Cortland gets superb relief pitching from tourney MVP Scott Roberts and tops Oswego 8-6 in conference playoff final game Saturday at Cortland. Teams split Friday's opening action in best-of-3 series. RDragons (27-6) earn spot in NCAA tourney .... Oswego (24-5) probable at-large selection. Series was first Cortland/Oswego meeting of the season. Won respective East and West divisions.
        Teams locked in 5-5 draw after just two innings when suspect pitching depth becomes apparent after many spent-arms the previous day. But from there, mound work stiffens along with solid defensive play. Oswego on R. Enos rbi single takes 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth. Cortland answers with two in its fifth on B. Rhodes double for 7-6 edge and adds sixth inning run -- the last of the game, when J. Varian and D. Coleman hit successive doubles. Meanwhile, Roberts, quickly kayoed in a Friday appearance, twirls 7.1 innings (WP 1-0, 5h, 1r, 0er, 0bb, 3k, 94p) and induces doubleplay to finish the game.
