Came back a little sooner than I thought I would.  I know that stats are just stats and "that's why they play the games on Saturdays," but just glancing through who RMC has played this year and looking at what they've done, I have a hard time seeing this one stay close.  Just a few stats to throw out there on which I base my argument.

Points Per Game
RMC- 27.9
MUC- 46.8
Points Allowed Per Game
RMC- 24
MUC- 6
Total Offense
RMC- 348 yards
MUC- 541 yards
Total Defense
RMC- 335.2 yards
MUC- 158 yards

By no means am I saying don't support your team and don't be proud of winning your conference and making the playoffs, I am merely giving my opinion of this week's upcoming game.

Way to go out on a limb there raider!!  :D Sorry for the SA post but you set yourself up for that one.  ;)

raiderfan1983

I was holding back on my prediction because I didn't want the entire room to hate me until at least Thursday, but oh well.  Here it goes anyway.  I still don't think I'm going out on a limb here...

Mount- 66
RMC- 0

RMC might get a junk touchdown in the fourth, that's where half of the points against Mount have come this year, but I like the chances of a shut-out.

Edit: half the points against Mount
They should have practiced harder.

R-MC struggled early in the year, but have played much better the second half of the season.  Obviously, this is a David v. Goliath type of matchup.  I'm not going to predict a score, and I'm not really into comparing statistics, and it's a certainty Mount is a HEAVY favorite.  They should not lose this game under any circumstances.  That's what makes their record so impressive over the last 12 years.  So many times Mount has nothing to gain, and everything to lose, like this week.  Not a great position to be in, but they handle it beautifully.

All signs point to more of the same, especially stats, but at least Macon gets a chance to play a game against such a phenomenal powerhouse.  I don't think there's ever been anything like the program created and maintained at Mount Union.

No doubt that you are fun people and I wish everyone safe travels and a good time at the ball game this weekend.  I highly recommend the pre-game brunch at the Campus Center (for the money, you can't beat it).  The smaller divisions of college football have it right, and making the playoffs is something to be proud of.  Raider fans like me have been spoiled by nearly two decades of unbelievable success.  Don't let anyone pooh-pooh a trip to the playoffs.
They should have practiced harder.

The Forgotten Man

Good luck RMC.

Let's hope there are many Davids slaying Goliaths this Saturday--especially in the South Region too.

Go get 'em Yellowjackets.

This topic has come up before but the only one on the D3 level I can think of is Hobart lacrosse. They had a heck of a run some years back. Certainly nothing even close as far a football goes.  8)

As Thurmond Munson would've said, "I'm just glad to be here."

ODAC football is not on the same level as the OAC football, but an ODAC title, a victory over your arch-rival, and a playoff berth are difficult things to complain about.  GO JACKETS.

Well said and I agree.  If you can get to the game you will like the setting at Mount.  To follow your team is fun and the players appreciate it so much.  Do  get to the brunch, I do not think you will be disappointed.  You will find 90% of Mount fans very friendly and welcoming.  If the weather is not the best, you may want to, if there are any available, to sit as a group under the grandstand.  It helps so much when the wind or other things get ugly.  Your team must play it best ever, more important, it must practice, it's best ever, just to try to keep up.  Great risk, great reward. Good luck, it is always fun  to go up against the better teams, meet the challenge.

Well said.  You can't achieve greatness without taking that first step!  Hope your players, coaches and fans take the trip to MUC as a great experience.   Make sure you enjoy every minute of the playoff ride.  I'm sure there are 200 other schools wishing they were in your shoes this week.  It's a million times better than hanging up your pads for the last time.

For anyone traveling to Ohio, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is nearby (Canton) where all the better hotels and places are.  It's well worth taking in if you have another day to spend.  Also recommend the pre-game brunch.  It's only 25 yards from the stadium and it is awfully hard to beat a great buffet for $6-7 bucks ;D

As far as the ODAC / OAC goes, all I know is one of my favorite Stagg's was against an ODAC team.  A picture perfect day, great tailgating and an even better game.  D3 at its best.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

There is a school that dominates swimming every year as well, but I can't think of it off the top of my head right now.  But you are exactly right, there hasn't been a program at any level in football that has built itself to the level that Mount has consistently been at since LK took the reigns.
They should have practiced harder.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking about Kenyon over in Gambier, OH.  I think they've won the NCAA DIII title either 29 or 30 times for the men and the women have won quite a few times as well.  Impressive!

RMC08

I would just like to say that it seems that everyone is counting out RMC before they even get on the bus to Ohio.

I pose this question these two questions to all the readers of the board: last year (1) How many of you would have picked Appalachian State over top 5 Michigan in the Big House and (2) How many of you would have picked the Giants over the undefeated Pats in the Superbowl?  We play the game for a reason and I'm looking forward to the game tremendously.  All the guys playing (on both sides) are basically between 18-22 and they both put their pants on one leg at a time.

What everyone hasn't talked about is the amount of pressure that is on Mount Union.  They have all the pressure on them because they are the DIII powerhouse who has won 10 national championships.  They are the ones who have everything to lose in this game.

Jackets, just go out there, play your game and have fun.  This is a great opportunity to you and you should enjoy every last minute of it.  (Even practice this week)
