why does what i do bother you John....... Is it because I'm not a Cortland or Coach brown fan......if i had all the talent Coach Brown has knocking on his door each year not to mention transfers jumping ship I would put up good numbers too.....  It is not all about W and L's ......  Any, if not all Sunyac has a chance against Cortland this year..... go get um.... see ya.....

Plattsburgh sweeps their Florida trip and ends up at 13-1 to start the season.  Yesterday they swept Minnesota-Morris (8-1; 8-2).  Tyler Green tossed 6 perfect innings in game 1.  Today they swept Millikin with their aces, O'Leary and Tracy on the mound (no scores up yet).  Every day the whole team is contributing and getting better, especially in the pitching department.  I have to say that I am impressed with their ability to manufacture runs on a consistent basis too.

We still have a long road through SUNYAC play to see how things will shape up.  Every coach and player knows that those are the games that matter the most.

Cortland rocks Wisc-Whitewater 17-9 with 20 hit assault. RDragons finish 4-3 in F L A. First loss for Whitewaters

I have to give Cortland and Coach Brown credit for beating a very good Whitewater team today...nice job!  However, I'm happy for the other SUNYAC teams who have started off doing well but let's be honest folks.  Brockport plays a very respectable schedule and New Paltz did play a strong Salisbury team well but Oneonta and Plattsburgh PLEASE! A win is a win and I get the momentum thing but playing a weak schedule as these programs do is of no value.  Sorry if I ruffle some feathers but if you want credit then earn it against the big dogs of DIII!

ballsy

whitewater with 6 errors .... tough to win with that stat.

Kski

I gotta admit Marvin, you got a good point.  I want to believe that Plattsburgh can play with any team on any given day.  They have shown a lot of promise and swept teams that Fredonia lost to in Fort Meyers.  That's all we can really tell from their performance, and Fredonia's.

Cortland has history behind them and that is why they get to play against better competition during their spring trip.  Other powerhouses want to play them to see where they stack up.  Likewise, Cortland  wants to play other good teams for the same reason.

No offense taken in the "ruffling of feathers" thing.  It's a valid argument.  A lot of questions are left unanswered during this part of the season.  All we have are our opinions.  We just have to wait and see what happens later on in the season.

Kski, your comment is very much appreciated!  Nothing but respect for the Plattsburgh program and the players who have worked hard to establish it as a respectable program in such a short time.  I don't even like to put it in the same sentence as Oneonta but would just like to see them challenge themselves a bit more early on in the season that's all.

Kski,
Plattsburgh beat Millikin 5-4 in the first game and 3-1 in the nightcap.

Plattsburgh 5 Millikin 4

Plattsburgh State's Donny Coolidge had a 2 out, 2 run double in the top of the 7th to break a 3-3 tie against Millikin. Danny Roeser had a walk and Tory Bouyea singled to set the stage for Coolidge's go ahead hit. Matt O'leary went the distance, pitching a 6 hitter with 6 K's and improved to 2-0 on the year.

Plattsburgh 3 Millikin 1

In the 2nd game Dan Tracy followed up O'Leary's complete game with one of his own as he threw a 4 hitter with 2 strikeouts and didn't allow a walk. The Cards scored 3 times in the 2nd inning as Danny Coolidge tied a school record with a single to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. He then stole 2nd and 3rd, before scoring on a sac fly by Brandon Cross. Later in the inning Crockett Pack and Anthony Presto hit run scoring singles and that was all the support Tracy needed.
He improved to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.56. Millikin was coming off a 10-2, 9-7 double header sweep of Fredonia the day before. Cardinals extend their record setting winning streak to 13 games.

Plattsburgh finished their current road trip at the Gene Cusic Collegiate with a perfect 9-0 record and now stand at 13-1 for the year.

Cardinals are off until Saturday March 27th when they travel to Long Island to take on St. Joseph's in a noon double header.

Hello all! This is my first post, I played in the SUNYAC for three years and I loved my time playing, and now I want to be able to stay connected to it through some good conversations with you guys.... I was just wondering as the first conference weekend approaches, any predictions by any of you on how it will all unfold???

jack31

well i guess let me be the first to say welcome!

there are alot of former players here with alot of good insight into the SUNYAC.

What team did you play for?  I ask because it would be nice to get some opinions from people around some of the other teams in the conference.

Plattsburgh State runs their record to 15-1 today with a sweep of St. Joseph's (L.I.) 3-2 in the 1st game and 5-1 in the 2nd game.

First, it's good to see a new member on the board.  BalancePoint, I'll join Jack in welcoming you to the board.  It will be nice to have a new point of view.

Second, conference play has finally started.  New Paltz picks up a key W against Brockport.  There were some field difficulties so the first game started 3 hours late, and this was the only game played by these 2 teams.  The second game will be made up later on in the season.  I must say that I am very glad New Paltz came out with a W.  Give them some confidence and see how they can compete with the rest of the conference.  Pre-season predictions have Brockport in the conference tourney.  One loss shouldn't count them out.  Field conditions might have played a role in their level of play, but we shouldn't take any credit away from New Paltz.  They have proven themselves by beating Salisubury.  Can't complain about a team shakin' thinks up early in the season.

Cortland takes 2 from Oswego.  No shake-up here.  Cortland did what they needed to do.  Cortland has to beat those teams that they are supposed to beat in order to keep their status as the top team in the conference.  They definitely started off on the right foot.

Plattsburgh swept St. Josheph's in non-conference play.  This takes their win streak to 15 games.  O'Leary and Tracy went  the distance in each game.  No doubt that these guys are seeing what New Paltz is doing.  The Cards will have to prepare extensively to make sure they can start conference play on a good note.  They begin conference play against New Palts at Chip Cummings Fied on April 10th.  Plattsburgh will prepare for these games by playing a bunch of Liberty League opponents (Skidmore, Clarkson, and St. Lawrence), as well as Old Westbury (Skyline) in the coming weeks.

Cortland beats up on Keuka today. At one point they were down 2-0... crazy. Brockport SWEEPS Oneonta. Oneonta doesn't pitch Filak?! Filak hasn't thrown in 2 weeks . . . anyone with any information on him?? Weather didn't really cooperate this weekend but hopefully next weekend will be better.
Omar Minaya is a GREAT general manager. . .
