Plattsburgh shut out 2-0 by Framingham in Florida. Cardinals (2-7) with Florida games Friday and Saturday vs. Fredonia in SUNYAC action. Two games are booked Friday, a single game Saturday

Fredonia opens its season and falls 9-8 and 5-4 in Flordia to 3-5 UMass-Dartmouth. Second game goes an extra frame


Cortland and New Paltz open the conference season Saturday afternoon at Cornell's Hoy Field in Ithaca at 3 o'clock. The pair meet in a Sunday twinbill at the same site starting at 11 a.m. The schedule site was made because of an unplayable NP field.

Oswego holds 7-5 lead in the seventh inning of the nightcap that was suspended by rain till Saturday morn. Oswego is 8-3, Bport 9-4

Brockport wins 8-7 over Oswego in Saturday's completion of Friday's rain-suspended action in Lakeland, FL. Eagles overcome 7-3 deficit with five runs in the final seventh inning.

Oswego scores four in the fifth and goes on to defeat Brockport 9-3 in Saturday's scheduled game

Cortland and New Paltz underway in 34 degree wind-swept conditions at Cornell's Hoy Field

Plattsburgh and Fredonia due to windup Florida play in conference outing at 5:30 this evening. Start delayed by weather -- a bit of rain in 80 degree weather. No doubt Corts/NP jealous!

Cortland stops New Paltz 8-1 in SUNYAC starter. Tied 1-1 through the fifth, RDragons build 4-1 lead in the sixth when M. Rosing and C. Jackson deliver rbi hits. Then in the seventh PJ Rinaldi tags a grand slam to left on the heels of two singles and a walk. Corts outhit 9-7. Seven Dragons with a hit apiece, Z. Graczyk a two-out run-starting double in the third. B. McClain wins it with eight innings of seven-hit work. Walks one, hits one and strikes out five. R. McAlary finishes and strands two. New Paltz' M. Carr 2x3 with a walk and fine centerfield play. K. Gentile drives in Hawks' run. A. Grann goes seven innings in defeat, walks three, fans four. All eight runs earned. Cortland 11-4 overall. Game played in snappy 2:15. Corts/NP play two Sunday at Cornell starting at 11

Fredonia defeats Plattsburgh in the rubber match of their series 3-0.  Cardinals can't seem to score runs this year. Can't get those 2 out hits to bring in the base runners. Today they didn't have many baserunners.

Fredonia 3 runs 8 hits. Plattsburgh 0 runs 6 hits. Decent outing by both pitchers.  Zach Hugg complete game shutout for Fredonia.

Corey Grossman went 7 innings for The Cards giving up 2 runs and 6 hits. Only 1 earned run.

Throws five innings of four-hit performance with no walks and three strikeouts. T. Scott completes the seven inning affair. Corts' M. DeCarr and B. Mistretta drive in second inning runs. C. Jackson makes it 4-0 in the the third with an inside-the-park two-run homer to center. Ex-Oneonta regular M. DeCarr 2x3, 2r, bi. Second game to come.

Allows five hits, an earned run, no walks and notches three Ks. B. Serio comes on for 2.2 innings and C. Petre finishes with a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts. NP scores in the first but CSt fills the sacks in the second and B. Marotta singles home the tying run and B. Mistretta knocks in the go-ahead mark with a short sac fly. Corts twice in the game work double thefts of second and home. M. Carr 2x3 for the Hawks, scores twice. M. Prescia 2x4. C. Pyz takes the mound loss. Solid relief from the fourth from J. Schmidt and B. Solomon.

Fredonia on Tuesday takes a pair of seven inning games in Florida vs. Houghton, 5-4 on J. Nowak's walkoff pinch-hit rbi single and 10-4 behind an 18 hit assault. Devils come from behind in both tests, digging out from 4-1 hole in the opener and trailing 3-0 before seven-run fifth inning in the second game. Freds today in Auburndale duel Thomas (ME) in twinbill and Thursday play 5-1 Colby (ME). Weekend YAC action at Oneonta follows. Devils 5-3, Houghton 3-8
