If the BSC (1-AA) championship game pitts JMU vs App. St I will be wanting to go somewhere to catch the festivities Friday night. I saw round one in person earlier this year and wouldn't want to miss round 2.  ;)

Llamaguy and the rest of the Stone Station gang,

Keep me in on the loop.  My son and I have bought our tickets and will be in Salem mid afternoon on Friday!  By the way,  my wife and I had chicken last night that had been marinated Stone Station style!!  ;)  It was almost as good as yours!!  :D  Looking forward to the game and have my fingers crossed that I can root for that other team in purple from Belton, TX!!!

roo....sure would be nice to get something other than purple in Salem. However, Cru purple is a nice shade.  ;D

I would encourage each and every RMC fan to attend the playoff game.  After following HSC to Wesley last year, even though the outcome was not what we were hoping for, the experience was well worth the time and effort.  As some other people have said " there are over 200 teams who would trade places with you".

RMC earned the trip so go enjoy it.  I am pulling for RMC to repesent the ODAC well.  GO JACKETS!

I'd go if I could and then watch the men plays hoops at Wooster.  I need a good road trip!!  Hopefully another time, but these opportunities are far and few between, and I hope that any R-M fan who can make it does.  Go JACKETS!

I would just like to say that it seems that everyone is counting out RMC before they even get on the bus to Ohio.

I pose this question these two questions to all the readers of the board: last year (1) How many of you would have picked Appalachian State over top 5 Michigan in the Big House and (2) How many of you would have picked the Giants over the undefeated Pats in the Superbowl?  We play the game for a reason and I'm looking forward to the game tremendously.  All the guys playing (on both sides) are basically between 18-22 and they both put their pants on one leg at a time.

What everyone hasn't talked about is the amount of pressure that is on Mount Union.  They have all the pressure on them because they are the DIII powerhouse who has won 10 national championships.  They are the ones who have everything to lose in this game.

Jackets, just go out there, play your game and have fun.  This is a great opportunity to you and you should enjoy every last minute of it.  (Even practice this week)

I appreciate your optimism and enthusiasm for your squad.  I think it's great, and I hope you have a good time in Alliance Saturday.

I will say this:  Mount has nothing to lose in this game.  If they lose, they'll be back next year.  There's no pressure on Mount Union until at least the semi finals.  I'll be in Alliance Saturday, and I look forward to hearing your impressions of the Mount Union machine once you see it in action.  I'll be at the Hood (it's a bar, just ask any of the locals) by the half because it's going to be freezing, and the game will be long over.

I know "on any given day any team can win" and all that other stuff that underdogs say, but I'll counter argue with this:

A team that loses four times to teams not named Mount Union is going to have a very tough time beating Mount Union.  Mount Union has lost four times since 2003.  A four loss season for the Purple Raiders would be an immense disappointment.

There's a story that I was told, I can't confirm whether or not it's true.  In 1989 John Carroll defeated Mount Union 31-7.  If I'm not mistaken it was JCU's first year in the OAC.  Larry Kerhes vowed that he would not lose to John Carroll again.  He hasn't.  Since 1990 Mount is 20-0-1, 19 consecutive victories (tie in 1991), two playoff wins.  They haven't lost to Otterbein in three decades, nearly the same for Marietta.  23 straight wins over Capital.  Two decades of futility for Muskingum.  Since joining the OAC, Wilmington has never defeated the Purple Raiders (0-11).

To say the RMC's odds are slim is the understatement of the century.  Having watched a lot of lopsided victories from the wrong side in recent years, including Mount's complete domination (the final score doesn't do it justice) of the second best team in the country in the semi finals in 2002...I know exactly what you're up against.

Go, cheer, root on RMC, and enjoy the game.  I'll see you at the bar when you decide to call it a game.

Man, things sure do get quiet over here.  I thought for sure that Toph's comments would've brought out some kind of response...
They should have practiced harder.

Pat Coleman

What response do you expect? I think ODAC fans and Randolph-Macon fans know what they're up against. Coming over here trolling for a fan to provide you some entertainment is not really necessary.

Not sure what more you want said.

RMC is ecstatic about being able to accomplish all that is has this season  (said before but: beating your greatest rival, winning our conference, getting playoff bid).  Being able to play another game against Mount or anybody is just icing on the cake.  4 losses or not, the team will play hard, fans will cheer hard (even if everyone does freeze).  Everyone knows the odds are way against RMC, but you can still root for your team no matter what the odds are and have a good time preparing for the game and attending.

I wish all who are making the trip from Ashland a safe and merry time.  GO JACKETS!!!

Never sell your kids short. Shockers do happen. Chip a little paint off your helmet in the first quarter and see how it goes the rest of the way. Just bring your long johns with ya. The visitors side is open and windy this time of year in Alliance. If you like football and dont need to rush home....the state highschool playoffs are in progress here and a couple of teams who could probably compete at the D3 level can be seen within a few miles. I like the playoffs because the visitors actually bring their fans to the stadium. Sometimes the visiting cheerleaders have nobody to cheer to in Alliance. The stands are almost empty in the visiting section. Come on up and enjoy the party. ;)

Hey look, to all the MUC fans posting on this site.  We all understand that the Raiders are a great team year in and year out and that they are "The Program" in D3.   So there is no need to continue to educate us about what little chance RMC has on this Sat.  We are all aware.
While the RMC players and coaches are excited about competing against the best they are very aware of the challenge in front of them.  This is the first and maybe the only opportunity these players will have to participate in the NCAA playoffs so let them enjoy the moment.  Maybe some day RMC will build a program where post season play and national championships are the norm and not the exception and their fans can post how great they are and how the opposing team doesn't have a chance.  Oh by the way, do any of you MUC fans have anything to do with the program being so good?   :D

Well, Alliance is a very small town. A surprising amount of graduates stay in the city. Most of us were/are friends with players, coaches or ex-players. A few are former players. The boasting you read is half in jest. This has been going on for years.
When you arrive you will find us to be a friendly lot. You will be welcome with open arms. The Mount fans really do enjoy meeting fans from other teams, especially outside the OAC. I think you will be impressed with the facilities and I know you will be impressed with the team.
The fans do act a little cocky, but it is with the knowledge that the team really is that good. The coach will have none of it and you can be sure this is clear to the team.
I have posted before, I have seen both teams play. There is no comparison. Everyone is aware of Appy State, anytime, anywhere.
But play the odds man.

Hey RMC fans that might be making the trip.  I have been collecting/trading hats or t-shirts with fans from other teams for the last couple of years and would love to trade with someone this weekend.

I went to grad school at VCU, worked for a summer at Kings Dominion and several years later lived just outside of Bridgewater for three years.  LLama, Olinemom, and the rest of the gang at Stone Station can vouch for the fact that I'm not trying to do anything but increase my collection--I have both a hat and a t-shirt from B-water, traded last year for stuff from UWW and Christopher Newport, etc.

If anyone is interested in a trade, let me know. ;D ;D

Any word on Zak Thornton's condition? I'd hate to find out he missed this.

At the very least, a large number of our posters are former players and parents and at least one ex-coach, so I guess the answer is yes.

And many of us were fans or players when Mount wasn't even average
