in form), 2 Justin Parker TD runs (now 7 TD's and 109 net yards - when's the last time a Guilford runner had 3 games over a 100?), Nelson's long kickoff return and a 90-yard fumble recovery (Josh Singletary held the ball in the air the last 10-yards and got a 15-yard taunting penalty - when will the NCAA change this ridiculous rule?).  Weak spots were, duh, the Defense (although they got 2 INT's, they dropped about 5 and gave up yards in bunches!  Why can't we stop a team facing 3rd and 17 - it makes me crazy to see the opposition get a 1st down!), 2 missed PAT's and a blocked punt.  There were some bright spots, however:  monster night for WR Kevin Vaughn - 12 catches for 193 yards and 2 scores, of 60 and 36!

Statistical anomaly:  SVU had zero punts.  Their only attempted punt was a 4th and 12 at the 18.  The punter bobbled the snap and then scampered for 12 yards - 1st down!  I see why coaches get ulcers!  lol

Anyway, Guilford's now 3-2 with 15 days off until BC visits.  Safe travels and injury-free games to all!  Peace

A big hello from Va. where we have Homecoming and Hampden-Sydney tomorrow.  At 1-3 we are having a rebuilding year, that's for sure.  Llamaguy is in Cancun celebratng some wedding anniversary, but Stone Station will be going strong.  What's the news with CruAlum39?  How's his team playing this year?  I went to Lycoming last week; on the way up I managed to kiss concrete with the back of my head.  Needless to say it's been a BAD WEEK, but I'm going to live.  However, Lycoming shot off a canon every time it scored in the first half, which was often!!  I had to take refuge under the stadium in the ladies' room to get away from the noise.  Luckily the second half is when our team showed up but we left our canon at home! (You never know when the North is going to attack again! :):) )  All the best of luck, I would love to see your team make it to Salem!!   Olinemom

Olinemom,
Thanks for asking.  Just got back from CruAlum39's game tonight.  They won 28-14.  Their record is now 2-2 (they did not play one game because of some guy named Ike!).  They lost the first week to a school in a higher classification and got beat last week by the district favorite when they missed on a two point play to tie the game in the last few seconds.  He has a pretty good chance to make the Texas HS playoffs this year, but we'll have to wait and see.

The ODAC board is different this year without the kid around.  :(  I hope you, Llamaguy and the rest of the Stone Station crew hang in there.  I know exactly what it feels like to be in a rebuilding year and it is not near as much fun.  I have plans to make the Stagg Bowl again and look forward to seeing you guys again.  Best of luck!!

I am going to watch UMHB and Hardin Simmons tomorrow.

Go Roos!!  Go Cru!!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Stone station was set up last night and everybody was full of conviviality.  Please do come up.  We are having brisket, mac & cheese and tons of other good food!  Llamaguy is celebrating with Mrs. Llamaguy in Cancun and Cozumel (ain't that nice!!) and Skoal was in charge last night when I left.  Snake was playing poker and talking about the ham pot pie he was making this morming.  Oil Can & Papa Oil Can were at the festivities as well.  BC Photos, Chris and the 2 puppies were there.  Chris was making bacon-wrapped shrimp, crab cakes and some kind of salmon for last night.  There was chili as well.  I heard Peggy say that there would be chili for today as well.  Now if the football can play 2 halfs of football, even if they don't win, I would be a happy olinemom!  Hope to see you later today.  Came in too late to check the boards cause it was up at 6 to make the home-made mac & cheese  Only the pasta came out of a box!!   :) :)
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

The Tigers star RB Josh Simpson is a game time decision today with a foot issue.
BC's secondary will have to excel today for the Eagles to have a chance.
Looking forward to Homecoming. Go BC!

beenhit2hard

The beenhit2hards are having a Low Country Boil at home today,, thinking of all of you at the Stone Station , and that is quite a menu,,and watching football,, no d3 games close to Chincoteague today,,, but the ponies DID win last night !!!

Vince Reese gave the Eagles a spark but BC lost 37-34. This was a tough loss because a win would have shaken up the balance of power in the ODAC.
Coach Clark took this loss pretty hard but scoring 28 points in the 4th Quarter was impressive to me. The penalties are the only thing standing between BC and a winning record in the ODAC. Hopefully, the guys can improve during the bye week.

HSCTiger74

Well, I thought that the Tigers had turned the corner defensively, but today's game shows that there is still a little more progress to be made. Then again, it's never easy to go in and get a win at Bridgewater, so I'll take it. Congrats to the Eagles and their fans on a good game, and WAY TO GO H-SC.

Congratulations to the HSC Tigers on a hard fought victory.  I really want to commend the Bridgewater Eagles for the heart that they showed in coming back from a 37 - 14 deficit in the 4th quarter.  HSC learned that you can never relax too early.  They escaped with one today in a difficult place to win.  Go Tigers.

Still in Iraq looking from the outside in. Went from 125 to 89 in one week. A little cool feeling. Made me think of football and how fortunate the US is to go to footbal games instead of planning how to drive 15km without getting carbonized or my favorite: atomized.

It seems that things are cyclic as usual. HSC beating BC? Who'd uh thunk it after the run BC had from 98-2005. Lots of domination during that time. Some close games too. Gloating too.

GC-Q beating someone they should have beat? Miracle? Naw.... just NC State giving up another stud. Vogelbach and 6 years ago Barnett or Mr. Glideomatic. Thanks Wolfpack.

Of all the games we get to watch (live) in Iraq I got to see Vandy again. Looking forward to the SAT bowl. Duke and Vandy. LOL.

You guys remember how good it is to be where you are even if you lose.
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

Thank you for your service to this nation and for us all.  I also thank you for your perspective.  Sometimes we get way to caught up in our own little issues.  What you are doing with your service makes us all proud of all of the men and women in the Armed Services.  Thanks again.

abnrgr - The Vandy game turned out to be a good one.  The Commodores, 5-0!  First time since 1943.  :)

Stay safe and we'll keep a tailgate spot open for you!

Thanks Stone Station for your hospitality yesterday. As always, it was first class. Good talking with Skoal, Religion Major, Olinemom, Oil Can, Snake, BCEagle, & Peggy (not sure if she post). Hope I didn't miss anybody. I know some of the rest of you I talked with probably do but don't know your online name. I now have faces to go with a few more posters.
Since we covered the analysis of the game pretty thoroughly yesterday, I will leave it short and to the point. Whew.. take the tough road W Tigers and move on!! Better days are ahead for the Eagles.
Oh...and one more thing. Llama...you have known for how long that BC and H-S played on October 4th?!?! Once a BC/HS game is lost, it can never be recovered. You can go to Mexico any ole time!!  ;) :D
