You are right, hats off to Brockport. Impressive weekend with a lot of heart.
Congrats to New Paltz. Your pitching and defense will help you.
Onenonta, let's take this.

Congrats to the New Paltz Hawks.  Chismar, Pinnola and Grann (all sophmores) give them solid front line pitching.  Defense has been solid all year.  Typically, Cortland and Brockport elevate their game at tournament time.  Will New Paltz be able to match their intensity and focus?

onesix3

No I don't think they will. But that's why you play the game! There are no unbeatable teams in this tourney.Every team has decent pitching,it should be an interesting weekend!Bring on the sunshine!!!

I think that Oneonta will fall to Cortland in the championship game.  I don't see Brockport being the same team as in years past in the tournament, and Oneonta seems a little better at this point.  I'd like to see New Paltz do well, and as has been pointed out, their young pitching can probably take a game from someone.

The rise of statistics and sabermetrics has cast a dark shadow that will soon plague the game we love. But a burgeoning light is on its way.  Bury not your face in the numerical analysis, yet instead seek shelter in the refuge provided by the inaugural selections of the SUNYAC All-Name Committee.

Sounds like New Paltz picked up the Plattsburgh two-and-barbecue curse. Surprised the Cards didn't make it back to the SUNYACs this year. What happened to the Truth guy?

onesix3

I'd say you better get used to seeing NP at the party. They could be dangerous in years to come!Gotta like what their coach has done!Truth didn't need to show up, P-burgh was only a 500 team.Sure do miss that bell..............NOT!

jdex

Truth be told .........Pburgh wasn't all that good!!! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Also, just took note of Wednesday USA Today lead story taking note of college offensive slowdowns: Trampoline-effect bats gone; homers, too. Surveyed D-1 figures taking a dip with new composition bats coming into play. Of course, quite noticeable at Cortland. As the story pointed out, pitchers no longer fearful of throwing the ball over the plate and having it hit outta sight. Now more then not it finds an outfielder's glove. One thing certainly evident from CSt pitchers this season, paucity of walks. And they certainly were benefactors of good defense.

cope_str8

Hats off to New Paltz, and yes get used to seeing them in the tourney! Only graduating 2 seniors, both of which were not big part of team. D1 transfer, ray courtney making a comeback next year after two arm surgerys, pre surgery was 91-93mph.  If he's healthy and ready to go, him and chismar 1-2 punch will be tough to beat. Number 3 will be just as capable in grann, pinnola, or schmidt.  Good luck to o-state, brockport, nd c-state. Someone give cortland a run for their money!
