Oneonta earns split at Oswego, winning the nine inning second game 6-2 to end a 12 game tailspin. That follows come-from-behind 7-5 Oswego victory.
      Oneonta rides B. Riedel's three-run sixth inning home run to provide a 4-2 upper hand against Laker whiz T. Cronin (8inn, 5r, 3er, 7h, 0w, 8k). The RDragons add single runs in the eighth and ninth frames and receive standout R. Lyman four inning relief work for N. Ponesse (5inn, 2r, 2er, 5h, 2w, 1k). C. Kies 3x3, 2r, 2bh; W.       In the first game Oswego rises to down Oneonta 7-5 with five runs over the fifth and sixth innings of seven inning tilt. Oneonta holds 5-0 lead through 2 1/2 innings. B. Brockport sweeps Plattsburgh with 10-6 second game outcome on the heels of a rallying 6-5 initial verdeict.
       Brockport in the second game tallies eight runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings for 8-4 control and escapes a bases loaded Plattsburgh bid in the ninth. Fourth Port hurler S. New Paltz nails down its first conference victory by outlasting Fredonia 12-10 in the second game of their doubleheader at Fredonia neighbor North Collins HS. Fredonia prevails 6-5 in the first game.
      New Paltz breaks eight game losing streak in the second outing. Shakes free of 6-6 tie in four-run fifth. Wild pitch the go-ahead marker. A. DiNardo with two-rbi single and T. Bell rbi double. Meanwhile,  21-2 Cortland basking while idle -- till Monday dh and Tuesday game at Fredonia, and poised to become this week's national No. 1. Am sure skipper Joe Brown isn't all that welcoming to have THAT bull's-eye on his current D3 (media) and ABCA (coaches) second-ranked Red Dragons. Like it or not, No. 1s in the most recent polls both lost Saturday.

D3 leader Salisbury MD fell for the first time. Capital AC rival and No. 8 ranked Frostburg MD claimed 10-0 and 8-7(11inn) home wins, earning the conference tourney top seed. Sea Gulls of Salisbury 21-2, Frostburg 26-3 including early March win vs. Brockport.

ABCA frontrunner and D3 No. 3 Wisc-Whitewater split a home doubleheader with Wisc-LaCrosse, winning 7-5 before bowing 6-3

Plattsburgh finally enjoys home cookin' with 14-1 flyover of Oneonta in nine inning second game of doubleheader. Follows Oneonta 11-2 romp in the first game. Cards playing at home Chip Cummings Field for first time this season.
      Plattsburgh scores four times in the fifth to break 1-1 tie. T. Bulich with two-run double to left. M. Vargues opens the rally with a two-bagger. Cortland as expected climbs to the head of the D3 (media) national poll. Off to their best start in school history at 23-2, RDragons ascend from No. 2 slot while former leader Salisbury MD drops to third after recent double dip to Frostburg MD. Cortland (21-2 through Sunday voting) with 13 first place votes. Wisc-Whitewater (18-3), which split two doubleheaders with unranked Wisc-LaCrosse, rises from third to No. 2 and collects six first place votes. Salisbury (21-2) has three first place votes as does No. 4 Frostburg (27-3), formerly No. 8. Kean NJ (24-6) remains No. 5.

Cortland also No. 1 in American Baseball Coaches Association weekly poll released today. Red Dragons also front the weekly D3 media poll.
Cortland and Wisc-Whitewater reverse first and second roles of the previous week. Frostburg MD advances from sixth to third, Salisbury MD drops from third to fourth, Kean NJ climbs from eighth to fifth.
Oswego and Clarkson make headway to just outside the top 30. Rochester receives a point

Huge eighth inning sees the Blue Devils score seven runs on eight hits, two by J. Prentice whose single starts the uprising and his one-out single tallies the 11th run. Oswego frosh R.       Important games for both. Yes, even current last place NP which still has five conference games remaining (2 at Oneonta, 3 at Bport). Cardinals fell Saturday to NP and trying to hang on to playoff berth. Currently hold final fourth slot with three games remaining (3 vs. Cortland).

Cortland and Oswego have nailed down YAC postseason slots and still vying for first place and the tourney host role. Play doubleheader Tuesday at Oswego where Lakers need at least one win to stay alive in that pursuit. Oswego wraps up league duty that day. Corts have three game set at Plattsburgh left.

Current third place Brockport just a game ahead of Plattsburgh and has five conference games remaining (2 vs. Fredonia, 3 vs. NP). Fredonia after two tough defeats at Oswego still with hope. Five conference tests to play (2 at Bport, 3 at Oneonta). Oneonta still living on the edge. Five conference games left (2 vs. NP, 3 vs. Fredonia)

          Cortland TRIPLE PLAY ends the seven inning opener. With first two Lakers aboard, RDragon pitcher S. Lamando (4-0) snares J. Giller first pitch popup bunt, tosses to shortstop A. Simon at second and he makes return throw to A. Clock at first. Lakers look to again weave late game magic when E. Hamilton begins the bottom of the seventh with a walk. M. Kutscher follows with a single. Both nabbed on the move.
Corts just four hits (Simon 2x3) vs. Laker lefty B. Karnichak who throws over 110 pitches. Oswego with two errors.
Cortland scores twice in the  third in showdown. M. Michalski leads off Corts third with single. Only hit of the inning. Groundouts by J. Teague and C. Ziemendorf produce runs. A. Simon single in the fourth precedes sac bunt and M. DeMilio two-strike rbi single to center. Laker E. Hamilton two-ball two-out solo home run in bottom of the fourth is first Oswego first hit and narrows deficit to 3-1.
          Cortland southpaw B. McClain (4-0) tosses the second game and goes seven innings (1r, 1er, 3h, 3w, 4k). T. Laitar records the save (2inn, 3k). Brockport and Fredonia split doubleheader in Fredonia, though Port the home team. Eagles emerge 4-3 leaders in the second contest. Fredonia prevails 3-2 in the first outing.

DiNardo (1-0) holds Oneonta hitless with two walks and three strikeouts over the final four innings. DiNardo induces flyout to right with OSt runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth.
