Cortland finishes off MIT by 7-1 count Sunday in Baltimore for RDragons' fifth win in six starts. MIT (0-3) held to three hits by five Cortland pitchers headed by Z. Durant (2.1inn, 1r, 4bb, 3k). Oswego loses tough 6-5 Sunday game at Salisbury MD whose Sea Gulls complete comeback in walk-off fashion. Lakers (1-2) stake themselves to 4-1 lead on fifth inning rbi singles from R. Enos, K. Lauria and R. Weiss. Salisbury (4-4) bounces back with two scores in its fifth. Exchange of runs in fthe seventh leave Oswego up 5-4. Unearned run in the eighth knots it for the Gulls who win in the ninth on leadoff single, walk, sac bunt, intentional walk and C. Hyder rbi single to left. For Lakers, P. Plattsburgh suffers late 6-5 and 16-7 setbacks Sunday to NY Maritime on Long Island in season opening seven-inning contests for both teams.
     First game has seamen strike four times in the bottom of the final inning. Result spoils strong pitching start by Cardinals' S. Malamud (6inn, 6h, 2r, 2er, 4bb, 1k). On S. Messerschmit rbi single to right, Pburgh on top 5-2 in the fifth. But two Cards relievers give up four runs on four hits and a walk in the seventh when J. Shea two-run triple is fatal blow.
     Second game over soon when Maritime tacks on six runs in the second inning. Adds seven in the fifth. F. Geraci with two Pburgh safeties. A. Veit starts (1.2inn, 1h, 7r, 1er, 7bb, 1k). Cards at Brooklyn St. Joe's next weekend.

Oneonta bows 8-2 and 4-0 Sunday at Rutgers-Camden NJ in the first of two seventh inning contests launching both programs campaigns.
     First game finds J. Barrett and S. Liquori hits lifting RDragons to 2-1 lead in the third. Hosts in 3-2 reversal an inning later and seal the deal with five-run fifth. Liquori (2.1inn, 4h, 4r, 4er, 3bb, 1k) absorbs loss in relief of starter M. Losak. Barrett and Liquori with four of Oneonta's seven hits.

Cortland (5-1), whose Wednesday game at opening Rochester ppd, moves into top spot in D3 media national poll after starting No. 2 in preseason. Former No. 1 and defending national champ Salisbury (4-4) eighth following pair of losses to RDragons last weekend. Cortland garners 20 first place poll votes and has Marietta (O, 2-1), Birmingham Southern (6-2), Adrian (MI 2-0) and John Hopkins (MD 2-1 with the loss to Cortland) on its heels.

A. Fusco winning hurler with 15 groundball outs through six innings (5h, 1r, 1er, 0bb, 2k, 79p). P. Dalton with two hitless innings (2k, 31p), T. Olmo one (1k, 13p).        First Game: Debuting Eagles strike early (four-run first inning) and late (seven-run eighth). Cortland with big fifth frame featuring D. Coleman grand slam and dh A. Oswego in homer-happy mode Saturday while convincingly winning over two challengers in Winchester VA. Lakers batter Keystone PA 27-14 as R. Enos slugs three of his team's five roundtrippers, and then down 18th ranked host Shenandoah VA 9-2 ignited by two P. Tammaro home runs -- his third in the two games.
        First Game: Enos' three big flys part of 6x7, 5r, 5bi performance. Lakers pound out 23 hits. Actually trail Keystone 5-3 after an inning. Assume 9-5 lead with five-run third in which Tammaro whacks three-run homer and Enos solo blow. Enos also homers in the sixth and seventh innings. Adds a double. Lakers close with seven-run ninth. L.        Second Game: Tammaro leads off the contest with homer preceding four walks for 2-0 lead. With one-out in the second inning Tammaro connects over the left field barrier.        Second Game: Tied 2-2 into the final frame, Hawks with five-run eruption including L. Alvarez rbi triple, J. Ortiz two-run single and R. Mackle run-producing double to build NP hit total to seven. Errorless effort by the winners. B. Moeller goes the distance (7inn, 4h, 3r, 3er, 0bb, 9k).

Cortland, whose Tuesday home booking vs. Ithaca (4-1) is ppd, barely holds its No. 1 D3 media national rating with a 7-2 record. RDragons receive 7 first place votes -- down from 20 the previous week. Have 585 voting points ahead of Marietta's (3-1) 582 along with 8 first place votes. Birmingham Southern (10-2) has 566 points with 4 No. 1 votes, followed by North Central ILL (7-0) with 557 and 5, and Salisbury MD (7-4) with 457.
Oswego (4-2) is just outside the top 25. Rochester (4-1) and St. John Fisher also receive votes. Oswego's Ryan Enos on this week's D3 national team of the week.
