Good stuff on here.  I am going to throw another little twist in on this one.  I still think Rochester should have been the next team in, not Plattsburgh.  In comparison:

U of R- Regular season champs, one win in conference tourny.
Common Opponents: Rochester 7-2, Brockport 4-2 (Close here)
Plattsburgh- 2 and out in Sunyac.

now I understand that region record is of primary importance here, but Rochester plays in the UAA and plays solid programs  Emory, Wash & Jeff., etc.  They don't have the luxury of playing Morris the Cat and the Penn State school system.

I still think Rochester should have been next (4-0 against RPI!) not Plattsburgh,

Welcome coach!  Always glad to have new posters on the boards.

The hardest thing for new D-III fans to comprehend, especially those who see multi-conference bids to the Big East/SEC/Big 12 to D-1 Men's Basketball "March Madness", is how hard the at-large bids are to get in D-III.

Plattsburgh was probably the next team from the NY region among the last 8 teams considered for the 15th and last bid.  You can almost point to one game as being the reason that a team did not make the playoffs.  After the automatic qualifiers are awarded, there are still 320 teams that are left in Pool C.  There are only 15 bids to Pool C.

Many of us now view the conference tourneys with the 200+ teams that are invited to the conference tourneys as the first step on the road to the D3 Series.

I'd like to give a shoutout to the Plattsburgh softball program.

In only 12 years of existence, they've already been to the NCAA tournament twice, plus one World Series. That's how you build a program and make a real splash.

It's too bad baseball hasn't had a sniff of that success. Maybe Chip Cummings should have sunk his money in a real program ... the PSUC Softball Team!

Truthman, come on.  Stay in the game man.  That post is awful.  I have enjoyed your wit to a degree until that one.  Did you get cut up there or something?  This is a no softball board, no chanting and singing here!!

YOU'RE BETTER THAN THAT!

Seriously TruthFinder, you have had it out for the SUNYAC and Plattburgh, in particular.

You better have been an All-American and won the national championship to talk about another team like that.

Truth went to Plattsburgh, he gave it away in some of his posts.  I'm still trying to figure out who he is though.

I think I hit a nerve, discussing the accomplishments of the softball program vs. the baseball program at PSUC.

You're all right, it wasn't fair. There is no comparison.

Just reviewed the coaching salaries at Plattsburgh. Very interesting, women's hockey checks in at No 1, followed by men's hockey, men's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's soccer, track and field, softball, lacrosse and baseball.

I can't believe women's hockey was atop the list, comfortably I might add.

Wish there was a total budget search tool for the SUNYAC. There probably is. Anyone know where?

Probably can't find everything you're looking for on this site, but total budgets should be posted for each school.

D3baseball has announced their All American Teams. Dave Filak of Oneonta St. was named to the 1st team for his outstanding year on the mound. He was the only player from the SUNYAC, Liberty League or Empire 8 to make the list.

Here is the link for the complete list of All Americans:

I don't think anyone brought up the SUNYAC All Conference selections for this season that were announced back on May 10th. If they did then I apologize for being redundant. Anyway here they are.

2010 All-SUNYAC baseball teams announced

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its Baseball All-Conference teams for the 2010 season. Cortland junior Jason Simone (Utica/Thomas R. Proctor) was named the 2010 Bob Wallace Player of the Year. Oneonta's Dave Filak (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) was honored as the Don Axtell Pitcher of the Year while New Paltz's Tom Pinnola (North Babylon, NY / North Babylon) was named the Clark Whited Rookie of the Year. New Paltz head coach Matt Griffiths was selected as the 2010 SUNYAC Walter Nitardy Coach of the Year after he guided the Hawks to an 18-18 overall record this season.
