Cortland wins a wild 10-8 verdict over Christopher Newport in Newport News on Sunday. RDragons' fifth win in six starts. Latest issue settled in ninth. Corts, who blew a 7-3 lead a half inning earlier, knotted it at 8-8 on T. Panetta's two-out rbi single to left followed by M. Hollender's game-deciding two-run single to center. Twas Dragons' 13th hit. S. Komanecky pitches a 1-2-3 ninth to close it out.

Longball figured in earlier scoring. Cortland sees 1-0 first inning lead (C. Ziemendorf leadoff HR) vanish when CNU's J. Houston homers with a man aboard. Dragon C. Jackson's pinch-hit three-run sixth inning homer to right provides 4-2 lead. Hosts within 4-3 in their sixth. Cortland appears to put the game away with three-run eighth featuring Panetta's rbi single and V. Bomasuto's two-run triple. Bomasuto then moves from left field to the mound when Dragon reliever Polumbo puts the first three CNU batters aboard in the bottom of the eighth. Houston greets Bomasuto with rbi single. Sac fly makes it 7-5 before CNU leadoff batter T. Vitaletti belts three-run HR to left-center. Cortland rallies for 'W'. Despite pitching woe, Bomasuto gets credit for victory

Cortland sees Webster U. of St. Louis score twice in the seventh and three times in the eighth to break 5-5 tie and earn 10-5 decision in both teams' opening Auburndale, FL contest. Winners bang out 14 hits, the vanquished 12. RDragons 5-2, Webster 2-0. Both nationally ranked heading into the sunny, 70 degree outing

Webster Gorloks avenge 10-3 loss here to Corts in '13, one of few setbacks by Missouians enroute to World Series. Today's starting pitcher I. Behme took brunt of Cortland early attack last year but got bit of revenge himself. Still, Dragons had things going their way when C. Ziemendorf and M. Rosing doubles produced 4-2 lead in the fifth. But they unraveled in Webster's sixth. Single off CSt starter B. McClain cut deficit to 4-3 and a reliever's three wild pitches scored two runs. Corts pulled even on run-scoring passed ball in the seventh. Gorloks in their seventh began decisive surge with two outs.

Cortlands use seven pitchers. S Komenecky takes loss. A. Smith, Ziemendorf, V. Bomasuto, M. Hollender, T. Panetta have two hits apiece. B. Buchanan, second of three Webster hurlers, gets win. J. Turner (3bi), R. Hall (2bi) with three hits each.

RDragons later in the day sink Franklin & Marshall 13-3 with 17-hit assault. M. Rosing with first inning rbi triple, A. Iacomini double drives in third inning pair and A. Smith delivers two-run double during six-run fifth frame. Junior righty G. Hoag allows one hit over first five innings with one walk, seven strikeouts. Cortland deals Wheaton, Mass first loss with 7-0 Thursday afternoon victory in Auburndale, FL. M. Palumbo tosses six innings of three-hit ball for 9-2 RDragons. Wheaton had won first six contests including Monday's 5-2 downing of Webster, MO, earlier conqueror of Cortland. Palumbo strikes out three and walks no one. S. Komanecky pitches final three innings to complete CSt five-hitter.

Key blow is T. Panetta's bases loaded clearing double in the second inning. Insurance comes in four-run ninth. All runs earned. Corts finish with seven hits and are errorless. Panetta 2x4, 4bi, r. Pinch-hitter M. DeCarr 1x1, bi, r; V. Bomasuto bi; A. Iacomini bi, r.  Wheaton with three miscues. A. Palioca takes pitching loss despite yielding mere three hits over seven innings. Three relievers follow.

Cortland on Friday faces '13 world series finalist Southern Maine whose Huskies last weekend made weather delayed season start in downstate NY, beating Western New England 14-1 and Old Westbury 8-2. USM makes Florida trip debut tomorrow

Cortland held off by Southern Maine whose Huskies win 10-9 verdict in clash of nationally ranked top 10 squads at Auburndale, FL. Corts, trailing 7-1 through 5 1/2 innngs, leave tying run at second base in the bottom of the ninth. USM's F. Chadwick moves from the outfield to the mound to record the save after giving up leadoff walk. Both sides with 13 hits, USM actually hitless until J. Glauser's one-out triple in the fifth inning. S. Dexter's clutch two-out rbi single to left snaps 1-1 tie and begins five-run uprising that includes pair of doubles. Ten Huskies come to bat.

Huskies add seventh run in the sixth but Cortland cuts deficit to 7-5 in its sixth. M. DeCarr delivers double to clear loaded sacks and B. Marotta singles in DeCarr. USM's M. Verrier homers to left in the seventh to make it 8-5 and mates J. Carey and Chadwick produce runs with eighth inning hits for a 10-5 edge. But RDragons tally four in their eighth featuring DeCarr's solo home run, V. Bomasuto rbi double and C. Jackson sac fly. Strand tying run.

S. Kimmelman pitches first 4.2 innings for Cortland followed by three others. S. Scates gets the win working the first five innings. A. Cortland nails down 10th win in 7-1 fashion over Clarkson in Leesburg to windup Florida swing. B. McClain pitches 7.1 innings of six-hit ball, earned run, walk and fans three. V. Bomasuto closes. Corts with 11 hits. Game scoreless till RDragons push over fifth inning run. Add two in the sixth before Clarkson scores. CSt with two in the eighth, two in the ninth. G. Cortland tumbles to Shenandoah 13-10 in Winchester, VA, RDragons' final stop on weeklong southern spring break trip. Corts 10-4 and slated to host Ithaca Wednesday. Shenandoah Hornets (12-2) sting Cortland with eight-run fifth inning to erase 2-1 deficit. All eight runs unearned resulting from an infield error. N. Overby's single begins Shens uprising and adds exclamation point with grand slam to left. Twas fourth hit in the frame along with three bases on balls. 

Dragons pour over four runs in the sixth on three hits and two walks before rally shortcircuited via line drive doubleplay. Leaves CSt in 9-6 hole. Hornets tally one in the sixth and three in the eighth to build 13-7 gap. With snow falling, Cortland scores three in the ninth and finishes with 16 hits to Shens' 11.

B. Serio starts for Corts and let down by bullpen in the fifth. First reliever yields walk, walk, grand slam. Three follow. Z. Ferris roughed up in 2.2 innings. P. Oswego (6-1) rides seven game win streak with 10-3 win over Allegheny, Pa (5-3) in Florida. Lakers earlier in nice comeback to beat Babson, then 4-0 shutout of Amherst

Brockport (7-2) downs Ripon 7-0 in Florida this evening. Test vs. Fontbonne, Mo canceled

Fredonia (4-5) today in Fort Myers slips 5-4 to veteran Knox Prairie Fire, Ill. Blue Devils on Monday loses 8-0 to Hopkins. Have beaten St. Lawrence and Skidmore

Plattsburgh 3-6. Oneonta 3-8 coming off S. Ascher named conference pitcher of the week with 2-0 win vs. Clarkson

Score in six of eight innings; takes 4-0 lead in the second inning. Pitcher M. Palumbo in 7.0 innings allows 5 hits, a run, earned, 2bb with 6Ks. D. Castaldo 3x5, 3r, bi in leadoff role.
