Cycle,

Thanks for that... and I can understand where you could view the postion and this board as a potential conflict.  If I was involved at the D-III level I would agree with you... but the designated level is different.

My son chose to play where he is for all his own reasons, and they were all very well thought out.  The 3 most important being that: 1) he liked the school and felt comfortable on the campus; 2) He can study what we wanted to and his instructors are all first rate "teachers" and not just PHD's; and 3) The baseball program is competative and led by a coach who is a great person whoboth  demands and gives respet.

Now that he is where he is, I try my darndest to only be a parent when at his events... and try to be on my best, non meddling behavior too.

I enjoy sharing on this board, as everyone here is both knowlegable and a fan!!!

Look forward to more exchange of viewpoints!

SHHHH....

With all the talk about Plattsburgh, if you listen very carefully you can hear Oneonta sneaking up!!!

There have to be more thoughts on the season out there...

SUNYAC teams open up tomorrow when New Paltz plays St. Mary's in Maryland.  Hope the rain  that is movnign through PA right now doesn't cause a problem...

I dont care if you didn't ask me cycle, I responded....your comments about Bob were inappropriate so I felt the need to say something. I'll respond to any comments I want.

John, are we talking about the same Nick Devitto who hit below the Mendoza line last season.....it'll be interesting to see where he fits in the mix there.

Spree

cycle,

talk about having a lot of time on your hands...going out of your way to find out a poster's profession...pretty pathetic if you ask me.

personally, I could careless if Bob was the head coach of Cortland.  Everyone has their own opinion and its interesting to see what people think.  I actually would welcome a coach to the board.  At least we could finally get some good insight around here.

Its always nice for people like McGraw and Bob, people who are closer to the game than the average fan.

why dont you come up with some valuable information before you talk next time

thank you, come again

d3fan039

Spree,

You couldnt have said it better.  Has cycle even brought up any relevant information besides Christopher Newport played Cortland. Every post ive seen has been him backlashing someones comment.

I recall and early discussion about Mattes and Bilyk....anyone know why they aren't listed on the roster with numbers. I hear Mattes jumped off a roof and broke his leg....I don't if that true or not, so we can only speculate.

SUNYAC opener tom for New Paltz, and Cortland on Saturday

Dr Baseball,

I think that someone did mention that one of them was hurt doing some type of silly stunt... believe that was Mattess.  Not sure on Bilyk.  I think it was John who mentioned it.  But if anyone has any more information, lets hear it!

Wonder what the field conditions are in Maryland and Virginia... not sure where the rain cut off yesterday.  Will be nice to read about games!!!  FINALLY! With it being 13 degrees here this morning... it will be nice to see a box score from a game played within the last 9 months!!! :D

As for the other issue...   It has been dealt with and it is over with, so lets just drop it.

What is the quote from the rookie?  When Jimmy Morris comes backinto the AAA locker room after he was contemplating quiting...  "Hey Brooks, guess what we get to do today... we get to play baseball"

That is a stretch, as  we donn't actually get to play... but we do have games to follow, just the the south and west regions have for 3 weeks now.

Play Ball!!!

Looks like New Paltz got off to a pretty good start this afternoon......St Mary's handed them a 24-9 shalacking. Opening day starter freshman John Giuliano tagged for 12 earned runs(must have high thoughts on the kid starting him over some of the veterans) unless New Paltz is saving there better arms for the 3 game series with Randolph Macon beginning tomorrow

Bob Maxwell

WOW... they did get blasted.  But one of the new guys had a good day at the plate.  1B - Marsh (2-4)

And DeKams had a good day at the plate too.   3-5   AND, C- Helf went 3-4

But pitchign is a big part of the game...so they need to get more from their veterans...

Tomorrow Cortland opens...

jdex

Cortland whacks host Hampden-Sydney, Va, 13-7, in opener. J. Dougher wins with five inning five-hit, one walk performance. G. Jweid gets save in three innings work. M. Vitalone 3x4, 3bi; T. Robinson 3x7; M. Zaccardo and D. Maycock each poke pair of doubles. NCBA sixth ranked Red Dragons currently playing Richard Stockton. Go Sunday at Mary Washington, Va., though weather may not cooperate (rain).

TRhit

For those wondering about the Bilyk boy-- he is out for the semester due to a bout with pneumonia last fall which kept him out of class and has left him weak and still recovering

Hope this helps you

jdex

Cortland 2-0 with 9-4 victory over Richard Stockton Ospreys in Va. M. Zgorzelski 5 innings, 6 hit mound winnah. D. Maycock 3x5, T. Robinson 2x5

jdex...I don't think using the word "wacking" someone is an understatement when the final score is 13-7.....but the boys from H-SC did cut the lead to 9-7 with a 6 spot in the 6th and made things interesting up to the 8th...your guys score 3 in the 9th to put it away..... your starter Dougher threw well and your closer Jwed must have tied a string to the umpires arm because it seemed like everytime he threw the ball the umpires right hand went into the air....boy did he paint the corners...real crafty...you guys hit up and down in the order...I believe Cortland is the real deal again this year...good luck to your boys.

go Tigers

fieldofdreams

It's snowing like crazy in Fredericksburg this morning doesn't look likely Cortland will get on the field today against Mary Washington  :(

Bob Maxwell

No box scores on websites yet... if both pitchers threw so well... how did they give up 7 runs?  I know it happens... just wondering.  Sounds like it was the one inning when they gave up 6.

New Paltz had a coulpe better games yesterday, but they lost them both...

h-sc bball

I'm sorry I don't know all names but the coach pitched Dougher the 1st 5...he was sharp...good command of 3 pitches....then he brought in a lefty ( I can't remember his name) that couldn't find the plate...he pitched behind in the count and we had your typical big inning with some walks..hit batter.... a couple of seeing eye hits and then the one big shot and well you got 6 before you know it. Sydney just got the bats going...you brought in a right hander to try and finish the 6th but gave up a couple of hits before he stopped the bleeding. Jewd came in the bottom of 7th and just painted corners...in and out...he only gave up one hit....real crafty pitcher with a lot of movement on his fastball.
