Great breakdown TLU05SA.

It should be a great game/time.  Postseason games are a treasure and best of luck.

If there are any TLU lurkers that are going out to Oregon for the game, go mix it up with the Linfield fans out at the tailgate area.  The 'Cat fans will welcome you with open arms, warm food, and cold beer.

Rough start for TLU. Looks like they were in man coverage with no help over the top on first play of game; DB fell down making tackle, and Linfield WR had a clean 70+ yard after the catch for the TD. Ensuing possession, WR (maybe?) made catch but was immediately hit from behind and ball fell to the ground and recovered by Linfield. They rule it was a fumble. Sure didn't look like anything close to a football move to me, so I think Linfield benefitted from what should have been ruled an incomplete pass. Quickly 14-0 Linfield.

Welp, pretty clear which version of TLU made the trip out west.

MonroviaCat

and the best version of Linfield has shown up today--bad combination for you guys.....
Go Cats!

TLU05SA

Really tough game on Saturday and not the way you want the season to end. Overall, a great season for the Bulldogs but their showing on Saturday certainly leaves a bad aftertaste. Linfield was undoubtedly the better team and was ready for this game. TLU was not. Congrats to Linfield and good luck with UMHB next week.

I am glad to see TLU's football program trending in the right direction and I look forward to seeing what they have in store for 2025.

Playoffs are a bear when nobody on the team, including the coaching staff, has experienced them, and Linfield is about as hard of a place to make your debut when nobody has experienced the intensity or the travel factor - and that is one long trip.  Pat said on this morning's podcast that 21 of 24 games so far were won by the home team - UMHB with two road wins is the obvious exception so far.  Congratulations on a season that exceeded most everyone's expectations - at least everyone outside of Seguin, because there were lessons learned even in defeat that will pay dividends next season and beyond.

I remember Trinity's first ever playoff game - 1994, somehow at home against a much bigger and stronger W&J.  They lost 28-0 in a game where it was obvious we weren't on their level.  But it started the team on the path to a much better future.

Excellent points made by Ron.
Linfield is one of the Purple Powers and frequently travel 2 and 3 time zones.

Talked to a TLU fan at the game who said the Bulldogs practice in Texas Friday AM and then flew out to Oregon.  I was shocked that they came out on Friday and not Thursday evening.  I don't know if that's an NCAA call. I was also shocked that TLU didn't secure a practice once they made it out to Oregon. Even a walk through to move the team's bodies after a long flight, etc.

Like Ralph said, taking flights when you're not accustom to do is hard.  It's even harder when you're playing quality teams along with that. Hopefully TLU learned some things that will help them in the future.

TLU05SA

Sure, the travel didn't help but that was not the problem for TLU on Saturday. Linfield was better. As a few of you have said, hopefully TLU learns from this experience and this season is a steppingstone to a better football program.

Practicing early on Friday then jumping on a flight (or bus) for a Saturday game is a common thing...or at least it used to be common for small colleges.

Associate member Lyon is in the midst of a campaign to build a new stadium which they state will open in time for the 2025 season. They have raised $1.5M of the $2.5M required so far.  The new faciltity will eventually include "1,200 in seating for the homeside, 400 seating for the visitors side, press box, scoreboard, concessions, restrooms and more, but the initial phase will only include 600 seats on the home side.

They have been playing at a local high school stadium in Batesville.

Schreiner has announced a replacement HC, Keith Allen, to lead their football program.  According to a local media report, the original HC, Kenny Freschetta, stepped down for medical reasons (not confirmed by the school).

Allen has zero D3 experience, but spent eight years at The Kings Academy [FL], departing in 2021 to take an assistant position at Klein High School NE of Houston.  According to the release his career "includes impactful roles at institutions such as the University of Oklahoma, Northeast Louisiana University, Texas Christian University, Quincy University, San Jose State University, and Southwest Baptist University" and he is a graduate of Oklahoma and TCU.  His only head coaching role at the college level was a number of years at D2 Southwestern Baptist.  His final season there (2012, 3-8) was the last time he coached college football.
