I see a split tomorrow when Plattsburgh hosts Oneonta.  Oneonta seems to take too many games for granted and Plattsburgh seems to know when they have to win one.  Cortland SHOULD sweep both Oswego and lowly Fredonia but I see them dropping one of those...probably to Oswego.  New Paltz should take two from Oswego and Brockport could drop 2 to Plattsburgh.  That being said, Plattsburgh, IMO, has two positions they need to figure out.  First base and DH, where power has been lacking all year, needs to see someone step up and take that spot. Otherwise that trip to Brockport could turn ugly.

P-State your right on O-State taking teams for granted also Coach leaves pitchers in too long.O-State has a solid bullpen and should use it more.I agree with the O-State P-Burg split but Cortland wont lose to Oswego, unless its at Oswego and that dang wind wont stop blowing off lake.I think Oswego will take atleast one from N-Paltz and same for B-Port and P-Burg.If Oneonta can get into P-Burgs bullpen it could hurt them this weekend.

Tarheel I'm assuming you played at or from Oneonta or some relation...but how does Ferchen keep his job after the DWI?  Does making the NCAAs cover that up?

Tarheel0550

P-State I think he is on a VERY short leash and could be playing for his job this year. Its one of those everybody makes mistakes but, he has used up all his favors at O-State.Its really too bad because he is a very good coach and person. As for O-States pitching AJ Bates missed last start with tightness in elbow, diagnosed with mild tendonitis but the only cure is rest so no-one knows if he will pitch this year or not.if not he is done, has one more year of eligibility left but will graduate this year and prob. wont pay for another year of school just to play.

On another note an Umpire this past weekend: I am an Oneonta fan so I'm note biased.
Two good games Saturday played by both teams and classy kids. Some outstanding defense on both sides.
Issue: Home plate ump game one, field ump game two, same ump.
This guy was a character. I heard he was making annoying comments to a few players and was inconstant for both teams. He is an embarrassment to college baseball.
If you think I'm kidding, go watch this guy.
Sorry about the negative comment but I expect more out of the paid help.

The other ump was fine and professional.

budhar-Glad you brought that up I felt the same way and the home plate ump on Sunday was very inconsistant,I have always felt if you are going to cash the check you owe it to the players to call a good game. The Sunday plate ump changed the strike zone not just batter to batter but from pitch to pitch.I dont think this cost O State the game but it didnt help.

Oneonta has now buried themselves for an at-large bid to regionals with a terrible loss to Union yesterday.I think coach Ferchen and the players took Union for granted and it bit them in the butt.O-State did not start most of thier regulars and didnt get much production from the ones that did start. When starters were put in only catcher E Wells (AthensPa.) seemed to want the game, as he led off 2 innings by getting on base and was only brought around once to score.O-State now has to look at running the table the rest of season, and or win the SUNYAC Tourney, and with Cortland sure to get an at large bid wether  they win the SUNYAC Tourney or not, O-State is in trouble.

Union is much improved, they beat Allegheny in Florida, have battled with very good LL teams in Clarkson and and could have split up north. They have solid coaches and their players are responding.

Oneonta takes DH from P-Burg today at P-Burg.Heard C-State dropped one to Oswego also today.B Marotta had a day at the plate for O-State going 7 for 8 on the day.Again the umpiring was more than bad it was horrible for both sides.Strike zone was a refrigerator box,and GOD forbid they pay attention to the back pick.Truly dissapointed with the SUNYAC umpires. And if any are reading this, c'mon guys take a little pride in your job.
