Doorey strikes again. Tells his team they're in if Cortland wins, and quoted in paper today talking about NCAA tourney chances, with no mention of fact he's on committee. Give it up Coach. You went .500 in the SUNYAC. He's making a sham of this process.

"It's completely out of our hands now," said Plattsburgh State head coach Kris Doorey. "We're on the outside looking in as far as the NCAA Tournament is concerned. We have to hope Cortland wins the SUNYAC Tournament and get some help.

"We won't find out until next Sunday. We're disappointed with this weekend and it's difficult to explain."

Nothing wrong with those. It's not up to him to tell the paper that he's on the selection committee. After all, we've been through this plenty of times in the last few weeks. It doesn't matter if you're on the committee, you have zero say on if your team gets in. It doesn't hurt but he won't be involved in the decision-making process about if Plattsburgh gets a Pool C.

That doesn't make it any safer.Tomorrow mid 50's.

Yeah, but how do we know he'll adhere -- or has adhered -- to that rule?

Further, if Rochester loses the LL, does anyone think Kris Doorey will have one good thing to say about them on that call?

Not. A. Chance.

Bottom line is this: He can manipulate the entire process, whether he's part of the discussion on whether his .500 team in the SUNYAC deserves a Pool C bid or not.

7-7 in SUNYAC play. Yeah, that merits a shot at a national championship.

Hey John,  what is the protocol in the SUNYAC if they don't complete the conference tournament??  Does it become single elimination or do they revert back to the conference regular season champion??

airball55

I have heard through a current Eagle player that the tournament becomes a single elimination tournament and Brockport will go to the regionals.  Waiting for a second confirmation.  Cortland will fall into pool C and await their fate.

cstate19

Brockport wins by default is what I am hearing.  Wow.

airball55

Yup, its official and listed on the Cortland baseball page.  Will this hurt pool B teams in NY??  Should be interested.

Truthfinder

It should not hurt Pool B. Cortland must get Pool C. LL becomes a one-bid league.

reddragon00

Dont think Pool B will be affected too much but killed Plattsburgh chances and if Rochester doesn't win the LL tourney.   Cortland is a lock...of course but what might be interesting is if Brockport and even a Rochester could be shiped out to Marrietta Regional becuase of the distance thing.

Any Clairification on this?

PLattsburgh is done and I also saw where he was trying to find games.....not likely.  Most schools are done and if they are not, most have the 40.

Kudos to Brockport....would have been nice to see Brockport -Cortland game.

Unfortunate about the weather.  Somebody remind me why we live in NYS.  It was 80 degrees like 3 days ago and they just cancelled a tournament due to snow.

I don't know if I have a better solution, but it seems pretty weak to win a league championship that way.  I'm even ok with giving them the auto bid, but it just doesn't seem right to call them the SUNYAC Champ without having to close the deal.  Whattya gonna do.  Not that big a deal.  That being said, I would like to see BPort make some noise in regionals and would love to see some upsets in the LL tournament now that it's all but certain that no at large bid will come out of there.  This should make for a very interesting LL tournament.

Truthfinder....Congrats.  All but certain that your nemesis Plattsburgh will be shut out of the tourney.  This should allow you some extra time to prepare your posts for next year and come up with some additional aliases.

Truthfinder

They're not shut out of the tourney, pudge. They did not belong. Period.

Now the question is, will the Plattsburgh coach actually support Cortland on the selection call.

This whole thing stinks. Plattsburgh fans will never acknowledge that they weren't good enough to get in. They'll just say they got hosed by the weather and that it took away their guaranteed Pool C bid.

And I have as many aliases as Plattsburgh has SUNYAC tournament wins. One. (Though I didn't need 17 tries for that win.)

Love it Truthfinder......Love it! ;D

Why is the SUNYAC tournament over just like that because of weather?  Brockport and Cortland have until next Sunday to play these games.  This isn't like the Liberty League where the tournament ends on the Sunday before the field is announced and would have to shorten the tournament due to weather because they couldn't extend it a day.  This does not make any sense to me that the SUNYAC would end the tournament like this when they have a full week to reschedule the 1 or 2 games needed to complete the tournament.  Is this just a ploy to gain exposure by (almost assuredly) having 2 teams in the regionals?  Reschedule the games, there is plenty of time.

According to Cortland's Website:

"The tournament has officially been declared completed. Brockport, as the lone 2-0 team in the tournament, is the champion per SUNYAC bylaws and receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Div. III tournament.

It was agreed upon that no team would play three games in one day on Monday, and the league rules stipulate that the tournament must be concluded by Monday. Therefore, the tournament has ended."

It's just basically because of the rule that is made and I guess they aren't going to break them.

pg hit it on the head............the reason the tourny ended the way it did is because of the SUNYAC bylaws.....But what are ya gonna do? teams will learn that losing early can hurt you in the tourny......not that cortland could do anything against filak, but just saying, the thought of coming out of the loser bracket should be the last thought...........Cortland gets pool C bid in my opinion, no question they deserve the be in the tourny and due to their record, national recognition, program history, coach, and schedule they will get in......No one else from the area though, if cortland won the tournament ny would not have gotten a poll C bid IMO.......too bad more baseball couldnt be played
