Oneonta improves to 7-0 with win over Washington College.

John McGraw

Cortland continues it's unbeaten swing through Florida with an 8-3 win over Salve Regina. Dragons plated six runs over the first three innings. They'll play Rhode Island college in a 2005 NCAA tournament playoff rematch tomorrow.

The home opener on March 24 is only two weeks away.

Oneonta 9-0 after two wins over Bridgewater St. (Mass). Oneonta have any chance at becoming ranked if they go 11-1 or 12-0 in Cocoa Beach?

Cortland stops Rhode Island College 5-4 with two-run eighth inning featuring rbi blows from A. Gardner and S. Nickel. G. Jweid delivers two-plus innings of solid relief. RI suffers first loss in eight starts

Myers and Flarherty did not go to florida with Oneonta, O-state pitching looking tough on the florida trip, Juedes 2-0, 3 runs in 14 1/3 innings, Filak 1-0 3 runs in 12 Innings, the other guys have pitched pretty well also, hitting has been better then expected without Myers, they have 3 games left, Washington College and a DH with Norwich, they could run the table in Florida and have a 12-0 start.

No. If Cortland is ranked in the middle of the pack in the nation, another SUNYAC team doesn't deserve to be ranked in the top 25. Cortland is still mostly head and shoulders above the rest of the field in the league, Oneonta as well.

Dave Bradley

In the Oneonta 9 win streak they beat a D2 team twice and Washington was 3-0 when they beat them, if they go 12-0 they could get ranked in my opinion.

Jack31 & Manbearpig21:  Any input is welcome on this board... especially if it is insite to SUNYAC teams.  Everyone on here seems to have information on Cortland... it is great to see fans from ohter teams joining in.  If your SUNYAC fans you know I'm a Brockport supporter, but with Rob not there anymore don't have as much insite on what is happening day to day.  But still follow them... and hope to get to several games this year.

They lost a tough one to Kean last weekend... had a 3 run lead and a big bottom of the 8th by Kean did them in.  But they look like they will once again be right in the mix in the SUNYAC!

Does anyone know if Myers and Flaherty went on the trip and just won't play... or were they kept home on the trip?

And Cortland wins one for the SUNYAC over a top team from the Liberty League!  Good Job... now everyone else needs to do the same when their turn comes.  Show we are the top conference in NY Region!!!

Thanks for the welcome!

I plan on going to as many plattsburgh games as possable this year and will let you guys know what i thought of the games.

Looks like the SUNYAC is going to have some good teams in it this year with cortland and Oneonta's good florida trips so far.  One thing i can honestly say is i that i root for every SUNYAC team as long as they aren't playing conference games.  So good luck to all of them on their spring breaks.

Bob Maxwell

Dave, Thanks for updating us... It does look like they are having a good spring trip.  I wonder if there will be any "growing pains or disruptions to momentum" when they return and Myers/Flaherty jump back into the lineup.

As for getting into the top 25 rankings... John is on the right track, and it is just part of the reality of rankings polls.  Until there is some head to head or other comparible scores to look at it is really hard to jump over a team unless one team does really bd or good.  yes, 11-1 is a good record, but it is not against other ranked teams so while it does get you on the radar screens it isn't weighted heavy enough to jump somone.  And Cortalnd is the top team in NY Region you will need to jump and they have slipped in the rankings.  there aren't any other NY teams... but RPI, Ithaca and Rochester have all received some votes... so possiblely they can get some votes, but I don't expect them to jump into the national top 25.

Outside of the SUNYAC games where I root for a result that will help Brockport... I do root for the other SUNYAC teams to win their non-conference games.  That is the only way that two or more teams will gain any recogonition on the national scene.  And for the last couple of years, SUNYAC teams have slipped out of the regional polls when they lose to each other in the tournament... partly becasue of the non-conference records.

Rob and I went to the World Series last May, and were hoping to see Cortland play deep into the tournament... but they had a tough first round match up and lost a couple of tough games.  You should all consider taking that trip... it really was a lot of fun!!!

Borckport is in Phoenix starting Saturday night so they should start having some results... its a pretty tough schedule so we will see how fast they come together.  Should (could) have beatne Kean last Saturday.

Every year Coach Ferchen lines up a trash schedule down south and Oneonta comes out of Florida with this tremendous record.  This year is no different, their schedule is junk.  Two wins over a garbage DII school has no bearing on the rankings.  Oh wait a minute, you also said a win over powerhouse Washington U.  Goodness gracious they should be ranked, what am I thinking?  Ithaca pounds them on a yearly basis.  I'm all for SUNYAC teams doing well but Oneonta plays the absolute WORST schedule down south, it is a joke!  Stop going to the Cocoa Beach Expo and go some place in Arizona or Florida where there's some quality teams and maybe Oneonta will receive some votes.  Otherwise it's the same old story.  Besides, Ferchen must be tired of partying in Cocoa Beach after all these years!

Cortland crushes Messiah 12-1 in Florida. M. Mahay serves up win backed by early 11-0 cushion. RDragons 6-0 in F.L.A. and 7-3 overall

Cortland on Saturday sweeps Clarkson 8-4, 13-4 to complete 8-0 Florida swing. RDragons 9-3 overall, Clarkson 2-2

John McGraw

Cortland's back up to the northeast next weekend with games against Farmingdale State, Montclair State and Manhattanville. After seeing Montclair last year, the game with Cortland should have a 3.5 hour time limit.

scuba,

nice call on simone and the .400 batting avg. Rough weekend for the soph, hopefully he can turn it around, looks like JB has confidence in him still which is good.

d3nybaseball,
thanks alot, i was starting to think about eating a little crow but i would like to point out that after starting 0-11, simone is 16-36 which = .444. he has raised his avg to like .340 in 8 games. the kid can rake and it will show over the rest of the season.
In sports it's not how you start, its how you finish!

Brockport split with Keene yesterday, dropping the first one 13-4, but rebounding to win the second game 11-4.  Jamie Rose is tatooing the ball to start the year.... hope he can keep it going while some of the other bats find their way.
