Scuba - totally agree. JB does a great job of managing a ton of talent. They'll be right where their supposed to be when all is said and done.

Looks like the SUNYAC and the LL are having some good starts to the season. Maybe those 2 leagues can protect the NY region. Ithaca is having a tough time scoring runs to start the season and is 0-3.

Cortland after holding off Wheaton 6-5 on Tuesday bows Wednesday 5-3 to Wm Paterson

I know people have been going on and on about Joe Brown and Cortland for days now. Heres the thing. Cortland is a winning program and will continue to win because they continue to get talent year in and year out. Guys want to play there because they want to win. Why do you think guys like Avry and Gentzki from Brockport transfered there... they wanted to win. Guys that try to go D1 out of high school and dont play end up going to Cortland because it is a D3 powerhouse where they will play and win. Why wouldnt you go to Cortland as a transfer if you can? Why wouldnt you go to a place where you know you are going to win? And if Joe Brown was that awful to play for then guys would not go play for him. He is tough, just like every other coach in the sunyac or any other conference is I'm sure. He just expects more because he wins all the time. That program expects to win and will continue to win because D1 and Juco transfers will continue to go there and occassionally a great high school kid will make it in. Brown will only take guys that will help him win. And that changes from year to year. At Cortland they dont rebuild, they reload. They always lose a few in the beginning of the year and then they rattle off 30 straight. The only team that might be them in the sunyac is New Paltz....... haha just kidding, sorry New Paltz fans but you will be at the bottom of the barrell as usual. Filak might get them but not likely. Cortland sunyac champs, just another year for them.

Totally agree and winning is very attractive to competitive players!!! We have gotten quality transfers every yr since I played like15-16 yrs ago!
Cortland will lose now and again in SUNYAC play but they are deep. They have guys platooning that could start at almost all of the other SUNYAC schools and top arms to run out to the bump with regularity! That's why Cortland is very tough to beat yr in and yr out in the double elim format that the SUNYAC and NY region both use for tournament play!
Got beat today and they are 2-2 in FLA but its more important to figure stuff out early and play well late!

FYI New Paltz did just beat #5 Salisbury.  If they can beat a Salisbury squad they certainly have a chance to beat Cortland.

Plattsburgh had their 9-game winning streak snapped today in an exhibition game against the Minnesota Twins Rookie squad losing 3-2.  Joe Nathan was in attendance.

Joe Nathan is a D3 success story!  Glad to hear he was there!

I Played against Joe Nathan in 1995 NY regional. He for Stonybrook, I for Cortland. He was a stud SS and threw bullets to 1B.
That was the same yr at the WS, we were watching Osh-Kosh in game 1 and couldn't believe there were so many scouts at the game. We sat behind 5-6 scouts and were looking at their radar guns and thought they were broken. 94, 95, 94, 93, 94, 94........... Unknown to us at the time, a lefty named Jarrod Washburn was throwing absolute aspirin tablets for Osh-Kosh!

Well, Joe Nathan and Coach Doorey played together at Stony Brook together.  IIRC, they were even roommates.  However, I don't know if they roomed in the dorms or "just" on road trips.  Either way, thats pretty cool.  I heard Nathan meet with the Plattsburgh players to sign some autographs and take pictures with the players.  Must have been a nice experience for the Plattsburgh players.

I also heard Paul Molitor coached third for the twins team.  Again, pretty cool.

As far as the game itself, i heard the Cards lost it in the last inning.  I don't think any pitchers threw more than 2 innings and they got more hits as a team than the Twins team.

I played with Scuba on that team.  When I saw Joe Nathan throw a baseball, I decided that I needed to find another line of work other than baseball.

transylvania shuts out cortland   5-0   best cortland team ever......not

StarvinMarvin

Not the almighty Transylvania U.?  Who threw, Count Chocula?  At least Brown has his team playing consistent ball.  Let's give the guy a pat on the back and take it easy on him, he's having a tough time!

C'mon Marv.  Transylvania's 10-3 with wins over Curry and William Paterson.  They don't sleep all day.
A walk is never as good as a hit!

Yea, Curry is a nobody and Willy P is below .500 so that does nothing for me.  A great record in DIII baseball can be very misleading!
