I attended brockports game vs fisher yesterday, both of these teams can certainly play in the regionals. Neither team played great defense but showed flashes of some very nice plays. Fishers frontline starting pitching is a little better in my mind but i think brockports depth of their startin pitching may help. Big win for the Golden Eagles to keep them on track for regionals, and as for fisher they just need to run thru that weak conference.

Oneonta showing some spark for a team that lost thier longtime coach. Not missing the 3 players that quit, and the replacements have more than made up for thier loss.Dont see O-State finishing behind B-Port or New Paltz, also dont see them taking 2 out of 3 from C-State.O-State should finish 2nd behind Cortland, this weekends games against Fredonia should shed some light on the SUNYAC ,weather permitting.O-State has some talented young pitchers and SUNYAC player of the year Knack and catcher Wells hitting the ball very well.Watched thier middle infield and was impressed with how cohesive they were on double plays. After Wells showed J Brown last year he could throw out even the speedy M June (twice in one conference game)should be interesting to see how that matchup works out this year.I still feel Cortland has the upperhand with talent ,but it should make for an interesting SUNYAC conference this year.Lets hear from your guys opinions on this.

Fishers 1-2 is probably better than anyone Brockport has but like you said I think the depth should help Brockport. I'm not so sure fisher is going to roll through a weak conference. Yes Utica isn't very good and stevens has been down in recent years, however early signs say Ithaca looks like the Ithaca of old. Those will not be 6 easy wins by no means and could easily see Ithaca winning that season series. Also beating the same team 6 times will be no easy task.

Oneonta ahead of Brockport and New Paltz just don't see it. I think that's a pretty bold statement for a team that lost so much. I put them in the running with Plattsburgh battling for the 4th spot in the tourney.

Thursday results .....

Oneonta puts 25-18 whiplashing on Western Conn (though WC has it 24-18 ...whatever, it hurt); and OSt conquered Lawrence, WI 13-7 with seven run seventh to wipe out 6-4 deficit (though Lawrence posts 12-7 final)

Fredonia falls 9-1 at Penn St.-Behrend

Conference dates today and Saturday: Cortland at Bport, NPaltz at Pburgh. And Saturday-Sunday finds Oneonta at Freds. In NC DH Saturday it's Oswego hosting SUNYIT. Oswego at Ithaca on Sunday

Standings ...

Plattsburgh   2-1    9-6
Fredonia       1-2    5-9
Cortland       0-0   11-4
Brockport     0-0   11-5
New Paltz     0-0   11-6
Oneonta       0-0    6-4
Oswego        0-0    3-8

I do wish O-State well! The staff and players haven't had an easy time. It's hard to replace a long time coach with out some hiccups along the way.It will be hard for them to get to the tourney this year let alone knocking off N.P. or B-Port.Experienced players are very hard to replace at any level!!

Tarheel0550

Dont know about the "expierienced" players O-State lost, alot of the errors last year were on 2 of the 3 replaced players.I just feel you cant count them out ,I think they have something to prove this year and that can make for a dangerous opponent if they are taken for granted by teams in conference.Good luck to all the SUNYAC teams!Think it will be a great year for the conference.

Brockport on the verge of knocking off Cortland, the Eagles holding a 7-5 lead entering the CSt ninth thanks to a four-run uprising in the seventh frame. Corts up 5-3 at the time and never trailed until ............a walk and single sent RDragons' starter A. Schuldt to the showers. Four relievers later and Bport turned things around. CSt error and hit batter helped but P. Wilson delivered a two-run single and C. Booth's single drove home the seventh run. Corts filled the bases on three hit batters with one out in the eighth. J. McCarthy came out of the pen to get a popout and comebacker to retire the side.

M. Weakley had a two run homer in the Bport fourth and N. Bunce a two-out home run in the second. Cortland got five runs off Port starter A. Tilley. T. Panetta had an RBI and A. Pezzuto a pair of RBIs. M. June's double plated another.
