Jacketlawyer--

Are you going to be able to make it up for the game?  After our multiple posts about Guilford last year and the various other conversations on the ODAC board, I would enjoy the opportunity to meet you in person.

Theaprof, no I can't make it due to work obligations; otherwise I'd come up.  I'd enjoy meeting you as well, and if MUC makes it to the Stagg Bowl this year, I may drive up for that.  But I have actually wanted to see Alliance for some time now.

My grandfather was am R-M grad and a Methodist minister.  One of his dearest friends was a MUC graduate who he met at Emory divinity school.  While they were both alive, they maintained a close relationship, both professionally and personally.  So I've known about the Purple Raiders for a while, and I respect the school and their football team. 8)

But having said all those nice things, I hope R-M can pull the Appy State and STEAL ONE AWAY FROM YOU GUYS! GO MACON! ;D

For desertraider: A few posts from MUC fans.

Came back a little sooner than I thought I would.  I know that stats are just stats and "that's why they play the games on Saturdays," but just glancing through who RMC has played this year and looking at what they've done, I have a hard time seeing this one stay close.  Just a few stats to throw out there on which I base my argument.Points Per GameRMC- 27.9MUC- 46.8Points Allowed Per GameRMC- 24MUC- 6Total OffenseRMC- 348 yardsMUC- 541 yardsTotal DefenseRMC- 335.2 yardsMUC- 158 yardsBy no means am I saying don't support your team and don't be proud of winning your conference and making the playoffs, I am merely giving my opinion of this week's upcoming game.

I was holding back on my prediction because I didn't want the entire room to hate me until at least Thursday, but oh well.  Here it goes anyway.  I still don't think I'm going out on a limb here...

Mount- 66
RMC- 0

RMC might get a junk touchdown in the fourth, that's where half of the points against Mount have come this year, but I like the chances of a shut-out.

Edit: half the points against Mount

I'll be honest, I'm counting RMC out.  Not out of any disrespect to your team or program, but rather in awe of what LK has managed to build at Mount.  I know that "on any given day, any team can win."  After following Mount football for a long time, it seems that those days are few and far between.  RMC fans should be excited.  If you can't get excited about trying to knock off the top program in the nation in the playoffs, then there's no reason to be a fan.  Forgive me if I'm a little confident (cocky?), but you'll understand my confidence when you see this team in action.Last thing, I appreciate the vote of confidence in this year's squad, but Mount has only 9 national titles, not ten.

Jacketlawyer--

Sorry you won't be able to make it.  Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to make it o the Stagg, even if Mount makes it that far.  Due to a dancing accident my 20 yr. old daughter is having to have a hip replacement on 12/17 so this Daddy will probably need to stick around Alliance and help play nurse.

For all of the rest of the RMC fans--

I have made the trip from Richmond to Alliance probably 20 times in the last three years and 40 or 50 times in the past 15--I have some insights as to better directions than you will get from google or mapquest.  If you are interested, send me a message through the boards and I will try to help you out.  I can usually get from my house (about a block from campus) to the Fan in about 7-7.5 hours--last time my mileage was just over 400.  I know Ashland is north of Richmond, but my trek goes right past the "Eiffel" tower at KD.

Safe travels--looking forward to meeting some of you on Saturday!!

Just curious?  Do the MUC fans feel the need to bombard the chat rooms of everyteam they play and inform the other fans just how impressive their team, program and fans are?

Have a great trip to Alliance. I think the fans here will welcome you and wish your team an injury free game. You may run into the few who will imbibe too much prior to the game and get obnoxious but the majority of us will be gracious. Enjoy the trip and make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame if you get the chance. It's well worth the time and effort.

Glad to hear something's never change. I've been to Alliance. I thought it sucked!
As stated above, MUC punks will come over to your side and heckle, and not  be stopped by security or MUC staff.

95% of the MUC fanbase are first class, but they really need to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to drunk heckling fans. That's all I remember about the trip.

As I remember, I had a few sips with you and the rest of Stone Station that morning.  Some of us are nice guys and have even tried to keep connections! :D

Snake:  Would being on the short end of a 66-0 drubbing have slanted your views a little?  ;)

I had an opportunity to visit Alliance a few years ago and jumped at the chance.

A few observations/confirmations for those making the trip this year....

Canton is the best place to stay...a 30 minute ride from MUC, unless the bus driver gets lost!

The pregame buffett is the way to go...boatloads of good food being consumed by a lot of folks wearing purple.

The visitors side is quite windy, and you do get to share the stands with some MUC faithful.  Some were obnoxious; most were fine and supporting their team.

The Purple Raiders are the real deal.  It was a pleasure to see excellence even though...

........getting spanked 66-0 makes for a long ride home.

Safe travels to all....enjoy the experience.

Hey oilcan,,I was at that game too,,some of your fans even came onto the Gulling center( weight training facility) to try to steal some recruits that were visiting. I was "working" that day or I would have started tailgating much sooner  !!!  and yes it was a cold day,,and it will be this weekend ,,break out the coldgear  !!

To RMC fans,, new teams playing Mount usually  have their best chance to win in the first game between the schools. Once Coach LK has a chance to play you,,he seems to know you better the 2nd time ,, and so on

I bet if you ventured out of the ODAC Board that you would find that most posters like to engage in some Post Season Banter to pass the time before playoff games.  No harm intended.  Just trying to have some fun.  I would say that the posts so far this year have been fairly tame.  If I offended, no harm intended.

FYI RMC fans...Friday night's low will be around 19 and Saturday's high around 33. Maybe some snow...the weather changes every ten minutes in Ohio!  ;D

Have a safe trip and have some fun!!

Congratulations to Bridgewater for playing spoiler, and to Randolph-Macon defeating their rival and earning the playoff berth.

As a Bridgewater fan, I prefer seeing ODAC schools share the wealth in winning the conference while the Eagles (hopefully) rebuild. W&L in '06, H-SC in '07, and now R-MC, makes me appreciate our 2001 to 2005 run even more. Not only that, but the Generals and Tigers found how out hard it is to win outside the ODAC, USAC, and Centennial. I believe the last time an ODAC team (not called Bridgewater) won a playoff game was 1992 (E&H). Will the Jackets end the 15-year drought?

Regarding the 2003 BC-MUC game ... what's amazing is, we waltzed into Alliance with a 12-1 record, four wins over ranked opponents, averaging 35.4 points and a defense giving up only 12.3 points per game. Who would have thought 66-0? I think it will be hard to compare R-MC's first round outcome to BC's semifinal loss. I would suspect the Raiders had different motivations against us (proving '01 was closer than it should have been?) than they will for the Jackets.

One last thing -- I apologize to Division III fans for luring Stone Station to Division I. :)

I guess I fail to see what's so bad about all of those posts.  Not one is saying, "RMC sucks and shouldn't even bother coming" (in fact, in large part they explicitly state the opposite).  If anything, I would call them almost apologetically honest.  They all say the same thing:  RMC fans should enjoy this, be proud of what their team has accomplished, and come support them in Alliance...but all of the above posters expect this to be a blowout.  Is that wrong of them?

Pat or anyone in the know,

What is the chance of the Stagg Bowl start time being changed? Is 11AM dictated by ESPN?
