Finally put on YouTube a clip we've been holding for a while. It's the "zapruder film" of the 2001 semifinals, where Bridgewater beat Rowan.

That's not.

Sorry...late to the party...

RE: Rowan Clip...

Were the Rowan coaches not coming absolutely unglued on the field at that point?

They were coming unglued from then until about Thursday of Stagg Bowl week.

Worst part is I wrote a column before I saw that footage, which pretty much changed my mind.

I'm surprised, JT, you consider it "accidental."

I do have a bunch of VHS tapes of 94-97 ODAC games and R-MC highlights. And also some tapes I've been given over the years as research tools, and some DVDs (UHMB!)... mostly Mount Union and Linfield, but I think the Wildcats video quota has been met.

Have all the Stagg Bowls '99-'04, but I'm missing the last two.

Point is, as soon as I figure out how to wire a VCR to a PC, I could really contribute to this thread. I wouldn't feel right profiting off those in any way, since most of them were given to me ... but I would share.

Any techies with advice on how to hook it up?

K-Mack,

In terms of editing gear this is what I have:

500G External Hard Drive (a must if you want to store the huge video files)
Canopus ADVC-110 converter (used to convert the anolog stream from a VCR/DVD into an digital format used to edit.  Great piece of equipment)
Adobe Premiere 2.0 (Hands down a top shelf editing/moving making tool)
Adobe After Effects 7.0 (Very new in the collection and trying to learn the basics)

If I had other Stagg Bowl tapes I'd be more than happy to make game review clips but I only have 2004 and 2006.

K-Mack

I have a Mac laptop and a PC. The PC has the most space (I prefer to burn photos/music/movies to disc and then free up the drive space, but I have been told about the external drive), but the video editing software came standard with the Mac.

Hmmm, what to do, what to do?

I might look into this some and see which ways I might be able to make this happen most affordably.

Then again, this could very easily be filed under "things I'll never have time to seriously pursue."

That's OK, as long as WC11 has started, I'm sure he's working his way to the '65 title game ...

I consider the stopping of the scoreboard clock accidental due to the poor mechanics of the operator. Clearly, he was only watching the play on the field. He needed to be aware of both the clock and the play on the field. Had he done his job properly, he'd have realized the clock was improperly stopped.

The on the field official with the backup game clock is the one who purposely let Rowan lose. He knew and walked off the field anyway.

I have previous experience with both jobs.  Someone in a position to correct the mistake didn't have the guts.

K-Mack

I'll take your word for it then.

Part of me still figures that picture should be in the dictionary under defintion No. 2 of "Home Cookin'"

If Mac was a homer, then the official time piece was on a NCAC official's wrist down on the field.  Checks and balances totally failed on that rainy day.  I wouldn't think a NCAC official mailed it in.  I still wish I had their names, but this is where it gets all Warren Commission.

All of the games for Bridgewater in 2001 have the football officials listed on the stats page, except the clock game.  I can't find anyone that kept a program from that game.  Rowan fans probably tossed it in disgust and Bridgewater fans probably won't give me the satisfaction.

It is also possible that the ref assignments were made late and never printed, but I don't know.  I'd be surprised if any of these men still do college football.  I've seen great college officials (not me) get their schedule temporarily downgraded for making the right call (proven).

K-Mack

Well, I don't begrudge officials in general, I just thought after seeing the end zone angle that it all happened to perfectly to be an accident. And you're right, checks and balances failed.

And also, this is way over and I shouldn't have even brought it up.

Its OK.  After the major anger subsided, I tried to figure out what happened.  But if I ever get the names, I'll make em #1 in google.  I've been busy in the offseason and my Mac page has slipped, but I'll get it back on page one of google again.

I found "Central College Football Highlights" on Itunes. It contains a seven-minute video and radio highlights from each game. Looks like you can access it from their site also.
