Remember, telling recruits you are a preseason top 25 team is not a bad conversation starter.  Thats all I am saying about the mighty Cards.  I can't understand why Brockport is not being mentioned.  They may not have the best players, but, every year they are playing for it, and have had their share of regionals experience the past 5-6 years.  Its about time Oneonta plays a bit tougher Florida schedule.  Recent years they usually go 9-1, 10-0 against some god awful teams.  Who the heck is Baker College anyway?

Tarheel55

Last I checked Filak didnt bat against Cortland, and Cortlands pitching didnt get much better in the off season.Oneonta has played some patsies in the past in Fla. but from what I can tell they have at least 4 games with teams that made Regionals last year down in Fla.I dont see P-burg being in the top 25 but I would rather see them their than some team from the N-West that plays a weak schedule against inferior competition. The best D-III ball is played in the New York and New England regions.Yes you have great teams in the other regions ,but, top to bottom I'll take this area against the field.

NO way P-Burgh is top 25 but those polls don't mean crap anyway!!!!  Love the fact that SUNYAC is going to 3 game sets!!  Nobody can duck anyone!!!  Give the edge to the Red Dragons but they lost a lot.  Got some transfers in (What else is new) that should help out and fill some holes.  Can't wait to get it going.  Go Cortland!!!!!

Tarheel55

3 game sets are great but you have the wrong RedDragons winning GO Oneonta!!Have Nice pitching transfer in and a really good catcher transfer that I saw play in Jersey this summer.

SUNYAC is going to be one tough division this year. With the addition of another AQ in the New England region Im sure they will have a team or two looking to get a bid in the new york region. The new AQ will come from the NECC and it would be a shame to have one of the good teams from New York slighted because an ok team from a bad conference wants to play with the big boys.

Cortland opening Friday ....yup .....this Friday in Winchester, Va. vs. Shenandoah. Dragons play twice Saturday, vs. Chris Newport and Bridgewater, then on Sunday vs. Salisbury ......

airball55

That NECC is a very weak conference.  Basically, a bunch of sub par schools got together and formed their own league to basically guarantee an at-large bid.  Very similar to the league over here with Keuka, Cazenovia, etc...  too bad a team like an Oneonta, or someone like that would possibly not get in over a team like Becker or Cazenovia!!

Tarheel0550

airball55, you are right about that,The NECC formed when some of the schools were basically kicked out of their old leagues. There are quite a few good players in the league they are just spread out on the different teams.A team like Southern Vermont is closer to most of the New York schools than they are the New England schools, but no-one wanted them in their league.I think they were in the GNAC at one time and then went Independant before joining the NECC.
