Plattsburgh lost 1 yesterday, dropping it to Dubuque, IL 8-0.  They were eaten up by 5 errors, which probably could have been 7 or 8 depending on scoring.  Today they got two wins against lowly Millikin but, hey, gotta beat those teams and that's what they were able to do.  8-6 and 7-5 I believe.  Hitting finally came around after having only four hits, all singles, yesterday.  Tough matchup vs. number 1 Heidelberg tomorrow and come back after to face Utica.  Paul Handy looks to be their ace this year while Dan Tracy is clearly struggling thus far.

On Tuesday...

Plattsburgh drops to #1 Heidelberg 4-0 and tops Utica 9-7.  Hitting still seems to be a problem as extra base hits continue to be scarce.  Marc Plante pitched very well against Heidelberg and newcomer Bobby Piser was solid the second game.  Pat Shaughnessy and Crockett Pack seem to be the better hitters so far for Plattsburgh.  They'll have to hit better in order to compete every day and especially improve timely hitting.

Cortland nips Stevens Inst. 2-1 behind sr. righty S. Hartling complete game and A. Coffey's two-out, two-run single in the eighth. R. Dragons 7-4 and meet So. Maine on Friday and RPI on Saturday to close out Florida swing in Auburndale. Hartling 0er, 4h, 13Ks. J. Adornetto 2x2, P.J. Rinaldi 2x3. Stevens strikes first with unearned score in the sixth. Hartling escape bases loaded jam with strikeout, popout.

Plattsburgh drops another, 8-2 to North Park College, IL.  Defense seemed spotty at best, making good plays when they weren't expected to and poor errors on balls that should be fielded. Hitting continues to be a problem for the Cards.  I wonder if the new bat changes are in their heads or what.

Truthfinder

Yeah, because only Plattsburgh changed bats.

Let's face it, all the offseason bluster was just that. Bluster. Maybe they should practice more.

airball55

The truthfinder is back and is as vicious as ever.  Not to beat a dead horse some, but, Brockport is currently 9-3 with wins against some pretty darn good teams, Rowan, RPI Etc..  May want to take a peek at them as a possible hurdle for Cortland to jump.

Big Louie

I dont know about anyone else but am I the only one who is already sick of reading about what Plattsburgh isn't doing. Let's face it there not good, just ask truthfinder he can tell ya. Sure the bats are going to be an issue if you don't have enough talent.

Cortland 18, So. Maine 15, 11 innings

baseballislife

No problem with the bats there! ::)
I said it before the season and I'm sticking with it.  Good hitters will still hit.  I don't see much of a difference in the offensive production.  Lots of big scores.

Plattsburgh drops two more, 7-6 and 14-4 vs. Bethel.  Hitting was better but couldn't rally at the right times.  I don't know if they aren't playing together or what but there's a lot of the same talent as last year.  It will be a while until games mean anything (SUNYACs), so the shuffling of the lineup and rotation shouldn't concern the Cards.  In other news, Cortland fans don't use spellcheck, or just don't know the difference between places and contractions (there, they're).  It would be they are, or they're, not that good.  Three of four players Plattsburgh lost were sub .300 hitters, so that isn't the whole problem.  Oh and you can't expect media to have any credibility.  People write for the AP because mommy and daddy didn't love them enough.
