Plattsburgh and Brockport have very slim chances. I'm not exactly sure how Plattsburgh is but Brockport can host with:

Platt sweeps Cortland and gets swept by Oswego
Brockport sweeps Fredonia

This would make Brockport 8-4, Cortland 8-4, Fredonia 7-5 and whoever at the 4. Brockport hosts because they split with Cortland but swept Fredonia and Cortland split with Fredonia

That's a BIG if

Just heard from an Oneonta parent of what chances they have on making tournament

Oneonta must win 2 vs New Paltz and they can get in with help....

1. Fredonia must sweep Brockport
or
2. Plattsburgh must lose 3 out of 4 this weekend vs Cortland and Oswego.

Does anyone think Oneonta gets in?
I believe that Fredonia and Brockport split and Plattsburgh takes 2 from Oswego therefore eliminating Oneonta.

what looked like a promising season for Oneonta is now looking pretty embarassing

Bob Maxwell

6 teams all with shots at getting into the tournament.  only two spots locked up before the last weekend.

Great year...  The tournament looks to be wide open this year.  There has been a lot of talk about pitching depth - who has it and who doesn't.  It will come down to the match ups... and someone winning a game that is unexpected.

But before we get to that... we can enjoy the weekend.  Plattsgurgh has live stats for their games... is there anything for the games at Brockport or Oneonta?

I would only assume that Oneonta will have the live video feed as they did against Bport. Can anyone confirm this?

I think Plattsburgh can still host if:
1) Plattsburgh sweeps both Cortland and Oswego
2) Brockport sweeps Fredonia

This would put Plattsburgh, Cortland and Brockport all at 8-4. In the three-way head-to-head, Plattsburgh would be 3-1 (2-0 vs. Cortland, 1-1 vs. Brockport), Brockport would be 2-2 and Cortland 1-3.

Cortland bows 9-8 at Keystone, PA, allowing deciding score on two-out throwing error in ninth. Keystone with 19th win in a row

In-region game!

Dear Joe Brown,

In addition to offense, the game of baseball also includes defense.

cortland just cant seem to get their infield figured out.   i still think you need to play your best each game and stick with them....  all  players have a bad game ... boot one or airmail one..... but seems its in an out every game.... players need to feel comfortable to perform .... in one game out the next?  infielders in the outfield , outfielders in the infield......looks like panic mode......just my 2 cents

This is the point of the season, before the conference tournament, where the middle infield needs to be solidified. If not, it could very well be an issue in the playoffs.

Unfortunately it's a case of what's the lesser evil - lack of offense or lack of defense? The starter at shortstop today (no need to point out his name) is hitting .297 for the season and he's among the team's stolen base leaders. The other guys that may step in and play up the middle aren't hitting above .250. Though, 18 errors and an .824 fielding percentage really hurt.

It's not a great situation and it just goes to show how valuable that Vitalone and Russo were over the last few years that the Dragons didn't have to worry about defense up the middle.

Cortlands D is a serious problem. In the games vs Oneonta, no offense but the left side of that Cortland infield was pretty pathetic

1. Cortland
2. Fredonia
3. Brockport
4. Plattsburgh

Does everyone agree those are the SUNYAC conference standings?

Cortland still won both games though so the team has shown that it can win in spite of its poor defense.

many of cortlands errors from the left side were throwing errors.  unfortunately when a throw is in the dirt or wide and isn't picked by the first baseman the error is on the thrower. i believe that this is what happenned yesterday.in the loss to keystone. dont underestimate the need for a quality defensive first baseman on any team to reduce these errors....just my 2 cents

Has a team in this conference looked more night and day then Brockport? Kinda a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde approach over there in Western NY. When it  comes to a consitency of play whose responsibility is that? The Coaches or the Players? In my mind its gotta be on the Head Coach.

A close second on this might be Oneonta, this team looked like it might roll right through conference play, two of the better arms in the conference and a nice little supporting bullpen cast around them. Now it looks like they might be on the outside looking in.

Very strange baseball year, big weekend though and the comes tournament time...How quickly one could forget about a poor regular season with a dominating performance in the conference tournament.
