Anyone care to give an all-time SUNYAC team?  Also, who is the best position player and the best pitcher to ever come out of the SUNYAC?  I've been following the conference for the past five years so I'm curious to hear about talent within the conference prior to that.

Thats a tall order, almost an impossible task.
-Are you going to just factor in SUNYAC games or all games played?
-Are we looking at overall talent or performance! I'm asking because there have been plenty of guys drafted, but scouts draft on physical characteristics and projectability and those aren't always the guys who understand and play the game the best!

Over the years, there have been alot of great players and teams.
Best position player ever, Best pitcher ever?
I have a pretty good idea who was the best of the best from the 90's...

Scuba, after I wrote my original post I realized that that was a near impossible task.  Mainly because of how rare it is that many people who participate on this board have not been following the SUNYAC conference long enough or close enough to narrow it down.  On top of that it's hard to remember everyone over the years who could be considered and there's just too many players.  Without a narrowed down, compiled listing of stats and honors in front of you it's hard to figure out the best of the best.

I know that there have been some very good players over the years and what criteria should be used?  I guess I was just wondering who could be considered the best player(s) to come out of the SUNYAC based on whatever criteria is deemed necessary, draft position for instance? That says quite a bit about how good a player is eventhough scouts overlook DIII kids all the time who deserve a chance to play at the next level.  Just trying to get some opinions from people who have followed the conference over the years.  I'm interested in hearing these opinions and learning a little bit about the history of the conference.  Thought it might create some discussion or debate among those who know the conference well.  I know CB Bucknor is a Cortland alumn who now serves as an MLB umpire in the AL I believe!

You should Scuba, you were in college almost the entire decade.

In all seriousness, that is a pretty tough topic.  Aside from a few years in the mid 90's, I don't know enough about teams other than Cortland to have a fair opinion.  Even then, we only played half the conference, not everyone.

Been out of town for a while... nice to be back and catch up with reading...

Pudge, thanks for the chuckle with the comment about Scuba and the 90's.  Many of us spent a decade in collge... or at least it felt like it!!!  LOL

The Cortland-Brockport doubleheader for Saturday has been rescheduled to Sunday if the field is playable. Cortland's games at Fredonia originally scheduled for Sunday are on hold.
