Spring has sprung ... has it ever!! As in sprung a leak. Cold weather plays havoc with upcoming conference starts.
  BUT Plattsburgh and New Paltz move series start to Thursday when Burgh outruns homestanding Paltz 16-11. Cardinals with 14-7 lead thru seven innings. N. Corgol heads attack (3x6, 3r, 5bi, 2 2bh, hr). K. Mordecki WP (6inn, 7h, 5r, 4er, 2bb, 2k). Harvey boys spark NP: Justin (3x5, 2r, 3bi, 2bh, hr), Nick (2x4, 2r, 3bi, hr, sf). J. Will LP. Pburgh 1-0, 10-3 overall; NP 0-1, 6-6.
  Playing DH Friday in mid-30s temps.

Cortland gets Tuesday night early game shoutout on Chi Cubs' telecast. Color commentator Jim Deshaies IDs first base umpire C.B. Bucknor ....'former centerfielder for the Cortland St. Red Dragons'.
  No doubt Deshaise and Bucknor paths crossed collegiately in the early '80s while  Deshaises was at Syracuse's LeMoyne College. The southpaw pitcher went on to nearly 200 National League decisions. Of course, he may be better known for Chris Berman's play on the do-wop lyrics 'two silhouettes on Deshaies' da-da.

Weather continues to shuffle schedules. Still on Friday conference docket is New Paltz at Oneonta -- now two games with a single Saturday.
    Brockport at Oswego shifts to Syracuse Onondaga CC for Saturday dh, and to Auburn Falcon Park for Sunday single. BUT Bport revision has single game Saturday, dh Sunday.
    Plattsburgh at Frdonia for Saturday single, dh Sunday.
    Cortland in home Saturday non-league dh vs. 3-21-1 Penn St. Berks.

  Cortland stretches winning streak to 11 with Thursday 9-6 downing of Castleton VT as starter M. Nochowitz notches fourth win in as many starts, and M. Bruno 3x4, 3r, 2bi, 3bh. That outcome follows Wednesday evening 11-7 win at Rochester where Bruno (2x5, r, 5bi, 2 2bh) has two-run doubles in first and ninth innings while N. Smith (3x4, 2r, bi, bb) and C. Bonacci (2x5, 3r, bb) have big games.
    Plattsburgh on Thursday stops Clarkson 7-1.

Oswego and Brockport use long balls to split Saturday doubleheader at Onondaga CC in Syracuse.
    First Game: Oswego trips Bport 11-10 on O. Parliament and T. Featherstone back-to-back home runs leading off the bottom of the ninth inning. First of two Saturday games at Onondaga CC in Syracuse. Lakers slug four homers. Featherstone also homers with two aboard in the third inning after Bport jumps out to 5-0 lead thru two frames. J. Levine later pokes three-run homer. Featherstone 2x3, 3r, 4bi, bb, hbp, 2bh, 2hr. Parliament 3x5, r, 3bi, 2bh.
  Second Game: Brockport prevails 9-7 when Z. Eldred hits two-run homer in the eighth inning to break 7-7 tie. Meanwhile E. Servellon and M. Heilig (WP) hold Lakers to one hit over the final six innings. Still, Oswego's Featherstone has another big game with a double, home run, sac fly and four rbi in five at-bats but was retired with the bases loaded for the final out.

Burgh in 7-1 command till late Fredonia push. Card J. Defayette 3x4, 2r. Four Devil miscues spell just three earned Pburgh runs.
