Good game by Oneanta!

And...How the hell does Cortland and Plattsburgh lose in the first round EVERY year!!!  Now plattsburgh plays cortland and Cortland shows its depth biggest advantage over the rest of the SUNYAC.  Its depth.

But heres hoping for an early exit for Cortland!

Cortland does not lose in the first round every year. In fact, they havent lost in the first round in a long time. Since 1998, the only team to beat them at all in the SUNYAC tournament was Brockport (Until Oneonta beat them today).

No way.  I will look it up but there is no way.  When I was there it seemed like they were always losing the first gamne.

"Cortland (30-8-1), ranked 10th in Div. III, will face Plattsburgh in an elimination game Saturday at 10 a.m. Cortland lost its SUNYAC tournament opener for the first time since falling to Brockport in both 2005 and 2006. In both of those years, the Red Dragons fought back to win four straight games and capture the league title. "

Yes, Cortland Internet Radio is planning on broadcasting ALL games (not just Cortland's) from the SUNYAC Baseball Tournament (in addition to all the SUNYAC softball, men's lax and women's lax tournament action at Cortland this week). We will also try to provide live stats for some of the games, if not all - depends on staffing issues.

Hopefully by Wednesday I will have a SUNYAC Baseball tournament web page set up that will include links to audio and live stats coverage, plus scores and box scores during the tournament.

Fran,
Listened to the baseball broadcast today while watching the live stats on the women's softball games, all while I was "working" in my office.  Great job putting that all together to allow those of us who are unable to make the trip to Cortland, to get the feeling that we are. Thank you, and plus k.

My mistake. Twice. Still not "almost every year"

I think the point is that you said it hasn't happened in a long time and it certainly has happened less than a long time ago.  Cstate said it "SEEMED" like every year... Presumably because he was there the two years they lost.  In the end, I think your statement was a little more absolute than his.

In reality, neither statement is true.  Cortland does not lose every year, and it hasn't been a long time since Cortland lost in the first game.

So why am I posting here?  I'm not sure, just bored.  Carry on  :P

Oh, where are all my karma-knocking, mouth-breathing, detractors?

Poor Plattsburgh. Now you get an angry Cortland team tomorrow morning.

Too bad the Little Ladies of the Poor U and the University of the Blind and South Carolina Retired Women A&T and whoever else made up your spring schedule aren't in the consolation round of the SUNYACs.

As Tye Webb said in Caddyshack, we've got a pool (c) and a pond. Pond'll be good for you!

theguru25

Today's predictions:

Cortland 15, Plattsburgh 2
Brockport 8, Oneonta 4
Cortland 12, Oneonta 4

theguru25

Cortland 2, Plattsburgh 0 after 1 inning.

June doubled and scored on a K. Dimino single. Dimino stole second. Moved to third on a Gardner ground out. Scored on a Nickel fielders choice.

Assmann on the hill for Cortland and Tyler Greene for Plattsburgh

John McGraw

7-0 Cortland after three.

The Dragons scored a touchdown and just converted the PAT. Barring a miracle comeback, we're down to Brockport, Oneonta and Cortland.

well at least plattsburg showed that they were the number 2 team in the region in this years tournament. great showing as usual out of the cardinals. no pitching depth and not enough offense to keep up with the rest of the teams in the tournament. right now its like cortland is taking bp before their next game. hopefully the committee looks at this weekend and decides the cardinals would not be a good representative for the new york region. great job doorey. you got 30 wins 25 of which were scrimmages.

EXCELLENT POST!!!!! Sunayac Alum (ERRRRRRRR Truthfinder).

What the hell is with the angst towards Pburgh?  They've only had a team for a few years.  Usually you have to have more success than this to get people to hate you so much.  Truthfinder (ERRRRRRR Sunyac Alum) would like to have us beleive that he's "just exposing the truth", but you've got to have an ax to grind to be that pissed off at a team that hasn't really won anything.  And aside from you, I don't see too many people up here talking about them all the time.  If there were numerous posters here telling everyone how great PS was (see UR--LL board), I could see the angst, but seriously, what gives?

My prognostication on Truthfinders next post...................

THE PLATTSBURGH COACH WAS THE 2ND GUNMAN ON THE GRASSY KNOLL!!!!!

I told ya so.
0-2 in the SUNYAC tournament. Again. My god, restaurant kitchens doesn't get swept as much as the Cards do.
7-7 against conference competition this year.
Starting pitchers with an ERA of about 30 -- yes, 30 -- in this year's postseason.
Maybe someday they'll figure it out, playing the weakest nonconference teams you can find doesn't fool anyone.
I feel bad for their players, because they clearly have some talent, and those kids deserve better.
And that being said, if he gives himself a Pool C, heads will roll.
