i think you could say the same about ithaca after their current junior class is done and coromato is a junior by the way

programs like cortland and ithaca losing players really means nothing.....each of them are national powers and theyve shown they can reload each and every year

Two very good teams on the field... but Cycle hit the nail on the head when he commented about Ithaca that he doesn't "know if he has ever seen such a loaded team on paper such as Ithaca's roster for this year."  There are other good teams around too... that can play the game.   And I will predict that someone we have not spoken about on this board will be a surprise too.

Everyone puts there pants on one leg at a time... and you have to play the games on the field.  As I used to say to the teams I coached before each game, "Respect all... and fear none!!!"

Once the balls start to fly, anything can happen...

Bob......

I know we are talking about college baseball, but my sons high school team last year was ranked first for about half of the season.  They were picked to win state by the Chicago newspapers and by a few more pundits.  They have played as a unit for most of their high school careers.  In the Elite 8 of state, they lost 2-1 with both teams having five hits apiece.  No errors either way.  The other teams hits were more timely!!!!  That's baseball!!!!!!!!!!  Either way, the Cortland and Ithaca teams must be great to watch.

I love the fact that even though my sons school is not ranked to highly this year in the Liberty League, they will get to play against those two "power-houses."  I just hope that Cortland and Ithaca play their better players during those games.

Did Brockport play today?

Port's game today at Arcadia (PA) cancelled. They'll play at Vassar tomorrow, that game was just added today. Gotta love upstate NY D3baseball.

Bob Maxwell

Brockport split on the weekend... tough 10-8 loss to Rutger's Camden and 9-0 over Vassar.  High of 35 with 10-15 mile an hour winds through out the day...  As John says, welcome to college baseball in the NE.

It was great being at the field, watching baseball!!!  EVEN if it was cold...

Timely hits and a BUD (Bad Umpire Decision... LOL) and the 10-8 would have been different.  That is why we play...   Just kidding about the BUD, its part of the game, and having a little fun with it!

Next week we all start and it will be warm out!!!

Beautiful weather out there today...whats the over/under on the amount of games teams will be able to play.

I say 22.  2 or 3 before the spring trip.  8+ during the spring trip.  2-3 more out of town after the spring trip.  Puts us right around 14-15 games.  Its gonna be tough getting in all these NY Region games before conference tournaments and Regionals.

Sure doesnt help with temperatures in single digits and continuous snow.  Good luck!

John McGraw

Basically, that's how its always been.

Teams are learning to schedule around it. Most teams that play games before their traditional spring trips are starting to play them in the mid-atlantic region of the country. The weather there isn't wonderful but its better than upstate New York. Ithaca, for example, doesn't play any games until their California trip over Spring Break. Same with a couple other teams.

In the past, teams have gotten the games in that they've had to before conference tournaments. It just ends up as lots of games in a little amount of time in late April and early May. Mostly, the late March, early April games are the ones that end up being moved around.

But, with all the warm weather New York has had over the winter, I'm optimistic it won't be as bad this year. But, tell that to Cortland, whose home opener is March 21 against Utica.

Who will compete with Cortland for the Sunyac title this year?? Does anyone have a shot to uncrown them?
In sports it's not how you start, its how you finish!

Bob Maxwell

As long as you take the field... you have a shot to win.

So yes...

Jim Dixon

I like Ithaca this year.  They have a strong team that will compete favorably with Cortland State.

I personally guarantee that Ithica WILL NOT win the SUNYAC title this year

Don,

THANKS FOR THE CHUCKLE....

I second that!!!

I'm sure that Jim is talking about winning the NY Regional.  My money is on Brockport for both!!!
