Plattsburgh's playing partner used to be SUNYIT. after they dropped out, anyone that plays Plattsburgh doesn't have another conference game that weekend.

Cortland should be playing D1 teams. I would love to see them play D2 Franklin Pierce or SUNY Albany. There in the wrong league but I will say I think there coach plays with class. I have never seen him bury a conferance team in a game and purposely run up the score.
Platsburgh is over rated and not as good as they think.

sergispie

plattsburg is not good. 2 and out as usual in this years tourney. lets move on to a topic that matters.

Truthfinder

Plattsburgh's coach is on the NCAA committee, so they're in the tournament even if they go 2 and out in SUNYACs. Which, by the way, would leave them 7-7 in conference, 13-8 in the NY region. Certainly worthy of an at-large.

Pffffft.

It's a shame the Lyndon game got snowed out. I can't imagine what those quotes would read like when the Cards got to 30 wins this weekend. I hear they may push the fences at Chip Campbell back to like 460, 505 and 490 to make room for all the banners they'll hang to commemorate this season.

No way plattsburgh gets an at large they wont finish in top 5 in the region

Plattsburgh certainly doesn't have a strong case for an at-large bid.

Truthfinder, please explain to me how Plattsburgh's coach being on the NCAA committee has anything to do with them making the SUNYAC tournament.  I wasn't aware that the SUNYAC tournament was a popularity contest based on who is on which committee.  As far as I know, the players won the games that put them there.  It sounds like you're grasping at whatever you see in order to take shots at Plattsburgh.

The odds are stacked in Cortland's favor.  They are a very good hitting team, and their pitching isn't too shabby.  They would definitely give some DI teams in the area a good run.  All the other teams are going to have to bring their sticks with them.  In order to beat Cortland, they will have to match them blow-for-blow.  Filak can shut Cortland down, but he can only throw for so long, and he might not even be matched against Cortland.

I think he means the NCAA tournament. Either way, this discussion has been completely ridiculous. I think it's time to stick a fork in it ala Ducky Drake.

DefenseWins

i agree with john............this board isnt for taking shots at teams like truthfinder has done...........its for modest discussion. Almost Tourny time, love this time of the year, hope the weather warms up.

Is "in-region run differential" some sort of tie breaker this year??  Dragons take a safety right before halftime?  That is rough.  I know that Cortland doesn't typically run it up on people that bad.  At some point, you gotta get somebody out and get your tails back in the dugout if you're the Continentals.

You can't possibly be serious. Considering the SUNYACs don't award at-large berths ... sigh.

Their coach on the NCAA committee makes them damn close to a lock for the NCAA tournament.

And I've taken no shots. There's been nothing personal here. Merely pointing facts out to the flock who seem to think the Cards will not only win the NY Region but quite possibly contend for the AL wild-card.

DefenseWins

I dont know who said plattsburgh will contend for an at large. They should consider themselves lucky to crack the top 6. And they should be no higher than 5th or 6th.
1 cortland
2 UR
3 skidmore- loss to middlebury i think took them out of the 2 spot yesterday, thats a BAD loss for a ballclub that just took 3-4 from UR
4 st john fisher
5 Oneonta state
6 plattsburgh

Unless oneonta state gets to the championship and knocks of cortland at some point I think the at large bid comes out of the LL. Theyre just stronger than the SUNYAC this year top to bottom

AlleyCat

I think the only way SUNYAC's get 2 teams in is if Cortland doesn't take the league tourney. Both Plattsburgh and Oneonta do not test themselves out of the league. Even their Florda schedules were extremely weak.

They both have great records, but that shouldn't be enough for a Pool C berth.

Just my thoughts....

Plattsburgh is a decent team at best.  I will give them credit, they are winning games, but honestly I don't have a clue how.  They boasted their 18th in the country ranking and then got walloped by New Paltz 14-11 in their first conference game.  New Paltz 'supposedly' is not good at all.  They're better than previous years, no doubt, but to give up 14 runs to them is a little ridiculous, especially if you're ranked 18th in the COUNTRY!.  Granted Plattsburgh can swing the bat as well as anyone, but you can't always out-hit your middle school 'esque' pitching.  Good luck playing against good teams in the play-offs, because you'll need it.

If New Paltz sweeps fredonia this weekend, Sunday's game between NP and Brockport becomes 'win and in'.  Other than that, let's get ready for the playoffs
