I don't think it really registered with anyone since the selections quietly went up IMO with little fanfare.

i find it odd that Parrino from Brockport didnt make either squad. he hit .375 with stellar defense at 1b. Smith made it with an ERA of almost 6 in the conference

looking at the all american team... steve nickel?? jason simone?? looking at the numbers... nickel had better numbers then almost all the 3rd basemen listed... simone had numbers just as good as the other outfielders. I would like to see how these teams got chosen. Gardner and June also could have easily been chosen as well... I know it is not always about the numbers... but those 4 players were the heart of the Cortland offense. Hopefully these 4 keep up the great work and put up big numbers at the world series, lets go c-state - run the table.
Omar Minaya is a GREAT general manager. . .

I am a big Cortland fan and I also can't understand howthose four gouys are somewhat ignored, especially outside the region

Nevermind my last comment.

Cortland's Travis Ratliff loads the bases in the 1st inning hitting the leadoff hitter with a pitch, followed by 2 walks. He then strikes out the cleanup hitter, gets the next batter on a flyball to center, which plates a run and get outs of further trouble with a popup to the 3rd baseman. Stevens Point takes the early 1-0 lead. Could have been much worse as the Pointers were lookiing at a big inning.

magicman

Cortland comes back in the bottom of the 1st to score a run after Matt June leads off with the game's first hit, is advanced to 2nd on a groundout and scores on a base hit by Anderson Gardner.

magicman

Ratliff having a problem with his pitching hand. Gets the 1st 2 batters on a flyout and strikeout, then gives up a single and double to put men on 2nd and 3rd. Proceeds to walk the next 2 batters to force in a run and then gives up a bases clearing double to the cleanup hitter. Point scores 4 in the top of the 2nd to go up 5-1.

magicman

Ratliff comes out of the game and is replaced by Adam Brown on the mound for the top of the 3rd. Stevens Point gets a single, a walk and 2 more singles in the inning to score 2 more runs and open up a 7-1 lead. Not looking good for the Red Dragons. Point has already turned 2 double plays, 1 in the first and 1 here in the bottom of the 3rd after the leadoff batter singled. At the end of the 3rd still 7-1.

magicman

Cortland narrows the gap, scoring twice in the bottom of the 4th to make it 7-3.

magicman

Pointers put men at the corners on an error, stolen base, and another error with 2 down, but Brown induces a ground out to 2nd to hold them scoreless in the top of the 5th. Still 7-3 with Dragons coming to bat in the bottom of the inning. Pointers have left 9 men on base already.

magicman

Cortland loads the bases on an error, a walk and a base hit with 1 out. A ground out to 1st scores a run leaving runners at 2nd and 3rd but another ground out, this one to 2nd, allows the Pointers to escape without any more damage. Now 7-4 going into the 6th. Red Dragons chipping away but fail to get the big inning that they need.

I would hope that you're a big Cortland fan since you play for the team or are the father of someone on the team :-)

An error allows the leadoff man on base and 2 singles after 2 outs plate another run for the Pointers. Cortland goes down in order in the bottom half. Going to the top of the 7th with Point up 8-4.

Mike Mahay who came on to pitch in the top of the 6th with 2 out, stays in the game and throws a scoreless 7th for Cortland. Finally got the story on why Travis Ratliff left the game after 2 innings and what probably caused him some problems when Stevens Point put 4 runs on the board in the 2nd. Apparently he had a callous on his pitching hand that broke open. The trainer came out and looked at him during the 2nd inning right after he had walked a couple of batters and just prior to him giving up a bases loaded double. I guess they tried to bandage it but ultimately it ended his day.

Cortland goes down in order in the bottom of the 7th. Stevens Point is held scoreless in the top of the 8th. Cortland coming to bat desperately needing to rally.
