I agree no one is so talented as to take a team for granted,but some have definite advantages in returning players. They were middle of the lineup players and tough outs,that is hard to replace on any team!Like any team Oneonta has to prove it belongs in the tourney.Good start for B-Port!!!

Cortland completes shutout sweep at Brockport with 13-0 nine inning nightcap rubout. R. Angelucci (3-1) and A. Smith combine on RDragon hill. Angelucci allows two hits, one walk and fans five. Smith with three strikouts in two innings. Five errors hinder the Port. CSt's M. June doubles to right-center and eventually scores on a first inning miscue. PJ Rinaldi doubles in a fourth inning run and scores on an error. An infield hit and two walks precede B. Barry's RBI walk in a four score fifth inning that winds up with Z. Graczyk's double plating a pair. Corts add two runs in each of the next three innings. J. Butler's two-run pinch hit homer features the eighth frame outburst -- believed to be soph catcher Butler's initial plate appearance of the season. Three Eagle servers yield eight earned runs. M. Ciccotti starts and goes 4.2 innings.

Plattsburgh State wins the 2nd game against New Paltz as they score 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to win 3-2 and earn a split in today's double header. Brian Burns gets the win in relief as he came on in the 8th innings and  only gave up 1 hit. He evened his record to 2-2 on the year. Marc Plante went the 1st 7 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on 9 hits. He had 3 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks. Chris Pyz took the loss for New Paltz as he came on in relief of starter James McKenna in the bottom of the 2nd inning. He gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, on 7 hits. He had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. McKenna was struck in the back of the head in the 1st inning when the catcher attempted to throw a runner out at 2nd base. He finished the inning but was replaced by Pyz to start the 2nd.

Plattsburgh:  3 runs, 8 hits, 2 errors     Cards improve to 11-7 overall 4-2 in conference play

New Paltz: 2 runs, 10 hits, 3 errors       Hawks are 12-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference.


In the first game New Paltz starter Andrew Grann took a no hitter into the bottom of the 7th before giving up back to back singles with 2 outs. He finished with a 2 hitter and struck out 8. Grann upped his record to 4-1 on the year. Tyler Greene nearly matched Grann through the first 6 innings as he scattered 4 hits. He ran into trouble and gave up five hits in the top of the 7th with a bases loaded triple by Jimmy Briggs plating the first 3 New Paltz runs.  2 more runs would score before the inning ended. Greene's record is now 1-1 for the season.

Plattsburgh: 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 error

New Paltz:   5 runs, 10 hits, 3 errors

Here are the standings off of the SUNYAC website.  I think they gave Fredonia credit for sweeping Oneonta when they really went 2-1.  Oneonta should be 1-2 and Fredonia should be 3-3.

Far from as easy as 14-3 score for Cortland. Five-run eighth and five-run ninth allowed RDragons to pull away. In fact SUNYIT held a 1-0 lead into the CSt fifth when a bases loaded hit batter and M. June's sac fly gave the guests a 2-1 leg up. IT tied it at 2-2 in the fifth on a bases loaded HBP. Z. Graczyk's double chased home two Cortland runs in the sixth for a 4-3 edge but Uticans within 4-3 in their seventh on Evans' RBI single. Corts eighth featured J. Quinn's two-run single, M. Wild's RBI single an J. Adornetto's two-run double. CSt caps the three hour contest in the ninth with three hits in addition to a pair of IT errors.
Corts deploy 23 players including six pitchers. Graczyk 2x3, 3r, 2bi, 3bb; Quinn 2x5, 2r, 2bi; Adornetto 1x4, 2bi, 2bh. Dragons with five doubles and 10 walks. Starting pitcher J. Molloy goes 4.2 innings. Third hurler P. Lompado gets the win in 1.2 innings. Cortland pitchers fan nine. IT's J. Sass 2x4, 1r. IT uses six pitchers. Starter J. Albright has three hitless, scoreless innings with four walks. M. Rose takes the loss in a 2.0 inning stint in which he yields 3h, 2r, 2er, 2bb.

Bombers strike for five runs in the seventh and tying run in the eighth on V. Gneo's base hit RBI. IC goes with one of its top pitchers at the start. J. Prendergast works five innings and allows seven hits and six runs, four walks. Relievers, including regular starter P. Lemmo, outshine CSt pen and get 17 hit support. Corts open with No. 5 starter Z. Cortland blanks Plattsburgh State today 11-0 in the 1st game of their weekend series. Up 4-0 going into the 6th the Red Dragons put the hammer down as they plate 6 more runs to blow it open and cruise to the win. Cort's Aaron Schuldt goes 7 innings and only gives up 3 hits while fanning 14 batters. He improves his record to 4-0. Bobby Piser takes the loss for the Cardinals as he gives up 8 runs, 6 earned in 5 innings. Cortland's Max Rosing 2x3 with 4 ribbys. John Adornetto 2x4 with 3 runs scored, Bryan Mistretta 1x3 (double ) with 2 rbi's, Michael LaTempa 2x4 (single, double) with an rbi, and Matt June 2x3 with 2 runs scored. Teams play 2 games tomorrow starting at noon.
