Magicman,

As a 1987 graduate of Plattsburgh, I am pleased to see them have success on the diamond.  Especially since they didn't HAVE a team when I was there from '83 - '87! LOL

So you know, they have a few more to win to match the '86 -'87 hockey team's 27 game win streak.  And if you play the University of Rochester at any point, I will most decidedly be rooting against you as my son will begin playing there beginning next year!

Good luck.....for now. haha

You mean to tell me you'd root for your son's team over your alma mater? ??? :o At any rate it looks like you won't be faced with that decision this year unless the Cards and the Yellowjackets meet in post season play. Regarding winning streaks, I have to believe it's harder to win 18 in a row in baseball than it is to win 27 in a row in hockey since pitching is so important. I'll be surprised if the Cardinal's winning streak survives this weekend but I'm sure hoping it does.

18 straight is something to be proud of...remember cortland did run of 38 in a row in 08 i believe....personally Im still not sold on any other team in this conference but Cortland. Although they are not playing good at all right now, in order to be the team you have to beat the team. I think this weekend will be a telling sign for the entire conference.  all in all i think the entire conference and region is weak, which stinks because it further validates the NCAA committes sending out of region teams in to our region. With a region this size, there is no reason we cant field all 8 teams in the regional field... just my opinion

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the New York Region is one of the smaller regions in the country so it's no surprise that it does not field 8 teams solely from New York.  New England is swamped with teams and should rightfully have additional teams sent to other regions.

Both New England and Mid-Atlantic regions are massive which is why usually there are teams sent in from those regions. Mostly from New York you'll have the AQ winners, Ithaca and then possibly an at-large if RPI loses in the Liberty League tournament and then of course the out-of-region teams. It hasn't deviated much from that aside from the one year that Ithaca and St. John Fisher both got in or Cortland and Brockport in 2004. And 04 I believe was the last time a second SUNY team made it in.

Well, that 18-game win streak of Plattsburgh's is no more.  Clarkson got the job done today and handed the Cards a 14-9 loss.  Most of the stats aren't up yet.  Plattsburgh needs to forget that loss and prepare for upcoming SUNYAC games.  I would much rather see them lose this one than the SUNYAC games.

Watched Plattsburgh today and I hope they just had an off day because if you were to ask which team was 18-1 or 5-11 you would not have guessed P-burgh as the 18-1 team.  Outhit 19-6.  No worries though, it all comes down to sunyac play.  Still Cortland's league to lose, Brockport is sneaking up the ladder again.

Glad to see someone was there to see how the game went down.  Looks like one of Plattsburgh's local freshmen took the loss on the mound (Andrew Price).  It will be very interesting to see how the Card's do in 4 games in one weekend.  Tracy and O'Leary can only do so much.  Rest assured, Coach Doorey will ride them as long as possible.

I'll be watching Cortland this weekend.  It's always better to get a first person account to see what they have.  If they come away with 3 or 4 wins they should be in good shape.  I don't think there is any doubt that they will be in the tourney come May, but it's always nice to see them challenged by other teams.  It makes things more interesting at the end of the year, plus it facilitates conversation here.

SUNYAC always comes down to one game and i bet it does again this year. it's going to be a tight division this year i can tell. Brockport, Plattsburgh ( who had an off day against Clarkson) Oneonta and even the top hitting Fredonia are all contenders against Cortland. Don't be surprised if Fredonia sneaks one by Cortland this weekend. New Paltz even has an ace this year that can get them some solid wins. Watch this close race til' the end, i guarantee ya. Brockport looks tough as usual, it'll be interesting this weekend to see how it starts out

Cortland scores 5 in the bottom of the 8th to break a 6-6 tie and defeats Brockport 11-6 in game 1 of a DH.
Cortland pounded out 16 hits and the 4-5-6-7 hitters for Cortland combined for 10 of them. Tom McCormick had 3 hits for Brockport!
In sports it's not how you start, its how you finish!

I heard Plattsbirgh lost game one and is loosing game two in the 5th. They knocked out OLeary in Game1. Sounds like the National Ranking system does not work all the time.

CobbSpikes2B

Fredonia and Oswego split the DH. 2-1 Fredonia took the first game and 2-0 Oswego took the 2nd game. Horrible hitting day for both teams.

I believe the first game between Cortland and Brockport has been protested.Let's get the results of the protest before a victory is earned. I assume it's about an illegal substitution in the bottem of the seventh inning. This was not a judgement call but a black and white rule book infraction. Not my opinion, just relaying the info.
