Anyone have any information from any of the fall scrimmages?

At Brockport, the green beat the white 2 games to 1.  White took the lead in each game, but green came back to win twice.  Retuning players all looked very good, and several of the new guys did very well.  Not too many surprises... but three very good baseball games.

Looks like the holes that were created from graduation have been filled... now they just need experience of a few games to feel comfortable with the new team mates so that the chemistry can take hold.

Anyone have anything on any other SUNYAC scrimmages?

At Plattsburgh on 10/6 the Gray team was beating the Red team in the 1st
when it started raining hard. I mean a downpour ! It was called and I had
to drive 5 hours back home, but it was worth it being at that field. The team
looked pretty strong with the returners and newcomers !

Bob Maxwell

Humpster,

Sorry it rained on the game... you wait through the 4 weeks fo practice and then to not be able to watch them play due to rain really is tough.  But as you say, you got to get to the field and see a little bit makes it exciting...  can't wait until March when we get back out on the field!
Does your son play at Plattsburgh?  Or just an alum who was there for the game?

Humpster

Bob,
Yes my son Brandon plays for Plattsburgh. I am like you I don't know if
I can wait until March! It seems like such a long way off!

Bob Maxwell

Humpster,

Good to hear that... look forward to saying hi when Brockport comes to Plattsburgh in April next Spring.

Humpster

Bob,
Yes, at our Plattsburgh, Brockport game I will ask around until I find
who you are so I can say "Hi". Also to look at the person who is so
knowledgeable on this forum .

Bob Maxwell

Thanks for the nice words... I not so sure about being knowledgable on here.  I am sure that there are a lot of people who wonder what I'm talking about much of the time...  :D

I do admit that I root openly for Brockport...but at the same time do try to keep my comments so that they are not off the cuff & grounded in some facts... and are measured in fairness to both sides of the discussion.

Along with being a Brockport supporter, I do try to support the other SUNYAC teams too when BP isn't involved... and then the NY region as a group.

I look forward to saying hi... and hope we see two good games in sunny, 70 degree weather!   :)

BoomerIL,
How did your son do last year at RIT ? What is his name ?

BoomerIL

Humpster.....

I guess when people mention Rochester, they probably think of RIT first.  My son is a sophomore at the University of Rochester.

He did fairly well.  He was the everyday centerfielder, and was the leadoff hitter for most of the season.  He received Liberty League Rookie of The Week in April, Conference Honorable Mention for the season, lead the conference in fielding percentage (68 chances with 64 putouts, 3DP's and 1 assist), 8th in conference with 1.22 hits per game, .319 overall batting average, 44 hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 0 hr's, etc., etc.  I'm very proud of him, plus he did exceptionally well academically.

And when Rochester played Brockport he went 4 for 4...

Humpster

BoomerIL,
Sorry about that ( RIT instead of U of R ). I guess you can say he
had a pretty good year on and off the field!

BoomerIL

Humpster.....

No problem!!  When ever I mention Rochester, anywhere, everyone thinks of RIT.

I don't normally spout-off about my son and what he does, on or off the field.  For him to play as a freshman was a big thrill for mom and me.  He works hard in what ever he does.  He's certainly not the biggest player you'll ever see, but he gives it his best all of the time.  I just hope he can repeat his accomplishments this coming season.

What position does your son play?  What year is he in?  You mentioned in a previous post that it had rained and you had five hours to drive back home.  Where is home?  Besides, I can relate.  Last April I drove out (9-1/2 hours) to watch my son play a weekend DH against RPI.  The one morning there wa sabout 2" of snow on the ground!!!  I still had a great time, and I'm going to do it again!!!!

any info on the cortland team 2008?

Humpster

BoomerIL,
Brandon is a catcher in his senior year. He loves the game and
the best thing I like is that he got back behind the dish! In his soph.
year he broke his elbow during warm-ups throwing down to second,
season over! Junior & senior year he played the infield. So for the last 4
years he did not catch, he played infield and outfield at Comm. College
also. So I am pretty happy that he is catching again  :D
