Don't you think that the way the East plays out has a big impact on how many bids the south gets? Hard to see a 3 from the E8 again unless SJF get the auto bid

I'm even wondering if there will be a repeat of two years ago when such 9-1 teams as Franklin and Cortland St. were left out of the dance. There might be a lot of good 9-1 Pool C candidates: Hardin-Simmons; UW-Whitewater; Montclair St./Rowan winner; Wheaton -- not to mention how the E8 shapes up. But would be some 8-2 teams in there, and that may not factor in real well.

Until the regional rankings come out, I don't know exactly how the NCAA front office sees the E8, but right now, is Hardin-Simmons the only "sure thing" in the South Region Pool C waters? Maybe.

Of course, that depends on a lot of other games and expectations that the region's big dogs will win out.

Further, what if Thomas More beats W&J this weekend. Then TM may get the automatic qualifier putting yet another team (W&J) as a 9-1 Pool C option.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Lots of ball left to be played but I guess the reality is as history has shown, you must take care of business on the field. Unfortunately, some good teams will get left out again this year. Ryan, got your text but not until this AM. Just figured I'd post my comments about the game on here instead of replying.

HSC85

I want to congratulate Catholic on a game well played.  They made every play that they needed to win.  There are no excuses.  HSC was not ready to play and they got in a hole that they could not get out of.  There are always breaks in every game.  To be undefeated you need to find a way to win when things don't go your way.  Saturday HSC came up short and now they don't control their own destiny.  They need for another team to beat Catholic.  But before that can help them they must win two difficult games.  They are off next week but must make a long trip to an undefeated Huntindon.  Then in The Game anything can happen.  So the Tigers must regroup and finish out the season strong before any talk of playoff possibilies can happen.

Muchacho,

Nice pick in the Pick-em.  You had faith in your boys and they delivered.  Catholic played a very impressive game on both sides of the ball.  HSC looked tentative and uncomfortable especially in the first half.

Sounds like there were some good games played this weekend in the ODAC.

The Generals had numerous chances to beat Guilford but just could not capitalize. The W&L pass defense is just not getting it done. I didn't think Sitterson was going to be able to play and I guess he was okay considering his 300+ all purpose yards.  He played a heck of a game, but it wasn't enough and the defense didn't make enough plays.  They have been playing better then I thought on offense though, considering how young they are.

I thought the HSC offense led by Josh Simpson would be too much for Catholic.  Simpson had a monster game with 228 yards from scrimmage and 3tds.  Sounds like Catholic played very well and both sides of the ball.  When you throw for 400 yards and intercept 4 passes on defense you should win everytime.  Like I said last week, HSC pass defense was 201st in the country for a reason, they just aren't very good. Looks like Catholic's passing attack exposed HSC's weakness in the secondary.

I did think Emory was going to knock off Bridgewater. Wasps have a very good defense and it sounds like they finally got the guy they need at QB.  The win sets up a big game this week vs. Catholic.

I just found out that Coach S was inducted into the HSC Hall of Fame.
I have been totally out of the loop, had I known I certainly would have been there for that great event. Please give him my best and congratulations. Your Dad is a great guy. Taught me alot about football but more about life. I truly think the world of him. Your are a lucky boy to have him for your Dad.

At the beginning of the season, Coach Montgomery told me that Rob Grande, last year's wide receivers coach, was promoted to defensive coordinator. I can't verify that on the E&H Web site, but I assume that's still the case. Grande used to be the linebackers coach at Salisbury.

Thank you and I agree about my good fortune. Have a pretty darn good mom too!! I will certainly give him your regards. It was not put on the HS web site until around last Tuesday and I haven't seen anything in the The Herald as yet. There aren't many staff/professors  from that era left on campus but most all were there. There were a handful of players as well. If you haven't seen the new HOF room in Gammon, it is quite impressive. It is amazing how many of those guys I know and saw play.
It was truly a great and emotional weekend despite the rain and the disappointing L. Catholic is a good football team. I congratulate them for making big plays and for taking advantage of miscues but this was not the Tigers best effort. The Tiger D played exceptionally well in the 2nd half but the "immaculate reception" was a back breaker. Instead of 1st and 10 Tigers in Catholic territory down 27 to 21, it ended up 1st and goal Catholic on the Tiger 3 yard line. Absolute killer!! Hopefully, the Tigers can step up and earn their way into the playoffs.
On another note...being the tough nose blue collar player that you were, you may appreciate this. Dad dedicated his award to all the players in H-S history (that aren't in the HOF) that busted their ass on the field and in the classroom that made the program what it is today. I thought that was pretty cool!! (Disclaimer: These are my words...not his.  :D)

It does not surprise me at all that your Dad would think of others during his moment of glory; that is just the kind of man he is and another reason so many people think the world of him. And you are right about your Mom, she is a very special person as well.

The Tigers played their worse game of the year and deserved to get beat. Hopefully they will learn from it and play the last two games of the year the way they are capable of playing. Saturday's performance was just awful, no other words can be used to describe it. Catholic earned the victory and I congratulate them.

Hope to meet you soon !!!!

Congratulations to your folks, Allsky! 8)  This is quite the honor, and well deserved, if memory serves! :)

Thanks hasa,  jacket and tiger!! I am going to do my best to be at The Game Nov 15th. I may not know until the week of whether I can make it. Perhaps we can get a little tailgate going or something.  ;D

jacketlawyer - How about a friendly wager on the Quakers and Jackets?  Let's see, it's at your place and you beat us handily last year ... will you give me 3 1/2 points for the proverbial RC and moon pie?  lol  In a PM, we can probably work out an even more coveted prize - although some would say that's impossible!  :)

Round One

First, I apologize for my absence after such a critical game.

Second, Keith Ricca is an awesome quarterback.

Third, I have never seen the Tigers so flat on both side of the ball. One or the other, yes, but never both sides on the same day.

No question Catholic game-planned HSC well and executed to perfection. Especially in the first half. I agree with the immaculate reception being the back breaker, but the pick inside the 10 on a Sedlar pass to Gillette, and the subsequent two, yes two, roughing the kicker calls also played a big part in the result. Taking nothing away from Catholic, they seemed to know what the Tigers were doing even before the Tigers did. And, they missed at least two INTs that the defender broke on and had slip out of his fingers.

Grats to CUA; now, the Tigers have to get a little help from either Bridgewater, E&H, or Guilford. All good teams that can be tough to beat. In addition, the Tigers have to knock off Macon, and a win against Huntingdon, while not critical, can still help.
