Good performance for Austin College to break through and get in the W column, 35-17 at Lyon. Lots of big plays, mostly from freshman RB Barrett Hudson, who had three touchdown runs of 71+ yards and finished with 240 yards on 11 totes. Lyon dominated time of possession, but AC was scoring so quickly that, obviously, they didn't really have any opportunity to grind out long possessions.

This Saturday's TLU - AC game will be interesting. I think the score was a little misleading in their previous matchup. AC was gaining traction as the game went on and was the better team during the fourth quarter. Curious whether that will carry forward to this week's game. I hope that was just TLU relaxing towards the end of the game and they come ready to play because I see a potential for an upset here.

Hell of a job by McMurry last night who held the #5 team in the country to 244 yards including a season-low 138 through the air in a 17-12 loss.  The War Hawks forced a fumble late and had driven to the Cowboy 30 with a chance to pull off the upset, but could not convert on a fourth and four with 24 seconds remaining.  Your men did great, Ralph.

It's a shame most of the country (including me) could not see the new standard for SCAC football thanks to the FloSports paywall.

Does anyone know how much schools receive from the FloSports paywall? I have to imagine it's pennies on the dollar, and IMO not worth restricting stream access for families and especially recruits unless they pay.

I discovered while watching last week that FloSports simply contracts with local production companies for individual events.  In other words, quality is very much hit or miss.  Last week, it appeared the production "company" covering the Trinity - Dallas soccer matches was just a couple of guys struggling to make the broadcast work.

I paid $29.99, suffered through the "production", complained and requested a refund, then received a refund for just under $7 since I had watched two broadcasts.  Not worth following up further.

This is a real bummer given the SCAC, SAA, and ASC are all FloSports conferences.

I don't think the ASC is a FloSports conference.  You can watch all of the streams live on the team's website.  At least for the majority of the sports such as Football, Soccer and Volleyball.

The SAA is also not a FloSports conference.  They are listed here.  Division III participants are, at this moment:

  • NEWMAC
  • Landmark (who started this whole mess)
  • SCAC (except Austin, Southwestern, TLU, Trinity)
  • SCIAC

SAA (Berry) and ASC (HSU, UMHB) teams are listed as participating in FloSports Soccer channel.  Must be different by sport.

Flo doesn't contract with local production companies. It's the responsibility of each school, so the quality will vary based on what each school has in terms of resources (manpower, tech, etc). Some schools might find outside entities to help with the streams, but the onus is on the schools.

HSU and UMHB are not connected to FloSports, they are listed but if you look at the games it is the times UMHB and HSU played SCAC teams on SCAC campuses.

That was not the case for the U Dallas - Trinity soccer games in Dallas last week.  They specifically mentioned the production company broadcasting via FloSports.

Interesting.  Seems a bit misleading.

TLU05SA

I purchased Flo Sports just to watch TLU's game at McMurry and then TLU's game at Centenary (In a couple of weeks). A real let down because it is the very same production that was previously available for free.  McMurry's production was three cameras likely located on the roof of press box and the local radio station provided the audio. No different from past years except you pay.

I am glad to see that McMurry played HSU tight. I have been saying that McMurry has not been given enough credit this year. Hopefully, this changes some people's opinions.

TLU had their best game of the season against Austin College. TLU went to Sherman and dominated every aspect of the game.

McMurry visits TLU this weekend. It is TLU's homecoming and I expect it to be a really good game with a great atmosphere. The only problem is that I cannot go as I have a business related trip to Atlanta this weekend  :(.

The people doing the broadcast might have namechecked Flo, but I know with 100% certainty, that Flo does not have anything to do with the actual broadcasts. UD hired out, and they namechecked Flo. The schools are 100% responsible for figuring out how to stream, and Flo has no part in the actual on-the-ground infrastructure. The schools figure out how to stream it, and send it to Flo. Even if it means hiring an outside source to do the heavy lifting, it's still the school doing the outsourcing. Flo has nothing to do with that aspect.

(This isn't my opinion; I know this as fact.)

Pat Coleman

That is exactly how Flo works, yes.
