Should be an exciting tournament. I would guess a number of scouts will be there Day 1 to see Filak throw...could be a great opportunity for someone to have a good showing and cathc their eye.

It would be nice to see someone else take home the title this year, give NY some more representation in the Regionals. I just dont think it is going to happen...

KSki...you legal age to consume those "few" right?? Lol

Yes, Cortland Internet Radio is planning on broadcasting ALL games (not just Cortland's) from the SUNYAC Baseball Tournament (in addition to all the SUNYAC softball, men's lax and women's lax tournament action at Cortland this week). We will also try to provide live stats for some of the games, if not all - depends on staffing issues.

Hopefully by Wednesday I will have a SUNYAC Baseball tournament web page set up that will include links to audio and live stats coverage, plus scores and box scores during the tournament.

Sounds like Fran will be working overtime this weekend.

Only on the Internets can Truth be called "utter nonsense."
OK, OK, let's start over.
Everyone, let's be friends, OK?
Just having fun. C'mon.

Here's my first act of friendship on our new path together, a little joke to make everyone laugh. Actually, a true story. Happened this weekend.

Man walks into a bar in Plattsburgh.
Asks the bartender "Hey, why are you wearing that Plattsburgh baseball jersey?"
The bartender turns around and shows him the jersey number, 15.
Bartender then says, "It's a tribute to our coach."
Man thinks for a minute and doesn't get it. "How is that a tribute to your coach?"
Bartender says, "Because in games that matter, he's 1 and 14."

Silky Johnson, I said that Doorey was selected as Coach of the Year to highlight that he was recognized by his peers as a good coach playing with the talent that he has. Your issue seems to be more with the national and regional rankings committee's. It also seems pretty suspect that you registered for this board about 2 weeks before the SUNYAC tourney. Making comments about players (namely calling out Dan Tracy and saying he was gonna lose, as well as the Doorey statue comment) and coaches is what I'm talking about with integrity of the game. Plattsburgh has been playing these teams for years, where were you? Now that they finally beat most of the teams they should beat and get a little national recognition, you call them out? The preseason trips to myrtle and florida have more to do with what teams register to play in those tourney's and the tourney's organizers set them up with who they have, teams don't necessary get to "select" what teams they play. Also, most teams don't care to travel up to Plattsburgh for non-conference games, let alone conference games. The rest of the teams like Cortland and Oneonta are in the middle of the state with shorter travel distances and better teams are more apt to play them based on that factor alone. I'm not saying that you have to like the Card's, but to come on here and take cheap shots and say they don't have to win SUNYAC's because they'll be in the national tourney anyway because Doorey is on the ncaa committee is just plain ridiculous. That being said, I hope the tourney this weekend is exciting and that all the teams involved play hard and give the fans a good show. Good Luck Cards!

Haha, thanks for making me feel younger.  Those "few" will be to calm my nerves because I would rather be on that field playing.  I'm sure a lot of others can relate, but at the same time it's nice to look at the conference tourney with a broader perspective.  As a player it's battling nagging injuries and fatigue after a relatively quick, yet extensive season.  Now it's just all-out anticipation to see how everything turns out when the dust is settled.

First of all, I don't know who Silky Johnson is, but I'm going to Google it right now and likely become a big fan of his work.

Now, to reply to "Manbearpig," which has to be a reference to dating options at Plattsburgh...

1. I didn't their kid out. I said I think he's due for a loss. I also think LeBron's due for a ring. Am I calling Kobe out?
2. I'm amazed you can speak so eloquently and accurately about how other teams think when it comes to nonconference scheduling.
3. As far as the Pool C berth, yeah, we'll see. A team that goes 7-7 or 8-7 in its conference, depending on whether they go 0-2 or 1-2 this weekend, does not deserve an NCAA berth. Period. And they will get in nonetheless, which means the fact that he's on the committee cannot be overlooked.
4. Did you like the joke? 'Cause I got more.
5. The statue comment was damn funny.

Truth I respect your right to post what you want, you have an opinion and you stick to it, I respect that.
I'm just curious what your hatred for Plattsburgh is? Will you be there this weekend, cause I would love to talk baseball with you, I think I'll be there Friday cause I would really like to see Filak pitch.

Truthfinder

I have no hatred toward anyone or anything.

I'm just down on out-of-control egos. I'm actually providing a service here: Bringing people back to Earth. It's a nice planet.

You spew enough rhetoric, you feel my wrath.

I kind of got the joke, but my reaction wasn't laughter to tell the truth... is there some hidden meaning about the person that wore #15 from '05-08?  I know it's not, but I can't wait for more knee-slappers in the future.

My apologies to those that have said that we need to move on and that this conversation is getting annoying... Some of us rock-eaters just don't know when to move on.

I think we need to get into the Player Haters' time machine and travel back in time to call out other coaches and players.

LOL j/k, though I would like to figure out how this weeks-long conversation got so out of whack.

Truthfinder

Guys, seriously, this is all friendly banter.

Let's start again.

Because many of you probably lost $$$ on the Derby this weekend, I want to give you a surefire way to make your money back in time for Mother's Day.

Bet on the Cardinals this weekend ... to be drowning sorrows at Peabody's by Saturday night!

Rack me. I'm out.

So how does everyone think New Paltz did this season?  I was able to see their game against Cortland, Oswego and Plattsburgh and I must say that they have improved A LOT.  They have 3 great freshman pitchers and some other talented freshman hitters.  Chismar will easily be the ace of that staff for the coming years with the other 2 having conference roles also.  What is everyone else's opinion on NP?

Hot Rod Runnin

Agreed on that...New Paltz just needs to play much more solid defense behind those three young guys. They will take there lumps early, but by Junior and Senior year, look for NP to be challenging for the conference title. Coach Griffiths needs to build aorund those three and not let them waste away with no talent around them.

Talking at large.........If plattsburgh doesnt get to championship they dont get in...........if skidmore gets to championship they get in otherwise i think fisher might snag it because they dont have a tournament to worry about........Although the empire 8 is weak this year. I think the team i would most like to see get the at large is either Oneonta mainly because filak can beat anyone or Skidmore because i just looked at their stats and their staff is UNREAL......4 deep with good bullpen although it seems they rarely need to use it. I think plattsburgh MIGHT win one game in the tourny this year......i dont think thats enough to get them in.

New York isn't guaranteed an at-large selection into the tournament. Pool C teams are competing for spots against a national field.
